i have no clue how your phones battery last so long i did every thing that you said to save battery and i get maybe 6 hours of battery life on my phone and it is annoying as hell so if you could help me out a little bit that would be awsome i just bought the phone not even 2 weeks ago

You shouldn't be using a task killer with the HTC hero. Using it on the Linux based phone can actually cause problems.

gps being on does not use any resources when not being used. Mine is on all the time and works fine. I also think task killers cause more damage then good. Killing the wrong thing my cause you to get force closes in "sense"...good vid though

gps doesn't use ram/memory when its turned on, but it does use the battery, if you have yours gps turned off when you don't use it youll find your battery life will improve, as it did with me anyways.

just got mine today. it's waiting to be activated to the store then imma go to pick it up. Where do you get your wallpapers? I usually get mine from zedge. Also, can you use any picture that has a landscape setup as your background?

i get most of mine from just launching the browser and looking for pictures online and saving them to the phone lol, any picture can be a background, your taken to an option with pictures where you can resize them to landscape. Hope this helps , don't forget to subscribe.

Im not sure what you mean , Android 2.1 is a software refrence not hardware. And that software has already been confirmed by both htc and sprint to be hitting the htc hero in the first half of next year. So no , you don't need to buy a new phone. Though new phones coming out next year will come preloaded with said software. Hope this helps don't forget to subscribe!

is it worth picking up this late in the game? i'm hoping to maybe pick up the next gen of phones since i'm about to sign up with sprint, but I can't afford to be phoneless for that long and can't pay for the phone w/o the subsidized price due to the contract.

can't make that decision for you, but i will tell you this. Usually when good htc/android phones hit, they hit over seas first and then a couple months later US carriers get their hands on them. hero, magic,touch pro 2, hd2 etc all hit over seas first. So keep that i mind, even if they do comeout we usually get them last. Second, the Hero is confirmed to be upgradeable to 2.1 by both sprint and htc, so while hardware might be old software wont. I've used a task killer (TaskPanel, Taskiller, Advanced Task Killer) for a couple months. I also decided to remove them and go a month without one. Battery life was not noticeably different. I am back to using TaskPanel, but instead of manually killing apps I just use the auto-kill parameters I've setup.

Yea , andriod does a pretty good job of managing tasks on its own, for me the task killer really is more about managing the ram, the phone does tend to get slow if you let too many things go on at once lol sigh...snapdragon where art thou. Don't forget to subscribe

hey when you put that silicone case on it did it make the phone bulky cause i wear somewhat skinny jeans and i need to to fit haha but id rather have protection so does it protect too

it does make the phone bullky, depending what kind of case you get. The one i have is bulk but does a great job of protecting the phone. Dropped it on gravel twice and no scratches, but i cant keep it in pocket, the soft rubber gips the pocket so its hard to slide it in and out. Hope that helps
