When I played in a band for kid's ministries they always seemed to be run by boring moms and dads who were so concerned about "true worship" songs with "solid theology". Half the songs were moldy oldies they wouldn't even sing in adult worship. The kids HATED it. This is simply fun with words in the form of worship. God created throw up and hands for throwing up. Did God actually tell any of you that he doesn't find this funny?
Let me just say, I've been working in Children's Church, for almost 10 years, and used Brent Weber's version of this and this song is great. What a fun song! Just read a book to my Pre-K's entitled, "What Color Is Your Underwear?" They found it hysterical go guess what color different animals' underwear was. Some of us take all things very seriously; others see the humor in all things. Life's a lot more fun that way, and faith can be fun, too!
I played this song for a conference once, and the kids absolutely loved it. It's not everyday that kids light up and shout the lyrics to a song. They absolutely love this song, and they're not just shouting the parts about throw up, they are excited that the song is about Jesus! I love it!
1 Cor. 9:22b-23 - I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.
Kids are smart enough to get past puke, snot, or whatever to see the true meaning of the song.
More people will mock Christ because of all the misguided, judgmental, and hateful comments than any kids song. You can see proof of that in this comment string!
At my church, the children enjoy singing the same songs that we sing. They don't need some silly word play to get them to sing about God. Honestly, they shouldn't. Many of the children sing their hearts out in reverence, even with classic hymns. I understand the intentions that this song may be coming from, but more often than not, this song would only serve to be a distraction, and not a song that would help kids praise the Lord.
I have been working in children's church for 30 years. I think this is an incredible song. Kids like gross, slimey, messy stuff. If you are working with kids who were not raised "IN CHURCH", this song is catchy, and WHEN you follow the song with a teaching about what it is to lift Jesus in true worship, WHEN you explain that it is to offer a sacrifice of praise, and THEN sing the song again, the kids truly understand . The message can never change, but the methods MUST! 1 Cor 9:18
this is and interesting song i like this song when i first saw it though i was hesitant about looking at it but i did and it wasent bad at all and i dont see how it is disrespecting the lord i mean i think i am gonna throw up i think i am gonna throw up i think i am gonna throw up my hands to the lord it praising the lord not disrespecting him i mean if it gets kids to sing and praise the lord and want to sing more praise songs then let them sing it
Kids have their own way of praising. Adults look at this and go "wow thats so disrespectful" but myself being some1 who works with kids at church knows that songs like this get children into singing. One song like this can make them want to sing more songs about the lord that maybe arnt as funny. Wouldnt you have loved to sing this when you were a kid? :)
when i first saw this i thought they ment they were like actually going to throw up. i dont even know this song it just atracted me by throwing up! =) but actually its throwing up your hands! hehe my bad!
Lol oh man did this bring back memories. I never liked this song when I was little lol and my big brother would always sing it to annoy me. Although I remember this song being faster. Ahaha but to all the people saying it's disrespectful, I don't think it is. I mean, kids songs are supposed to be silly and catchy. I don't think God is offended by little kids having fun and being silly while learning about Him and "throwing up" their hands to Him and "hurling" their sins out the door!
To the Naysayers: Do you really think Jesus would take this as an insult or another way of Praising His Name? Its where your heart is at, not the words. Praise Jesus!!
Actually, I came across this song and the kids I was with 6-13 yrs old thought it was great. They learned the song very quickly and ever since any time some one is sick or praising it gives them a "fun" way to relate to that person by telling them to "Throw their hands up to the Lord..." They get a visual (which is important to young minds) of throwing/hurling their sins out the door... I think the way it is used by those teaching it is what creates the disrespect to the Lord not the song...
Interesting - being accused of 'judgmental', poor Christian, unloving because I contend equating worship of God with vomiting teaches a low view of God. Well, how does this song fit with Phil 4:8: Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." hmm...nothing about bodily functions in those verse...
