Sorry, but you do not have knowledge of the defensive training dogs. You wrote some stuff about the GSD, and cane. Here you have a cane man who makes work a pleasure. Please God for all the work for GSD and Mal. Did you see how the other molos in the IPO? What you're saying stuff about the cane?
What....IPO doesn't mean a damn thing. You take a Sch dog of any level and many of them can't do real work. This is a sport, routine, and you stray away from that routine they lose it. Cane are defensive they are more serious dogs. They are naturally calm until threatened and that is why it is best to work them in prey, and that's why the guy is being somewhat animated. You don't understand character of the breed. You need more patience and if your a fan you will take your time, period.
The dog is too passive at work. Man is to be very active. Dog hangs on achievements rather than fight for it. A man has as much pressure on the dog. The initiative must always be on the dog and not human beings at the IPO.
This is very good for a Cane Corso because they work in defense all the time. So this is great for this breed type with low prey. Of course you have Mals and GSDs and other breeds that love the fight, but with more training like this he will be on the right track.
Majority of these types of dogs are too serious for sports work, but you have your few that excel.
This dog is withdrawn, the work does not make it fun. Exert strong pressure on the dog may come to a bad end. This dog is not good for sport and a real defense. You wrote about this genre is the truth and the more a guide to resign from the coach. Otherwise may have serious problems with the dog. This is not a GSD, who forgive mistakes.
The dog seems fine to me. You must not have worked with a Mollosser breed before. The decoy put some defense on the dog.
These dogs haven't been bred to fight man in centuries. But when they are tuned properly they put up a fight equal or better then any Mal or GSD, and with more biting power and ferocity. They are NOT GSDs but not everyone likes GSDs (me included) But taking nothing from there work drive. You don't seem to be a fan of the Corso...Cool...not for everyone
I hope to see Tito soon down in Texas..... September Navasota 40 minutes north/west of Houston, Contact Wil or check out the Irondog website. Take care Ray Barrera
