I think Eowyn was a deserter. She was given a responsibility by her king, yet abandoned her people for glory. I understand her wanting to fight, but she could have refused or apointed someone else in charge. I can't help but to think what her people must have felt to wake up and realise that the person in charge had abandoned them to their own device. Eowyn sure slay the witchking but she didn't know she was going to when she rode out. that was selfish

I have a feeling that most of the men here are voting for Arwen because she looks beautiful and does nothing else...since men like passive women without much grit and real personality and strength. Tolkien originally wanted Aragorn to end up with Eowyn but decided against it because he was too old and grim for her. I personally would have liked it that way. Look at how much older Arwen is than Aragorn.

The battle of Minas Tirith would never be won if Eowyn wasn't there ; 'No MAN can kill me.' Eowyn had heart and had real greif ; Arwen never lost anyone besides her mother. Eowyn's family is wiped out almost entirely ; Arwen was lovesick. But So was Eowyn ; I also relate more to Eowyn since I share feelings since some of my family members died. Arwen truthfully never fought the nazgul in movie or books. It was Elrond and Gandalf causing the water horses things.
No competition: EOWYN! Yeah, Arwen had one badass scene in the first movie, but Eowyn consistenly proved her chops throughout the second and third. and killed the Witch-King (I AM NO MAN!).

Well I actually pick both because they're both badass. Arwen fights the Naz'gul while Eowyn fights a shit load of orcs. So, yeah, But if I had to pick one of them, I would pick Arwen. Eowyn fighting the orcs that attacked Minas Tirith was like Eowyn fighting Orc Grunts in Lord of the Rings: Conquest.

That's Galadriel's dominion. The epithet "Evenstar" simply means she is the last of the great Elven princesses.
Eowyn, for me. She was willing to disobey direct royal orders to fight for her people. Yes Arwen was an emotional pillar, but Eowyn really put her self on the front lines for what she believed in.

Arwen absolutely. She and Aragorn just belong to each other. Besides, Eowyn is dead much much earlier than Aragorn because Eowyn as is an ordinary human. Not Dúnadan like Aragorn. So Aragorn needs immortal woman or woman who is Dúnadan. Arwen and Aragorn are like Lúthien and Beren, they belong to each other.
Arwen is more than 100 times older, so a bit better preserved :) But PJ was wrong to have her save Frodo and face the Nazgul at the Bruinen. This was not fair to Glorfindel, although one wonders what actor could believably play Glorfindel.

Okay...if you have read the books you realize that Arwen has an epic and well developed character who played and important role in the Silmarillian and the other books. The deal is that this was filmed for an American audience so we needed to put Arwen in place of Glorfindel and fill in the gaps...we needed a love triangle. In the books Eowyn does not serve as a love sick girl over Aragorn. She is a warrior much the same as Arwen was back in the old days. And Eowyn falls in love with Faramir.
Definately Eowyn. She is by far the stronger character and besides, Arwen shouldn't even be in the movie half as much as she is. If they hadn't put Arwen in instead, we could have had Glorfindel :'(

@Feanorielle you´ll see if you analize the books and movies you can see that the elven power of the evening star cotrarrest saurons power cause the evening star for those who dont know it´s the captured light of a silmaril and you are right arwen is the motivator but with the evening star she kinda "protected" the fellowship plus arwen actually gave her inmortal life in order to save aragon.

@Smildaris Arwen doesn't have any literal connection to the Evenstar, who is just her grandfather Eärendil flying on the night sky on his ship Wingilot with the last Silmaril on his brow. Arwen doesn't have his powers, control him, or is in any way connected to the Silmarils. There is no canonical mention of her fighting against Sauron or protecting the Fellowship in any way. That's Galadriel's dominion. The epithet "Evenstar" simply means she is the last of the great Elven princesses.

Eowyn, for me. She was willing to disobey direct royal orders to fight for her people. Yes Arwen was an emotional pillar, but Eowyn really put her self on the front lines for what she believed in.

My number one favorite LOTR female character is Galadriel.
Arwen and Eowyn are both great.Arwen is really beautiful.I like how faithful she is to Aragorn.They are perfect couple.Eowyn is really brave and she and Faramir fit well.I like them together.

Arwen absolutely. She and Aragorn just belong to each other. Besides, Eowyn is dead much much earlier than Aragorn because Eowyn as is an ordinary human. Not Dúnadan like Aragorn. So Aragorn needs immortal woman or woman who is Dúnadan. Arwen and Aragorn are like Lúthien and Beren, they belong to each other.

Arwen is more than 100 times older, so a bit better preserved :) But PJ was wrong to have her save Frodo and face the Nazgul at the Bruinen. This was not fair to Glorfindel, although one wonders what actor could believably play Glorfindel.

Okay...if you have read the books you realize that Arwen has an epic and well developed character who played and important role in the Silmarillian and the other books. The deal is that this was filmed for an American audience so we needed to put Arwen in place of Glorfindel and fill in the gaps...we needed a love triangle. In the books Eowyn does not serve as a love sick girl over Aragorn. She is a warrior much the same as Arwen was back in the old days. And Eowyn falls in love with Faramir.