Kids don't leave the church because of "stupid songs like this". They leave because of judgemental people. And what they think is a judgemental God. I don't know which God all of you are praising but you have grossly misinterpreted just who the One True God really is. He is Love. Have you met Him yet? The God of Love, not of condemnation, not of seriousness, and most certainly not of STANDARDS. Unconditional Love is where its at for Him. Do you realize who you praise?Do you? Do you?
:-) I love this song. Good job! When I was a kid, I loved to see creative worship songs, and still do. God knows your intentions, so don't worry about pleasing us, it's all about Him!
I remember at VBS being taught the in a cabin in the woods song, which was not a "church" song or a song about the crucifixion of Christ...I just remember having fun at church and the Pastor teaching and it was fun...Hey...God's children are fun...and I do not believe that this song is disrespectful or will lead a generation away from God...idiewithnooxygen you are going to die because you have never known Life..and that is in Jesus
This is a song for children to worship HIM! Is our worship so base, so shallow, so meaningless that the only way we can teach children to love, honor, respect, be in awe of the Creator of the universe is to use bathroom humor? Does this song really honor God?
Would you find it funny if this song was about your mom or dad?
@Mascro1977 I suppose, then, that your wife or mom or dad would just laugh out loud if you equated your love for them with vomit or bile or other bodily functions.
Because I don't think that a song mixing worship and vomiting is appropriate I should not be teaching children? Have you lost sight of your responsiblity when teaching?
"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."
@TheAmazingamerica This may seem like such a small issue to you and I can appreciate that, but think about what this song is conveying about God and it is demeaning and belittling the One who created you and me. That doesn't bother you a bit? That little children are being taught to equate God with vomit?
Shouldn't worship be about getting kids to think about God? Can you honestly say that this song honors and glorifies God?
@TWillPeck I can see it from both points of view, I don't feel strong one way or another. Probably was thrown back a bit at first by the words. I would probably not like it if I had small children and they came home from church and were singing it. I like the tune.
@TWillPeck Wow. You really have no idea what Jesus is like, do you? He is not stuck up. He is not proud, rude, He doesn't keep a record of wrongs, He is not easily offended. He is Love. Nothing can take away or diminish God and His glory. Not a song. Not you or me. Nothing. Do you disagree? This song is just a little bit of fun. Get off of it. This song put a smile on my face and I'm sure it made God smile too. He loves his children and sees the good intentions of this song.
Extreme Faith, I appreciate your desire to praise and worship God and do not doubt that you want to show your love for Him. I think it is important, when praising God, that while it is emotional and uplifting, it is also about His being glorified. I hope you come to a deeper understanding of this as you mature in Christ.
First of all this is a song kids not one for their parents that think they know everything about praise and worship for children. And second the words have two meanings don't you throw your hands up to the Lord when you feel the pressing need to praise him? or doesn't God hurl your sins out the door when you are on your knees asking for his grace and forgiveness? It is only the word association that has everyone bothered. Kids think it is fun and from there you can move into other worship!
Worship is not simply about something clever to remember. It is about representing the truths of God to those singing the songs and bring honor to the one Holy God. This song does not teach children truth about God. I have to question what it does end up teaching them. I would personally use a song that is fun and teaches truths about God instead of potty humor being called praise.
i think im gonna throw up at your comment. you don't "praise" our crucified Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by placing HIS HOLY name in the same sentece as barf. Jesus is perfect and deservers all the respect we can offer Him. by teaching this song to children we're destroying their perception of God in this god-forsaken generation.
while it may be disgusting or some may feel it is irrevererant, think about this, while kids are being silly and pretending to throw up or just be silly, they are getting the message...and when they are thirty they are going to remember this song, and probably, I would say more than likely be trained in the way they should go and not depart...just a thought...we really need to meet people where they are and that goes for children too...hey Jesus did

