  • i own a 07 V6 mustang and this sounded like shit. sounded like straight up rod knock.

  • @mean71cuda a cammed engine with open headers sounds like that....especially with the echo of a garage...

  • how much did you spend on all the mods?

  • dude..whered u get the cams and headers

  • @wonderbreadkw Check out the heads and cams at supersixmotorsports . com and headers idk

  • V6 POWER BABY!!! This is AWESOME! I think it is so cool how ppl are making the v6 more powerful and doing mods to make it beat a GT! :) I have a 2005 Red V6, It is stock except the K&N air filter and duals. I really wanted to get a chip and cold air intake. But now that I watched this video, I want to make mine sound like that :) how much were the cams? and the headers?

  • hey cabuzzi quick question what were the specs for the cams, and where did you find the mac long tube headers?

  • hey cabuzzi first off nice work on the v8 swap wouldnt mind seeing more videos on that, but i got a question for you where did you buy those mac headers and what were the specs for your cams? thanx

  • The car he already has is more powerful. Why would he pay 20,000+ (used) for a less powerful car?

  • FYI, there are plenty of V6's out there running better times than stock GT500s. I never really addressed my traction problems, plus the air up here in Colorado Springs (6400ft) is not conducive to good track times. I've got a buddy that broke 10s with a single turbo and a built 4.0L V6. There's much more to speed than just displacement.

That being said, I'm a huge V8 fan. The car now has 5.4L 3v from an F150 in it. It was a hell of a job, but the car is great.

    Check out my other videos.

  • yea man i cannot find where to get aftermarket cams for the 4.0....please help

  • Talk with Tom @ Super Six Motorsports. The most aggressive cams require the stage 3 heads, though. They won't run in stock heads with stock springs.

  • that is one monsterous sounding v6 great job, plan on useing some supersix parts on my 95 v6, i have heard best bang for you buck, great work car sounds amazing.

  • The SSM stuff is actually BETTER (in my opinion) fort the 3.8L stuff. The 4.0L is a difficult engine to work around.

For example, Tom can make you a 4.3L out of a 3.8L. Doing the same with a 4.0L is nearly impossible.

  • nice to see people putting effort into 6's

  • Comment removed

  • where did you get the cam and what brand is it

  • Stage 3 cams from Super Six Motorsports. Only compatible with accompanying Stage 3 heads. These cams will not work with stock heads.

  • Show us a video of this bad boy at the strip, heating up the tires, launching, going thru the gears, and times. Please.

  • Man what a bad car! I love it more power than a v8 and still better gas milage right on!

  • what kind of cam?

  • Stage 3 cams from SSM (super six motorsports)

  • ...unless your argument is sound, then yes, the GTs sound better.

  • Just so everyone knows, the amount I spent on blower, heads and cams is less than the additional cost of the GT. I've done other things to the car of course, but they're things I would've done to the GT as well (wheels, stereo, etc...).

In the end, a GT dynos 260 to the rear wheels, mine dyno'd 440 to the rear wheels.

    Where's your argument?

  • im not even kidding, get ur ass on the road and start SMOKING the GTs

  • this is goin my v6 stang in the future, except im goin with vortech :) only way to go

  • just so you guys know, the supersixmotorsports stage 3 heads and cams are about 2200 but if you sent your old heads and cams bcak to them they will buy them for about $300-350 so you're really only paying 1900 for a part that gives you like 25+ max hp and around 80hp in the lower end of your rpm range

  • Your fucking retarded. The price of the V6 and the procharger is LESS than your V8, but the funny thing is, us "little boys" are the ones kicking ass. This car is much stronger than your V8.

  • If I did all this to my V6 Mustang, it would kick the rims right off your GT. Just because it came off the explorer doesnt mean its a bad engine. Its a strong engine with lots of potential. you just need the right know-how to unlock that potential.

  • That made no sense at all. I have a 300ZX Twin Turbo which kicks a lot of asses. Not every V8 is powerfull.

