As a firefighter from Ray City I can say we were happy to have helped out. I now have a memorial fire truck with all the names of firefighters who have died in the line of duty from Georgia on it and I am goingto add something about the wild fires on the truck. actually there are few to no animal casualties as far as wild animals go, the ones that dies may have been older, sick or just too tired to go anymore.
Actually, we have a good bit of video of bones left after the fire. It came in from all sides at times, trapping some of the animals, as it almost did some of our firemen. There were LOTS of wild animals lost during this fire, and I would feel safe in saying most were healthy beforehand. This was actually some of the best "hunting land" around in this area. Sad to see so many animals gone.

Great video!Very touching...Many of us do not realize what is actually going on down there in South Ga.But this video was very informative and makes you heart stop for a minute.Thanks to "ALL" the Firefighters and Volunteers, etc...That are all trying to get these fires under control!!!

I was there when all of this was going on I stayed a full 8 day tour. This is one fire I will never forget.

Eh, I live down the road from the fire. Cut some wood there. There is nothing there now. You can plainly see all the way across the swamp now.
After the fire, you could find dead wildhogs or deer with their paws, etc burned off.
It's over now.
