  • love the fire hydrant

  • great collection!

  • @DixiePrepper Thanks! It's weird, though, to think that all of my books (and then some) could fit onto one Kindle.

  • I have ALOT of VCAndrews books on my book shelf! Check out my channel to see the others!

I also loved your book shelfs! It's good to see a man taking pride in his books like I do. Now i'm going to get a fire extinguisher to put on it to protect my precious books! :)

  • @Horrorfan309

get some Arthur C. Clarke and Alastair Reynolds books they are great authors.

since you read Dean Koontz, your mind may be blown, lol.

  • Having a travel book for Sri Lanka, but no speak of how awesome Arthur C. Clarke was.

    i am disappoint.

  • @Drmofothegreat Oh, I was a big fan of Arthur C. Clarke in my youth. They weren't all gems, Arthur C. Clarke's works, though. 3001, for example, was a real stinker. Still, the man was amazing. I still think about Rendezvous with Rama now and then.

  • @RoulinBrooks

Rendezvous with Rama was the first novel of his i read, i loved it still i don't like its sequels. hoping i can buy it next week when my library has it's used book sale. $1-2(sc and hc) are their normal sale prices(they have a shelf of books for sale usually). i just hope they are not closing down as it's only a 5-15 min walk depending on my knee and hip, and my state just voted in some extremist 'conservatives' that are against public libraries. :(

  • also i haven't read 3001, i just bought 2001(haven't read it, nor seen the movie) and 3 other classics of his at a used bookstore. also bought 3 Alastair Raynolds books Galactic north Chasm City and Revelation Space(my fav living author)

  • Wow I really love your tour! And i adore your "travelling-shelf"! I think that is a really good idea, even though i haven't been around that much ;) I'm from germany and i've never visited a country thats not in europe. (greek, denmark, austria, spain ect ) But I hope that will change soon (i'm 23 so... i think i will make it till i'm old ;-)))

*thumps up* for the tour and of course the "travelling-shelf" :D

    Greetings! :)

  • @Merraluuna Thanks for the comment! I didn't start traveling until I was about 23 or so. You'll have a lot of travel adventures in your future no doubt. You should start your own traveling bookshelf!

  • You're not a fan of Van Gogh, are you?

  • I'm the same way when it comes to holding the actual book in my hand. Its an experience that Kindle simply cannot replenish.

  • Nice collection, thanks for sharing it. Very cute cat btw :)

  • You should look into getting a digital e-book reader! It has saved me alot of space!

  • I don't think I'll ever get a Kindle or the like. I like the feel of a book in my hand. There's a good book, 84 Charing Cross Road, that does a great job conveying how wonderful books are.

  • @RoulinBrooks I totally agree with you. There's something nice about actually seeing the collection, as well as the gratification of having completed a thick book.

  • Great selection, thanks for showing.

  • That's quite the collection :)!

  • Thanks! No fun to move them, though, I can tell you!

  • That was fun to watch. Any concerns that when you do travel to those places the guide will be out of date?

  • That's a good question. I generally take more than one guide book. The older guide books would still be fine for the basics. The Eiffel Tower isn't going anywhere, nor are the pyramids. But you're right--when it comes to restaurant or hotel information, I definitely make sure I have an up-to-date guidebook. Another option is the library. When I went to eastern Europe last year I got a very good, newly published guide book from the library.

  • Big libraries make a rich life....

    and make moving SUCK!!!!

  • I moved to my house four and a half years ago. I hired movers, but to cut down on the length of the move and the costs I moved the books myself. About 80 large boxes worth. It was a nightmare. They all sat in the basement while I painted the rest of the house. It looked like the warehouse at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. I'm NEVER moving again!

  • Nice interesting books. Hope you have gotten through most of them. You need to get the bible on cd by all the black stars. I find it quite great listening.

  • your book collection is awsome

  • Thank you! I've *really* cut down on my book buying because there's a library a ten minute walk from me and I can order any book from the 100 libraries in the Toronto Public Library system and they'll send it to my little branch for me to pick up. Super easy. I just finished Lost Horizon which I'd never read before.

  • my book collection is in the library where everyone can enjoy. not into hoarding except my field guides which i use frequently. but one of my faves is "kinship with all life" by j allen boone about strongheart, the dog who starred in rin tin tin and taught the author about nature. also george w steller biog. farley mowatt, e o wilson, aldo leopold, barry lopez, jane goodall, carl hiaasen.

  • wait a tic!? isn't tan tan.. 'the adventures of tin tin' ?!?! oh lord hehe.. and you must dust those shelves mister! haha i love the catologue resonae :P hehe i organized so many in the national gallery library. and ps i have to say.. never read watership down.. maybe i might just have to haha ^_^ ok wait.. is tim you!? haha i always thought of you as roulin hehehe :P tell me i must know!

  • Right! Tin Tin (proper pronunciation to rhyme with "pan pan"). I love the Tin Tin books. I have a Captain Haddock curse webpage (Google Haddock curse) that people like. You HAVE to read Watership Down. One of the top five best books I've ever read. Oh, and I'm David and Tim is my partner--well, husband. We were married last August. Thanks for the comment!

  • wow! I'm definitely impressed by the amount of books in your collection. I would show you mine, but its embarrassing compared to yours. I like that you have most of them in categories :)

  • Yeah, it's very anal-rententive. On the travel bookshelf, the guides are organized first by continent and then alphabetically by country within continent (at least they used to be). It's sad.

Don't worry about comparing bookshelves! Send a video response! It would be my first! And just focus on a few books and explain why you like them. It's about quality, not quantity. ;-)

  • What a large and interesting book collection! Mine's pitiful compared to yours.

Have a nice day and keep up the good work, I always enjoy watching your videos.

  • Thanks very much! The number of books I buy has dropped drastically in the last few years. When I moved into this house, I found a branch of the Toronto Public Library a ten minute walk away. I can reserve any book from the 100 libraries in the system and have it delivered to this library. It's really convenient so I'm not buying books much these days. Still, there's nothing like browsing a good used book shop . . . . . .