  • dude that is sick. i am so glad it sounds that good because i am ordering the same heads and cams next month. i'm also getting an sts turbo instead of the procharger but it should put out about the same amount of power. i was just wondering if you have anything else besides the heads cams supercharger and the headers back. i have a long list of bolt on parts including long tubes and and aluminum drive shaft and new clutch and release bearing.

  • I have a bunch of stuff left for sale on my Mustang, the full supercharger kit as well. I just need to fully list them.

  • where did you get the heads from?

  • i asked the same question. he said they were stage 3 heads and cams from super six motorsoports

  • sounds schueet! but I hate that color! legend lame! ugh!

  • Where did you get the procharger from? I've looked everywhere.

  • trade that thing in for a v8!!! if you were gonna sink that much money into the motor, imagine how much more power you would have after those mods on an 8.

  • well the v8 mustang is only .6 liters bigger. And weighs more.

  • do the heads and cams make a big difference in sound i have jba shorty headers and jba dual exhaust i want a little more deeper aggressive tone ehat should i do

  • how much would it cost to get new heads installed and where should i get them installed

  • Ya a v6 that will rape a gt

  • eh still a V6

  • at least its not a civic.

  • sounds damn good for a v6 im impressed

  • can't wait to get my supercharger!

  • I called ssm the stage III is pricey $2300 then shipping..shit im thinkin about just going with the heads

  • Fucking wanker , Sounds Like shit to Me

  • Remind me to kick your fucking head in next time I'm in the Netherlands...

  • trilpen, you are a fucking tard. I wonder how much you make. I bet you still live with your parents. This is my FIRST V6, and I've done well with it. I have a 5.4L I'm about to swap in... FROM A FORD F150! I have more knowledge about cars in my left hand than you have in your entire body.

Do a google search for "4.0L to 5.4L" and tell me what you get... you twit.

  • *stands up, and claps*

  • Thank you, sir!

  • are you on freeking drugs homo. that is the nicest sounding V6 ever. just about sounds better than a GT or shelby GT500.

  • how do you get your V6 to sound like that??

  • Hahah, simple. Run nothing but headers. :)

When I swapped the heads and cams, I also switched to long tube headers. I had to take it to the exhaust shop to get the old exhaust cut shorter and reflanged.

It's very hard to make the 4.0 sound "good". The best you can do is go with a set of Corsa axlebacks. They sound wonderful, but are EXPENSIVE.

  • where did you get the heads and cams? How much?

  • Super Six Motorsports. You can check out the prices on their site... just realize there is more to the swap. You will be replacing a lot of bolts and gaskets, which drive the price up. Plus, only an experienced mechanic should do the work. It took me three days to do the swap, and I've been working on cars for a long time.

  • what types of cams and heads did you use.

I want my car to sound exactly like yours. Im going to get the JBA headers though.

  • I am selling my complete 4.0. I should have it out of the car soon. Not sure on the price yet, but it won't be much more than it would cost to buy all the parts and have the heads/cams professionally installed... plus you'd get the rest of the engine. You can keep your current as a spare.

  • I would buy yout engine, but all i want to do right now is headers, vortech supercharger, and true duals. get 300 hp and go roadracing. Later, after i get through post-sec schooling and find a job I was going to put a 302 or 342 crate engine in my car.

  • Did you rig up the 02 sensors somehow? Or did you not care for the short time it was running?

  • This is the reason why I haven't traded my V6 in on a GT :)

  • you dont get the enjoyment of saying you have a v8 though. that alone is worth it

  • Who cares? What's really worth it is the look on V8 Mustang owners faces when they realized they just got spanked by a V6...

  • Very true, but it's nearly impossible to resist the sound of a 4.6 w/ straight pipes.

  • Yes. 8-cylinders definitely rule when it comes to sound.

  • yo can u send me the Cam brand and info where u got it I am uilding a 4.0 2007 mustang and I have a little done to it look and sounds great and cannot find cams thnx JMAN!

