Its been almost 100 years since the Great War and we still haven't learned are lesson. Mankind will never change, and for this reason mankind is doomed.
"war to end wars" this is a reference to the promise of Home Rule in Ireland if Ireland sent her sons to fight for England in the trenches of Europe. Not a reference to European wars or anything.
@laserlad2008 ?? "War the end wars" is simply a reference to the idea that WWI was so shocking that there would never be another one. The song has nothing to do specifically with Ireland or Irish Home Rule.
The Christians did horrible things, The Muslims did horrible things, The Jewish people did horrible things, is this cause of their religeon? Are all people who believe in a God terrorists? No way, its not about what you think, its not about in who you believe, its about the fact that all wars started with HUMANS. The only race of animals on this world who started war and know hate are HUMANS. Are all HUMANS terrorists and killers? Maybe you should think about that...
@shonkhuulai Dear God I hope not, tho if it means someone can go home to their families more power to them. I've yet to see a pacifist actually go on the battlefield tho! i may not like war but i damn well support those who fight for the freedom and liberty of all. My grandfather (yes NOT great grandfather but fought at Vimy Ridge an i will forever be honored to repeat that as often as i can as it makes me so proud) He didn't like war but beleived in truth & love of god and country
To use a wee Scottish phrase, " We are all Jock Tamsons Bairns " which means we are all of the same cloth. We are all just humans. Any religion that thinks that they are superior are obviously inferior. Muslim fundamentalistists can put themselves in this bracket.. Im Catholic & Christian, but dont feel superior to anyone.. Peace to every one on this planet. xx
I just say one thing; It's kind of easy for a presiden't (especialy the US presidents) to send out troops to other countries and let them die and kill, but what if someone send the presiden't out to another country with a gun in him hand, how long would he last?
Sometimes there has to be war, such as happened against Hitler and the Nazis. Were other countries supposed to just stand back and let that happen, let Hitler wipe out many different groups of people, send people to the gas chambers, etc.?
War is a terrible thing, but there are things worth fighting for. Too simplistic to just be 'anti-war', IMO; even Kenny Roger's Coward of the County eventually found something worth fighting for (though in his case a girl rather than a country :))
they didnt fight for freedom or liberty . they faught to escape poverty ,some for adventure ,some faught for the king and the empire most didnt know why they were fighting . ww1 was not a war against a tyrant or a great evil it was a turf war between european empires . it was not a just war . europe will never be totally united could you trust the germans, french, british or any other country rule the smaller states fairly .
Ireland was part of the UK,when it was known as the united kingdom of great britain and the british isles, what you are calling UK now was formerly the great britain part(eng, scot&wales),Dublin was the 2nd most important city in the empire of the commonwealth administered by the UK,after London, but we Irish didnt like to play second fiddle in our own country so we in our own fantastically belligerent way
@ jimgselder.......Ireland wasnt part of the uk.... it stands for the united kingdom.... as we were never united only a small minded person would say we were from the uk........at that time if u look at old maps we were on it as part of the british isles but not the uk........so when u ask people to use the web...u should practice what u preech.......TAL......dickhead........
You know, for people that obviously have internet access, there is really no excuse for your ignorance. Ireland was still part of the UK when war was declared in 1914. And, by the way, don't you people have access to spell checkers?
Hopefully you are not sharing the opinion that Ireland is part of hte UK... And hopefully you are not sharing the opinion that the Northern Part of our Country is Part of the UK....
war can't b justified but I agrea with how we acted in all wars since 1900 remember we stood strong and defended the belguns when Germany invaded didn't need to but we did what was right same in ww2 people need 2 remember this support the millatary in every thing it is not there choice to go wereever they go but they do there duty any one who blames them should remembr what they go through to protect the fredoms of others maby just my opinion but I suport it and hope that the rest of Scotland do
The tragedy is that there are those who still believe in and worship that bloodiest and most pointless of words: 'Glory'. Justification for a dead son/brother/father/mother/daughter in enotional frustration and to call it 'glory' for an excuse for a pointless death in all that emotional frenzy. Let the bloody flags stop waving and let's just love our families and friends and fellow man - instead of keeping the flagwavers and politicians happy. God Bless - irrelevant of the name we call Him by
Its sad that some Republican Brit haters seek to deny history and pretend that this soldier (some debate as to whether made up or based on the 7 "William McBrides" who died in 1916) died for some mythical Irish republic, he volunteered for the British army (died in 1916, before conscription was introduced in Ireland), for his united Kingdom and Britain is forever in his debt. Any other opinions about it "not being his King" are those of the poster, not his.
Exactly....but that's why Bogle (the original musician who wrote the song) said "did you really believe the war would end wars"...he never says anything about conscription or any sort of levied military. Bogle's point, whether you agree with it or not, was to say that war is pointless and the only people it mostly affects is the common person. The fact that Willie McBride fought to end the war was pointless because "It all happened again, and again, and again, and again."
@blackfireeb This is mostly opinion since I didn't write it, but I believe that the line "did you really believe that this war would end wars" refers to one of the slogans created by American President Woodrow Wilson when he used propaganda to get the American people to accept his decision to join the war. He was re-elected on the premise that he kept America out of the European war. The war to end all wars was an American propaganda slogan. Don't think conscription had anything to do with it.
If he joined up for monery(as most did in 1914) then fair play to him.
If he was one of the mis-guided Irishmen who held allegiance to a foreign,out-dated and completely mad old German family (the windsors) then good enough for him as Ireland could do without him and his like.
i just got back from a school trip to the battlefeilds of ww1, we went to belgium and france. It is the most moving trip ever. Especially the menin gate ceremeny
Maybe you would find the lyrics of the Song "Es ist an der Zeit" by the german musician "Hannes Wader" interesting.. He translated this song very freely and pointed out for himself, that there must be no war again, ever.. He also descriped the horror of war very concrete..
