I moved here from California nearly a decade ago.Where the hell are you all? I've only met a few locals.Seems like everyone in Brevard's from Long Island.
@exeuroweenie Cum on up to North Florida, we all be Crackers or @ least Southerners. brevard's full of nasty yankees. Cum up to Micanopy, Flemington, Ocala.
@tajfeaster1 Hell yeah,I love Ocala,Destin and in between.Brevard's more overrun all the time.As an ex Californian, some Yankee behavior alienates me too. Some are cool.Others never shut up about New York-constant bragging.I wonder why they left.My standard response is"Where's New York? never heard of it".Shuts em up every time.
So as a Florida cracker, you shoulda known that Florida is still as Southern as all the Hee-Haw episodes are. You're talking like a damn snowbird now, ain't nothing wrong with a low budget Hee-Haw episode. God bless the Florida rednecks!
As a 6th generation Floridian, I am always curious as to why our heritage is always depicted like some low-budget HEE HAWW episode.
And, yes, my Great-Great Grandfather was General George Wheeler of the Confederate Army, so all you Klansmen stay at the Unemployment Office, if you please.
I guess I could be called a fourth generation Floridian, but I've been trapped out in CA since childhood. My Great-Great Grandfather was a young Confederate soldier in Alabama. I know how you feel, in regards to the dumbing down of our Southern heritage. My Granddaddy Herring (from NC but moved to the Glades) had less than a 10th education because of poverty but would force my Daddy to read the newspaper and debate different political issues. He valued knowledge and the land.

Hi Odinfellow,