When I think of how far we've come from the glorious music tradition of the early church, it's no wonder modern spirituality has less resonance than a frappacino.
I think it's hilarious. I'm a director of children's ministries and a bible school graduate and you know what? Christians can have moments of silliness, goofiness and humor as well. Lighten up.
i love this song so much i go to church everyday and i always pray at the alter that some one will make a song like this!this song just made me smile!!!!!!!!!
p.s.if you have a runescape sub my channel and lets chat and add as friend!plus sub my channel ppl! love this song!!!!nice job!
I would not let the children in church hear this. This can hinder their walk. Do you teach them about spongebob at Sunday school? Never. This is non biblical.
Some of you will be very surprised to find out that God has a sense of humor...and that He was a kid once too...and I think this song would make Him SMILE...those of you who are crucifying this KIDS song would have crucified Christ too....I am sure He did something that wasnt up to your RELIGIOUS beliefs. GREAT SONG!
I smell legalism! First of all throwing up is a natural function. Second of all we do everything to the glory of God, that means throwing up too.
"Whatever you do in word or in deed do all to the glory of God'. When was the last time you threw up to the glory of God? I did!
Stop with the legalism, seriously it's laughable. The next time I hear this and I'm sick it's going to put a smile on my face and I will think about glorifying God even when I'm throwing up.
Ignoring the silliness of the lyrics, it isn't even doctrinally sound. We don't "hurl" our sins, God does the "hurling" for us through Christ. Ridiculous.
I see that the composer was really trying to make it fun and interesting to worship with these lyrics but honestly there are better words to teach children and better theories to teach children to worship God in a more genuine and heart felt way. Most children prob. would get confused. This to me seems some what of a disrespectful comparison and makes me kinda nauseous.
lukewarm? lukewarm has nothing to do with this. this song is epic! albeit a bit stupid :P but when I was 9? this would've been one of my favs! xD a way to be silly while praising God ^-^
and honest I think God loves to see kids smile and be silly when they praise Him, better than be bored to tears and associate Him with rules and things they can't relate to.
I dunno, perhaps I'm wrong. but I think it's rather awesome(:
I wonder how the whale got rid of Jonah? And was anything profound that happened because the whale threw up? Perhaps it's just sewage or too stupid or childish to discuss by people of faith.
and we wonder why kids grow up and leave the church... stupid songs like this only teach kids that Christianity is silly, childish, and lacking in substance. You want kids to stay in the church? give them something worth staying for!
The sheer fact the kids were making barfing sounds at the end of the song clearly shows this is disrespectful and disgusting. What a way to give thanks to the one who saved your sould from eternal hell...way to go worship leader.
I bet they thought this was so clever and relevant and just make the kids love the Lord. Instead, they insult the one they want to honor by minimizing worship to an sophomoric play on words. Shame on you!
@TWillPeck *From Extreme Faith - the person who made this video. First off, let me apologize for in any way upsetting you with the video. My entire life is about praising God and reaching out to the lost who don't know him. It was never my intenet to publish anything that would do anything but praise Him. I failed to consider the fact that the "clever words" in this song could be taken as anything but a clever play on words.
@extremefaith -- Discernment might be a good thing to exercise. It's something that comes with having the Holy Spirit in your heart. Tap into it. If you can't then it might be time to check your salvation because this is anything BUT glorifying to God. There are lost people in this world who know better than to speak of the Lord this way. Philippians 4:8 (There's nothing pure and lovely about puke)
@rightwingted Not that you asked, but here is the clean version of what I think about your comment. I think you are a sad lonely and pathetic creature, to be making a big deal and JUDGING the way people worship-not just their CREATOR- but their friend and savior. So why don't you take that stick of judgment, over seriousness and lifelessness out of your ASS!!!, and get YOURSELF some JOY. and a life. SMH. SN: I didn't claim CHristianity, but it would appear you do, and you are making it look BAD
@extremefaith - I appreciate your apology... most folks just get defensive and pontificate. I understand the desire to get kids motivated, however, we have to remember that we're worshiping the Creator of the universe, not Barney... some of us believe God defines a different, more reverent way to be worshiped in Scripture.
I teach children church to kids who are from ages of three to ten, and this is a very good song for that age range. my kids love this song and understand that it means to be able to worship the Lord and have fun. Being in Christ is about more than saying what you think others want to hear. It is about praising and loving our Lord, no matter how you do it, as long as you are true to his word. God bless.
@klschenk Are you kidding me..."this is a good song for that age range"? Are you seriously trying to say that this makes the kids think about God? NO, this song puts the focus off God and onto a body function. While funny (to a child) it is really crude and unseemly to use these to worship an Almighty, Awesome, Wonderful God.
Replace "Lord" or "God" with the name of your mother or husband or wife. You really wouldn't mind them singing a song of praise about them using these lyrics?
@TWillPeck Do all Christians a favor and never teach the youth. They will be bored to tears. God wants kids to learn to have fun while worshiping him. Lighten up! It has double meaning. Do you not throw your hands up to praise the Lord? Did you just try to put My mother, father, and husband (I am female) above God? not a great comparison if you were trying to prove a point. ;-( Epic fail.
@TWillPeck Dude! (or dudette) Why are you so quick to condemn? I think my mom and dad would laugh and enjoy themselves! God gave us the ability to laugh and enjoy relationship with Him and others. What do you think worship is anyway? Singing songs? Personally, I believe who you are and how you live your life, that is the ultimate worship. By living love I honor my Dear God.

