Can you use black crayons?

The primary colors are used first, then on to the rainbow colors which the children create for themselves with the primary ones.

Steiner never mentions black crayons using or not using. Some teachers feel when they offer the black crayon the child's first action is to draw outlines with it and then color in. For this reason many teachers do not offer black crayons until 2nd grade. I have seen many teachers offer all colors in crayons in Kindergarten and every grade. It is up to the teacher and her feelings about the class and if them drawing outlines will interfere with their understanding of form.
