Am I the only one who ranks Adam and Eve far above the other excellent albums? When it came out, I felt as if they had finally reached their artistic goal - the perfect album.
And does anyone know if Tim Friese-Greene ever toured with them on keys?
Really, the two were PERFECT together. To think that TFG was instrumental in two of the greatest bands ever (CW and talk talk) blows my mind. He really knew how to bring the best out of songs.
Amazing song from a truly amazing band. Dare I say this is their hallmark tune? This is the CW song I use to introduce new fans to all that was, and is, Catherine Wheel. I can't wait to introduce this to my kids...you know, when I have kids.
I've seen a few hundred concerts and this song is one of my faves - like hyprtdream said - I still put it on mixes for people and they are always amazed
I saw Catherine Wheel perform at Edenfest in 1996. This song is one of my best memories of the 3 day event. The crowd was held silent as they extended Heal for several minutes. Everyone was mesmerized by the haunting quality of the vocals, not wanting the song to end.
I've seen dozens of bands and concerts, but this was truly one of the most memorable performances I've ever seen.
And everyone needs someone to live by Everyone needs someone to live by But it's all a lie, it's a lie to make you beg For something more for something better than you've had And I wish I knew I wish I knew how to change 'Cos everyone needs someone to live by Everyone needs someone Everyone needs someone to live by Everyone needs someone Everyone needs someone It's how high you are and the time it takes to heal
love this band...fucking love them! unfortunately, like an asshole, I came to them too late and never saw them live. thanks for this! CW please reunite!
Truly, truly awesome. One of the most underated bands. Saw them a few times, once i was headbanging at the front all the way through the gig, and the drummer gave me a drumstick at the end, happy days. {pun intended!} FCWCWF
One of my CW top five but in all my years as a fan I only got to see them play live once and found out that they did this song in the soundcheck but not in the set! Went backstage to meet them after the gig and guitarist Brian Futter kept quiet except to offer me an apple, which was a little weird as they were on the "Adam & Eve" tour. Strange man!!
Saw them on a college campus east of LA. Amazing and magical band. Caught Rob at a tiny bar in Hollywood a coupla years back... Solo material, a few CW tunes to boot (including this one, acoustic). Very nice.
I can't believe that there are 4 (four) comments on youtube about one of the greatest bands of our time! Chrome may be the most amzing & influential album of my time. I've seen Catherine wheel many times, in fact, I just realized I'm wearing a Rob Dickinson t-shirt as I type this. Ferment was a masterpiece, pure and simple.
If you haven't listened to all that is Catherine Wheel, do so, you will be glad you did.
Kick serious ass! This is perhaps their greatest song. I talked to Rob on his solo tour. I said "I saw you on the last CW tour." HE said, " We were just starting to sound good then!" This vid is from that tour.

Lovin the Floyd sounds( organ and guitar ) as the song closes to an end reminds me of Echos from Live at Pompeii

I can climb a tree and push up through the leaves 'cos
Only when I try am I happier to see
My head's in some kind of space where boyhood used to be
It's how high you are and the time it takes to heal
But it's all a lie and I've never felt so sad
There's a streak of melancholy running down my back
And there's a great mistrust that borders round the man
I call it strange from a boy who never left his head
It's how high you are and the time it takes to heal