  • What are your hp and tq numbers?

  • I will post new numbers tomorrow afternoon at 14psi.

  • Send me the CAM brand I want one and give me some info on it i heard u had problems with tuning?

  • You can get the cams from Super Six Motorsports. They're regrinds of stock cams. To run the cams, you have to get Stage 3 heads as well.

I had problems because the cams were 1.5 degrees off on one side. There are no keys in the cams, so it's tough to get it 100%.

  • how did you brake in the cam? are you useing a colder plug? have you tryed 98/100 octane? did you change the injectors? mass air?. tame the timeing down below 36?

  • Since installing the supercharger, I've upped the boost from 9psi to 14psi, which I'm currently running now. I use premium at the pump and watch my A/F mix with dual AEM wideband A/F gauges to ensure I don't go lean at any point. Timing is currently set to 23* at WOT, of course, it goes a lot higher when the car is in closed-loop operation.

  • **CAUTION** Unless you're running race gas, 23* is probably not safe for those living at a lower altitude than me. I can run much more timing due to living at 6400ft

  • damn. if i were u i wouldnt run nething less than 98. 23 psi, wouldnt chance it with 93. way too beautiful

  • Not sure what you mean, unless you're talking octane. Also, I run 14psi, not 23 psi. The stock block is good to around 450 RWHP, so I won't be pushing it anymore. A stock GT puts down about 260 RWHP.

  • yes i was talking octane. and i thought i read a comment with you saying that you can turn it up to 23 psi bc of your altitiude. my gt was stock at once and dyno it put down 287. as for the v6 over v8, is each his own. and how many horses are you putting out?

  • 23* is the highest "commanded" timing. If you understand how the Spanish Oaks processor works, you'll know commanded timing is rarely seen, based on IATs, AFR, engine coolant temp, etc...

If I were at sea level, I would have to drop 4* from the commanded timing.

I'm currently 440 RWHP, but I'm going to a 5.4L from an F150. Do a search for "flapjack's project" at Mustangcollective dot com.

  • and what tranny are u gonna put in it?

and putting a 5.4L in it, so your gonna loose your "i beat a v8 with a v6 pride?"

  • I'll be going with a built 6-speed TR6060 from D&D Performance. They should have them ready to sell in a few weeks.

  • why would you buy a wierd green color mustang?

  • Totally irrelevant and ridiculous.

  • I concur. You gotta love the ported v6 sound right man.

  • Definitely. Unfortunately, it quieted up quick when I got the exhaust done. I'll have to save my V8 sound desires for my 1975 280Z with a Chevy 350 in it. That's close to running, too. Look for a video soon...

  • What sense does it make to post a video with a spcific setup, start it up idle and kill it? A little rev to hear some power makes a big difference

  • The cams were still fresh. I took that video the day I finished installing them. I also had no exhaust other than headers on, hence the beefy sound. It doesn't sound anything like that now....

  • I got the rich problem straightened out. Turns out the cams needed to be "degreed". I didn't have the right tools, so I took it to Ford. They were able to get it set up for a reasonable price. Now I'm sitting at 152psi compression on each side, w/o the supercharger. :)

  • Rev it :)

  • How does it run on the street? You are one of the first S197 V6 folks to post a vid on a motor running both a supercharger AND the SSM cam setup. Any tuning problems? Did you run a 'canned' tune w/ that supercharger or did you have to get a custom tune done?

  • The car is insane, but still streetable. I'm still having some issues I had originally thought was tune-related. I've had three tunes done and the car is still running so rich it's causing misfires. You don't really feel it while driving... but my A/F is kinda screwy. The common theory is that I messed up one or both of the front O2 sensors during the head/cam installation. I'll be replacing those this weekend to see if it clears up...

The original tune was custom-made by RPM Outlet.

  • I want to hear it rev! Sounds sweet!

  • ditto
