  • could you post the Electical Orthophonic Recordings he redid of Whispering and Japanese Sandman? Cant find those on here, and thought somebody, by now, would have posted them. Thanks a lot.

  • If I remember my Hendersonia correctly, this version came after the Fletcher Henderson recording; Whiteman's orchestra was not able to play it at first. This version is helped by being faster and a little less stodgy.

  • This was recorded on August 11, 1927.

  • Interesting comparison between Whiteman and Henderson's versions of this tune. Jimmy Dorsey on alto and Coleman Hawkins on tenor.

  • Another great "Pops" recording... He sure was the cat's meow!~

  • Beautiful record, thank you. I have a hot version of "Whiteman stomp" by Fletcher Henderson and his orchestra. If I find time, i'll post it.

  • just found "laceup1967" posted it here in january.

  • Highly interesting! This may come from Victor 21119 (from 1927), featuring both the Whiteman Stomp and the Sensation Stomp? The same theme indeed is used in both pieces. Thank you for offering us this version too!

  • I did a bit of research and I actually have this record, I'm not all too sure what version this is, but ill upload the version from 21119.

  • Thank you! It will be interesting to hear yet another version! Which means we'll have to search further for the data on this one...
