Really... I had a little old 97 gst that was bone stock and killed daytona chargers with their 425hp. Then i put a $5 boost controller on it and with an extra 3lbs i REALLY killed them, and most other things. Then i put a little bigger turbo on it at the same 15lbs and got bored because there wasn't anything in 250 miles that put up a good fight. That's gone now and i have a 350Z that was fast stock. Now it's got a 7lb procharger on it and again, i'm bored. Dont tell me an import isnt fast...

Youre sooo full of sh!t. SRT8 Challengers are considerably faster than SRT8 Chargers thanks to their weight savings and 6 speed and right off the dyno i SMOKED a challenger. Sure they make some big hp #s but they also have some big scale #s. They fact is that theyre just too heavy to be that fast. A VQ35 with a SC on it will ALWAYS beat a charger thats even remotely close to stock (intake, exhaust, etc.) wether its in a 350Z or a G35. Deal with it
imports are economy cars, its a Reason why the call them muscle cars. This is the Great USA and Muscle cars will always be the king of the street. Imports are ok, but you need to know your place, and its not at the drag strip. Old school is where its at. I owned an import never put one mod on it, why should I its still going to be slow. The 2jz supra engine has outpowered many of your 5.0+L v8's/V10's, the supra is basically the muscle of import, but it can handle like a motherfucker which is a bonus that you dont get in muscle cars. I am a big fan of both import/muscle, but in the end i would take an import over domestic anyday
I like the supra safety net to,its a beast after you spend Mad Cash on it. I am not speaking for myself i am tied up with family and this and that money wise so i do not have a project. But for the record if you come to Columbia SC. I would say 90% of the imports here are holding there own compared to the domestics.I would say on a Daily Driven car most of the imports dominate the fox body's the corvette's in the race scene down her. I would also say the 90% goes also for the trailered cars we have as well down here.
I like my turbo I-4 MR2,.. I can dial up the boost a bit and get good fun (I make over 300 @ the wheels w/ just boost control and a few bolt-ons completely stock otherwise, less than a grand spent on mods) It's 0-60 is in the low 4 second range which is more than enough for me, I average about 25mpg, I'm not easy on it, though. All this and it has never given me a problem in over 5 years of ownership!!! p.s. it's a 1991 with about 200 thousand miles on the clock
Do you understand that a supra can take 700+ hp on the stock motor and still last just as long as your corvette and go way WAY faster? The 2JZ can get upwards of 1300hp because it comes stock with forged internals. Of course u will need to upgrade the turbo and fuel management system among other things, but talking about the stock block/internals yeah :)
Easy power from these great engines! Ive seen a pro import celica powered with the 2jz that makes 2200hp and holds the current New Zealand pro import record at 6.53 with better times to come. Stock standard they are an awesome engine...

At this show the imports win a fair majority. In the usual 10 second or slower classes the track gives 4 cylinders 1 power adder vs no power adder for V8. So you can have a 15 second 273 cubic inch Dodge Dart and run a GSR swapped Civic Turbo running 10.90. Makes now sense.
If you dont allow a power adder for small displacement V8's then the rules dont make sense. Most guys in the domestic crowd are not wasting their time with a paltry 273 cubic inches. 302 at least, but thats not even fair. You have to allow at least 3 times the displacement for for it to be fair any way. I say under 350 cu in the domestic gets a power adder. 110 cu in of import is not so eaisly beaten.

Do you understand that a supra can take 700+ hp on the stock motor and still last just as long as your corvette and go way WAY faster? The 2JZ can get upwards of 1300hp because it comes stock with forged internals. Of course u will need to upgrade the turbo and fuel management system among other things, but talking about the stock block/internals yeah :)

Making a 12 second pass in an import is like coming out of the closet; you might surprise a few people but in the end, you're still just a fag. I don't see how there is an argument here. 8 cylinders or 4? 350+ cubic inches or 2.0 liters? the answer is plain to see ok hopsang? Sure you can make a rice burner go fast with hours and hours of R&d and 1,000's of dollars but they lose all reliability and still look and sound retarded whereas a V8 car is fast in stock form and reliable even when juiced

well, there are alot of reasons to squeeze performance from a "rice burner". firstly, those hondas are like go karts in size and weight, muscle cars "can" get pretty heavy. secondly, who cares how much time u put in it, in the end its all for fun, id spend the rest of my life working on a car if i could =D. but one of the biggest issues is comparing an old civic=2,000, new corvette, 60,000. you spend ten grand on the civic it'll prolly eat the vette. not hating on muscle, just my opinion.

At this show the imports win a fair majority. In the usual 10 second or slower classes the track gives 4 cylinders 1 power adder vs no power adder for V8. So you can have a 15 second 273 cubic inch Dodge Dart and run a GSR swapped Civic Turbo running 10.90. Makes now sense.

If you dont allow a power adder for small displacement V8's then the rules dont make sense. Most guys in the domestic crowd are not wasting their time with a paltry 273 cubic inches. 302 at least, but thats not even fair. You have to allow at least 3 times the displacement for for it to be fair any way. I say under 350 cu in the domestic gets a power adder. 110 cu in of import is not so eaisly beaten.
and on this video, where do you see a 15 second Domestic racing a 10 second Civic?

Good points, I think what I am trying to point out is simply we are not seeing this Funny car Top Fuel technology trickle its way down to street cars. They were making 8,000hp funnies in the 70's. However Honda takes their F1 technology and puts in in their (Type R)etarded engines, as you like to call it. BTW how much money have you personally made from Top Fuel dragsters?
