If he does it around the house and you can't stop him, that is probably ok but I wouldn't encourage him to jump that high - it's not good for his hips.
So does Harvey but we don't have to do it for JUMPING, only for AGILITY. The best way to train poles is to set up about 6 of them but don't set them in a straight line - put them about a foot apart. Run Earl down the middle of them to a target (food in a sealed container) at the other end. Once he gets there, open the lid and give him the treat. Slowly (over a period of weeks to months), move the poles together and only allow him to have the treat if he completes the poles properly.
jw how high can shitzues jump coz i got three the girls relii athletic she caan jump very high but the boys dont ? and i dnt wna hert the bone struture? somebody tell me ? i also post a vid on here :D
Don't make them jump too high because you will put a strain on the hips. Let them only jump what they can or no higher than about 7-8" (Harvey's jumps are 7.5" and that is the official height in Australia for his shoulder-height which is a little over 10"). Impossible to say how high they can jump as all are different and some have longer legs than others, and some have bad hips also.
This shows just how stubborn shihtzus can be LOL!! My little Murphy would ac the same way! Although after that first little time he got distracted he did great! I would love to get Murphy into this!
lol....I loved when he just took off on his own...lol...so cute !!!
