I resonate with Sorcerer. I've been asked if I am a witch, two years ago I was born as a solitary practitioner through ritual. On the whole, I feel that sorcerer is more politically correct and it just feels better. The more I learn of others and their practices, the more I come to understand that there is a science to this, and it's repeatable. We are instinctively drawn to magical practice, some of us more so than others..but we, humans, are into magick.
In most respects he is right. Things that would be considered magic even 65 years ago are here now and are regarded as mundane or cheap. But what you know but don't understand is electronics is the manipulation of electricity, lightning! Medicine is potion making and even transmutation of lead into gold has been done in a university in Japan!
I love how just about every explanation of magic(k) utterly and completely fails at really explaining it, and tends to change from explanation to explanation.
Not even once are we given a hint at what its effects are, and the more base explanation of it as being "any act of will that has effect on reality" leads to the further issue of why the hell involve not only the use of words/phrases with historical/mythological of starkly differing significance, but also why scribble "magic" circles.
Seriously, taking a mundane phenomena and slapping on a charged set of words or phrases to it is as intellectually dishonest as it gets, and is just outright manipulative in its efforts to gain some sort of legitimacy it doesn't deserve.
It's like calling "Any act which leads to the birth of new ideas/concepts" something like "Genesisology" or "The Spark of Creation" and the trying to seriously debate that shit as an independent phenomena in the world, rather than your on-the-spot rebranding.