vomit as praise? it is Abominable! God help us. Have we slide this far, that this can even remotely be considered worshiping our Lord. To teach that this is acceptable to children is outrageous. The so-called worship leader that approves of this will pay a HIGH PRICE and is in no way worthy of the position. may he repent and make amends to the damage he is perpetrating upon the youth.
@kellyfan25 It is unscriptural, we cannot "hurl" our own sins out the door. Col. 2:13 says: And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the ... ordinances ... against us, ... nailing it to his cross; Remember that Col. 3:16 says "teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, " Music in worship has a purpose far beyond being cool 'Praize"
@kellyfan25 Can you respond with scripture why you think you can get rid of your own sin? As far as I have read, God forgives(gets rid of) sin. You yourself cannot do that. You cannot take the place of God.
@tjhammond the meaning of this song that I am getting is that they are going to stop sinning. I see nothing wrong with that. it's all just how you look at it.
Isa 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near [me] with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
Mar 7:6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with [their] lips, but their heart is far from me.
People are commenting: Funny, LOL, HaHAHA. Is that the respect we have for our Lord and Savior for what he did on the CROSS! Do we think His sacrifice was FUN. Praise songs are FOR HIM, to GLORIFY Him and the FATHER with seriousness. Yes, we should teach "kids" jolly worship songs so that they can learn - BUT, children are also required to "REVERENCE" the Lord. Remember the Kids who mocked and called the Prophet Elisha "Baldy". They were attacked and killed by BEARS. - II Kings 2:23-25.
i wonder if there are going to be any demonic messages coming out when this is played backwards.... that would even prove the point even further this song from satan and down right blasphemous..
These songs I can't understand what they mean. They sound too much like Buddhist mantras in that they are repeated numerous times and nothing else. It's disgusting these tunes are "church" songs. But in a generation where anything goes, it seems that's the case. I was lambasted when I called Chris Tomlin's music "secular".
It seems EMI, Sony, Vivendi, and WMG are now selling anything as "worship" to pad their bottom Pound, Euro, Yen, or Dollar.
This is disgusting, sad, shameful, idiotic. Whoever wrote the lyrics I pray that you are awakened in the night out of a cold sweat heavy laden in conviction for making a mockery of the church. A greater accountability and judgment is on those who lead little children. Remember Jesus' warnings to those who stumble them! take your philosophical wordplay and your esoteric empty faith in the Lord somewhere else.
The first time I heard about this song was on Todd Friel's "Wretched" TV show. His comment (with which I happen to agree) was that children are not so stupid or inattentive that we should feel the need to condescend to them with "double-entendre" material such as this. On the other hand, songs based on Scripture passages have been shown to help many people, including children, to commit Bible verses to memory; I believe that this is what we need in this late hour.
Most of the kids forced to sing this drivel will be unbelievers within 15 years. They have no foundation, and college will destroy them. That's what makes me want to throw up.
ok really its a song for lil kids why are yall bugging out over it? really if this responds to 5 and 6 year old what does the lyrics mater if the worshiping god?
@gummiebearluver00 "What do the lyrics matter if they are worshiping God?" The question is this: What is this song saying about God? Is the song praising God for his mighty works and his grace and mercy? Or is the song making people think about vomit? "What do the lyrics matter?" They are saying nothing. They are wasting time that could be better spent teaching the kids "Jesus loves me, this I know." The last few seconds of **this** song shows you what the kids were thinking about.
I'm surprised that some of the earlier comments on this song were actually favorable. I wonder if the writers of this song ever read Leviticus 10, in which Nadab and Abihuu were struck dead for offering "strange fire to the Lord." If this isn't "strange fire" what is? God said through Moses,"By those who come near Me I must be regarded as holy and before all the people I must be glorified." ( 10:3)
I forgot to mention, David danced naked in the streets. Should that make it acceptable for us to do the same? David slept with his neighbor's wife, should we do the same? To add, in the western western world, dancing has a much different cultural connotation. To add, we can judge churches according to their doctrine. False doctrine will always separate the faithful church from the apostate church.
This is truly an example of vomitous crap that is more glorifying to the prince of this world than it is to the King of Glory. There is absolutely nothing Christian or praiseworthy about it. If something fails to mention Christ, who He is, and what He has done for our salvation, it cannot be Christian!!!
And as far as King David is concerned, it's but one example, not to mention that he was dancing in the streets, with no mention of dancing within the tabernacle itself.

