Personally, I quite enjoyed the IB. That's probably because the course at the uni I was going to only required a pass at IB (plus the UCAS points I got for grade 8 cello) and didn't ask for any specific grades. I was 90% sure that, as long as I passed higher chemistry, I would get into my first choice uni. And I did. This video highlights the mould that the IB is; I have many of the same 'symptoms' of IBitis that someone on the other side of the world has!

IB. The number one reason I hate its guts is that it can do whatever it wants with us, no matter how riddicculous or incoherent. It demands huge sacrifices from our part continually throughout what could be the best years of our lives (certainly the last without real responsibility) and we do it for the benefit they say it brings. Well, I know a guy who had a predicted 45 points and a great CAS record and he wasn't accepted at Oxbrige. So, yeah. Sux to be us.

@domrepfvh Yeah, but that applies differently in some cases. If you work your *** off for 2-4 years getting the grades and the CAS and you end up in some community college then yeah, college is going to be easier for you. If you end up at Stanford or Obxrige, maybe not so much.

I suffered in IB to collect the grades and all 972 of my CAS hours, and I definitely ended up in a fantastic programme at one of the top schools in my country. AND IB still let me skip half a year. I think it's all about how much effort you put into it. Use IB to your advantage, and you'll be able to benefit from it regardless what university/college you end up at.

I, for example, am depending heavily on the advantages of the IB over other systems to get into a good college myself (that is a different discussion), but what I am saying is that there is a lot of hype about it. I have visited many top colleges in recent months and what I have learned there and from this years seniors is that they don't really care as much as our IB coordinators and councillors would like us to think.
