  • I've never heard Tony Benn complain about us not getting referendum about mass immigration. He only wants referendums on things he disagrees with.

  • @Edgey1988 Well yes. That is true of most people.

  • @jacksawild No, most people want referendums because they believe in democracy.

  • Heath hated Thatcher. He wasn't all bad!

  • Repulsive human being. Stabbed Powell in the back. Nice move cunt.

  • @BENJIMANBREEG33 Powell stabbed his own Party in the back when he gave his speech without telling anyone at all.

  • @ganonisthebest Thats also a good point lol. But he knew it was the only way. He acted like a real man, not a puppet politician, cause he was saying something that needed to be said. He put his carer as well as his life at risk, by saying it. This country would be in a much better state if we'd listened to him.

  • He was well to the left of Tony Blair in every respect... YES!

  • Tony Benn, one of the most scintilating speakers in any country's politics, is a marvel here as he pays a justified warm tribute to the last of the civilised conservatives to run the Tory Party.

  • Heath should have been hanged for his treachery- look at the state of us now!

  • @LeamingtonSteve Blame Callaghan for that, not Heath. Next thing you'll be slagging off Harold Macmillan who was actually one of the best leaders this country ever had. Isn't there ANY leader you actually thought did a decent job??

  • @LeamingtonSteve Heath did nothing wrong you fucking faggot. It was that cunt Callaghan who screwed us over and sold us off. The country was still doing well when Heath was in power then when he left in 1974, Harold Wilson took over then sunny Jim Callaghan went into the office and look what happened there. Thatcher said she would get us out of strik which she did, eventually but then SHE fucked us up as did Blair and Brown and Cameron. Major is excluded because he was trying to put us upfront.

  • @snowfield667 i was referring to him being a swiveleyed eurofanatic

  • @LeamingtonSteve Okay you're not going to believe me, but my brother wrote that comment and he is in a really foul mood and for some reason he logged onto my computer using my account and I forgot to log out so I'm sorry you recieved such a rude response. Personally I agree with him because I don't think Edward Heath was all that bad. And it wasn't his fault we were led into economy crisis in 1974. Harold Wilson could have done a better job but he wasn't well then as for when he was down for 2.

  • lovely stuff ..wish they made them like this now xx

  • @SarahAntsez Too true.

  • @winifred. Yes, Heath was one of the good guys. Can't see anyone like that on the govt benches at the moment! However, you've got it wrong about his admiration of Franco - just the opposite, in fact - as Tony reminds us, he supported the International Brigade during the Spanish Civil War.

  • @rh65536 Heath was a career politician and a traitor to the British people.

  • @MrGilles1990 i dont think so ..

  • @IRememberTheOldDays He sold Britain off to the EU, just as Philippe Pétain sold France to Germany.

Heath was a part of the political elite that only thing about themselves and their careers.

As for the International Brigade, thank god they lost, because we all know how bad communism is.

  • @MrGilles1990 yes, communism can go die in a hole. Heath wasnt so bad and at least this guy is likable and relatable.

  • @IRememberTheOldDays He might have been, but that should not gloss over the fact that he is guilty of treason.

  • What a master is Tony Benn - rare synthesis of thought, an unfailing sense of style to dress the message, and a humane pulse behind everything he says. It's enough to make me re-consider Ted Heath, who I have thought was a Macmillan Tory of principle but who had an early enthusiasm for Franco if memory serves.

  • Heath may have had some decent principles but he was a useless PM. Almost as bad as Brown.
