When you go out in Public, that means you are in PUBLIC. A national ID card has no more information than a DRIVING LICENSE. Do drivers feel discriminated against when the police ask to see it? NO!!!

I would be able to give him my TRUE name and address. He would therefore know I have not broken the law in the past, INSTANTLY. A criminal, on the other hand, could not LIE about his name and address, to avoid arrest.

Hello, yes it was. I watched that film 'Taking Liberties' for the first time last week, a very good film, highly highly recommended. The beginning part with the police forcing the bus door closed with protesters on it is quite shocking, also forcing the bus to stay on route too. The whole film was good and does a good job at highlighting the way our rights/liberties have been severley stripped. I will try to upload the whole film when I get the chance!