WOW! this song is not a praise song, it MOCKS praise songs. I think it is HORRIBLE that they are teaching KIDS this garbage. And people wonder why these days some kids have NO respect for God, and use His name as a swear word.. THIS SONG MAKES ME WANT TO THROW UP.

The God of Love, not of condemnation, not of seriousness, and most certainly not of STANDARDS. Unconditional Love is where its at for Him. Do you realize who you praise?Do you? Do you?

Funny does not mean appropriate.
Where is respect for the Lord in this?

Because I don't think that a song mixing worship and vomiting is appropriate I should not be teaching children? Have you lost sight of your responsiblity when teaching?

@TheAmazingamerica This may seem like such a small issue to you and I can appreciate that, but think about what this song is conveying about God and it is demeaning and belittling the One who created you and me. That doesn't bother you a bit? That little children are being taught to equate God with vomit?
Shouldn't worship be about getting kids to think about God? Can you honestly say that this song honors and glorifies God?
TWillPeck 11 months ago
@TWillPeck I can see it from both points of view, I don't feel strong one way or another. Probably was thrown back a bit at first by the words. I would probably not like it if I had small children and they came home from church and were singing it. I like the tune.
TheAmazingamerica 11 months ago

TWillPeck 1 year ago

I would personally use a song that is fun and teaches truths about God instead of potty humor being called praise.

i think im gonna throw up at your comment. you don't "praise" our crucified Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by placing HIS HOLY name in the same sentece as barf. while it may be disgusting or some may feel it is irrevererant, think about this, while kids are being silly and pretending to throw up or just be silly, they are getting the message...and when they are thirty they are going to remember this song, and probably, I would say more than likely be trained in the way they should go and not depart...just a thought...we really need to meet people where they are and that goes for children too...hey Jesus did

If you can't then it might be time to check your salvation because this is anything BUT glorifying to God. There are lost people in this world who know better than to speak of the Lord this way. Philippians 4:8 (There's nothing pure and lovely about puke)

@extremefaith - I appreciate your apology... most folks just get defensive and pontificate. God bless.
klschenk 1 year ago
@klschenk Are you kidding me..."this is a good song for that age range"? Are you seriously trying to say that this makes the kids think about God? NO, this song puts the focus off God and onto a body function. While funny (to a child) it is really crude and unseemly to use these to worship an Almighty, Awesome, Wonderful God.
Replace "Lord" or "God" with the name of your mother or husband or wife. You really wouldn't mind them singing a song of praise about them using these lyrics?
TWillPeck 1 year ago 2
@TWillPeck Do all Christians a favor and never teach the youth. They will be bored to tears. God wants kids to learn to have fun while worshiping him. Lighten up! It has double meaning. Do you not throw your hands up to praise the Lord? vomit as praise? it is Abominable! God help us. Have we slide this far, that this can even remotely be considered worshiping our Lord. To teach that this is acceptable to children is outrageous.
