1:20 The actual height of the Royal Gorge Bridge is considerably lower than the posted "1,053 FT." Somebody using a Lazar finder discovered it to be actually 955 feet. Officials now admit that the "1,053" figure is probably from atop the bridge's towers. There is now a suspension bridge in China that is 1,550 feet from deck to water. Imagine standing in the middle of the Royal Gorge Bridge and looking straight up 60 storeys to the underside of the current record holder.
I love the Royal Gorge. I've been there about 7 times. The first time was when I was 6. I moved from Colorado to Arizona in 1999. I went & visited in 2008 and that was one of the first things I did. Went to the Royal Gorge.
