i take krav maga fighting classes but want to do mma next year after my contract is up, my question is if i learn this for the next year how much will it blend in with what a mma class is going to teach me. is it similar at all? i watch the ufc and it looks like what i want to be doing...cage fighting.... some of my stuff is similar like the striking but krav maga is a self defense not a ring fighting sport
This show was so fun. I took krav maga and didn't like it much; I prefer the martial arts that are more sport oriented since there's more opportunity to practice and compete. Still, this training looks really hard and really fun.
@qaz43271 Martial Art:.a extensive system of codified practices and traditions of"combat"that are practiced for a variety of reasons including"self-defense,competition,physical health, fitness, mental, and spiritual development"...YES! Krav Maga it is a martial art!
so what!..it doesn`t look"pretty"..and considering what and why it was developed its not suppose too.,but that doesn`t mean its not a legit martial art.
@masterknaster Unfortunately I can't upload any videos longer than 15 minutes to YouTube anymore, due to copyright infringement that I supposedly made. Sorry
@abk1ng Most jews are from the Semitic racial group (same as Arabs), so not surprising that they look similar. Of course, there's also Arab jews and Black jews etc., since jewishness is not exactly a race.
From 14:00 to 18:00 is the proof that Brazilian Jiujitsu is something you do not want to use! If you use it, don't use it for too long and get on your feet!
@sharkdark666 there is no such thing as a "secret islamic martial art"
@rasssh777 brilliant comment but this goes to u Krav Maga is more than self-defense, and it isnt a martial art either because it isnt a sport and it is more than that.
@darksuprememaster's comment about how israel defeated the arabs is spot on, and that same mentality is shown in Krav Maga...
Sgt Rory Miller said in his book Meditations on Violence that the only "flow" in a real world violent encounter should be your opponents blood. Real world violence is not poetic or beautiful rehearsed and choreographed art. It is ugly, fast and close. If you want to train in an physical art form do breakdancing. Krav is real and for me a way of life: the "never quit" principle - applies to many things that I do.
@iamthereallebowski I would also argue that martial arts these days are so diluted from what they were originally meant to be (self defence/combat) that the original masters would not recognize what we know as martial arts in the western world these days - innefective kata and fancy dress for fat guys. You can't play chinese whispers for 400 years across continents and different languages without losing all merit.
ever wonder why how israelis defeated jordanians, syrians and egyptians at the same time? during moshe dayan and ben gurion's time? because they leave no margin of error.
@gabbagoob1 dude no offense but i won't consider your classification of krav maga as a non-martial arts just because it doesn't fit in what you believe in. there is a standard basis for classifying it as a martial art and obviously you're here and commenting because you're fascinated by it. i agree with your hulkout666. btw, gabbagoob1 there is a philosophy in krav maga: it's a way of thinking or mindset which is called "aggression" and you have to survive no matter what.
@gabbagoob1 And why exactly do you say there is no art in it? Do you think that martial arts has to have fancy or wasted movements in it? Wing Chun also does not have fancy moves and it's certainly a martial art. Boxing is very straight forward and it's a martial art. Any system that is created for combat is a martial art. Krav Maga is no exception.
@hulkout666 Krav maga has no flow and has nothing to offer but basic self defence. It has no philosophy behind it and no way of life. Like i said its just pure basic self defense. And no i don't. Yea your right about wing chun but wing chun turns you into something great and has a philosophy of a never ending progession. I'm a boxer. I have been doing it for six years and it is not an art. It's a sport. You are wrong, a martial art is more than just a fighting system its also a way of life.
@gabbagoob1 I understand what you're saying, but I don't agree. Discipline, humility, respect are attributes that should come from learning martial arts. You can get that from boxing, MMA, or other less traditional martial arts. It's up to the individual. Believe me, from my Wing Chun training, I've seen plenty of punk ass students and even sifus without an ounce of respect. I've also met boxers and MMA guys who were very respectful. All martial arts train body , mind, and spirit if you let it.
@hulkout666 For sure dude, and I am not disagreeing with that i currentry train in mma and my heroes are mostly professional mma fighters but I also started out in very traditional martial arts so I have a pretty good perspective on both sides. All im saying is krav maga is good for self defence and military use but I dont feel the art in it.
@hulkout666 To be fair, I think part of the reason some people don't consider Krav Maga an art is that it has a shorter learning curve than most other "martial arts".
@ummonk I hadn't thought of that, but I see your point. But It's important to point out that even the simplest of martial arts techniques can take years or even decades to master. For example, Wing Chun appears to be so simple, but there are fine points that even my sifu is still learning after 50 years of training. I don't know much about Krav Maga, but I'm sure that even though it has a shorter learning curve to get basic skills, getting really advanced will still take a long time
Doug wanted to cry.. Haha Krav Maga is the personal defense for excellence

It's islamophobia...
Personally, I hate israel, this pseudo-state invented & racist ( I am for one state, I am for the free Palestine !!!)
Other than that, Krav maga it's just self-defense and marketing ... nothing extraordinary.