Don't know, whether there is a direct translation to his text..
What you yanks seem to not get is that this ong is about a loyal Ulsterman who fought in the great war for Britain and many of his descendants probably died at the hands of the IRA who were primarily funded by American Dollars
This video is about Irish and English soldiers killed at the Somme most of your pictures have nothing to do with the Somme you even put in pictures of American soldiers in WW2 40 years later
your cousin gave his life for his country. he must a been a good man but he signed up for the milltary. he didnt die for nuthing he fought the people who killed innocent people.
u retard! what the heck is ur problem? ur cousins gave their lives to defend YOU and all Americans from the radical TERRORISTS that would do anything to kill YOU and the rest of the world that doesnt believe in the radical way that they do. HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN THAT they BOMBED US ON 9/11? Bush made the right decision, has anything like 9/11 happened again? NO. WISE UP YOU MISINFORMED ANARCHIST.
Well, I can see the points both you and chubzskippy are trying to make. You're both a bit off here. You are right in the fact that these brave soldiers gave thier lives for our country. Chubs is right that THIS particular war (Iraq) was a meaningless war that gave us little to no progress in counterterrorism, but rather, gave Al-Qaeda another stronghold within that country after it's former Gov't fell. 9-11 had nothing to do with Iraq, it was purely another Bushism (A Bush made mistake).
But don't you think it was weird that the proud US with their enormous numbers of aircraft carriers and their huge army couldn't do anything to stop 9/11. They had only 2 or 4 birds (fighters) near the most important cities of the US. And they hadn't even got rockets to shoot with. But there were 100's of birds floating in the pacific and atlantic. That IS a really big mistake made, that they thought they were safe from attacks
You know nothing about what happened that day. Cheney took over NORAD that day and they were running a drill that was a senario of exactly what happened on 9/11. When the jets got the call to intercept (45 mins late) they werent sure if this was part of the drill or actually happened. NORAD fucking up had never happened before until god damned Cheney took over. So maybe you should get your facts straight. Blaming "the proud US" it was a very small % fault for what happened that day.
I won't say your wrong, and you probably aren't cuz I didn't know anything about the NORAD and stuff. Still I think that you should at least always have a back-up near. You can imagine that if New York is struck hard it will affect the whole world. I'm happy that you gave me this info so I now know a bit more ;)
You are brainwashed and misinformed. I consider myself an anarchist so let me inform you. IRAQ HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11 - and when you say "they" bombed us do you mean brown ppl? or do you mean Iraqi people? Because of the Iraq war we have lost multiple freedoms that were given to us by our constitution, and you say they fight for us! FOR SHAME ON YOU YOU MISINFORMED CHILD.
well of course they didn't have anything to do with it. Afghanistan is the one to blame, but it was a great excuse to destroy the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein, I thought you anarchists hated dictatorship?
who cares about that this song was from a era gone long gone. good ridence to a bad twat. and for all you sad twats that bitch and moan about who did what now many a young man died for what he thought was right. who gives a shit what country they came from they all fucking died for what they belived
Afghanistan is a country and a country is not to blame here, a small group of extremists are to blame. I dont like being lied too especially by our government to get Americans to die for a few mens personal agendas. As an anarchist I think you should do what ever you want as long as it doesnt mess with my life or my families. By the way your generalizations of all anarchists is ignorant, there different types of anarchists.
And I don't like any type of anarchists. But those extremist you talk of all have the Afghan nationality, or from a country surrounding it. Btw, everybody lies, and the goverment lies for our own sake
So you also hate all Germans because of Hitler? Every Nazi was of German nationality.sounds foolish doesn't it? If I bomb Canada should Canada attack America killing 1000s. By your logic you think yes they should. Yeah when the government lied about the passport they found at the scene of a 9/11 hijacker that "linked" them to Iraq, was for our benefit. How about when the government practiced eugenics, sure you wouldn't mind being sterilized without your knowledge. Its for your own good, right?
Nope, by my defenition, I hate all Nazi's, and those should be, by my defenition, all German or from neighbouring countries. Being sterilized of knowledge is acceptable, if it is for the good of the whole community, of course you anarchists reason you can only be happy if you know it all, but when you get 2 thicko's who reason diffrently and can't stand eachother because of it => war, if everybody thinks the same, no reason for war! (in a farfetched, theoretical world ^^)
My question did not ask you if you liked Nazis, reading comprehension FTL.
Name a situation in which limiting knowledge to any group of citizens created some good.
Im not pushing some form of anarchist manifesto so you could cut the whole I hate anarchists thing and just answer the questions, hopefully you could try to make them complete cognitive sentences(spelling optional - "definition"). Have fun being recklessly ignorant.
It usually provides benifits for communists, like Russia and China, as long as the people are happy with what they've got, not searching for what lies beyond the horizon, the state remains happy, the Amish are another example: if you follow their rules very stricktly (it is forbidden to study the bible by yourself), you don't have need for answers and you're happy with your life, it is only when we know there might be something better that we are unhappy with our lives.
Well im done talking to you after this because you would rather live as a happy slave than live the tough life of a free man.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom we ask not your counsel or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands of those who feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you and may we forget that ye were our countrymen.
the best version ive found so far, thank you for your post, and yes i am a mcbride really, im not getting into arguements about who starts what, but just LISTEN from 2.25. they fought they was fighting to stop wars. they were so wrong. bless them .
oh and yes they were good men they fought proudly and honourly. they were told fight all threats foren nd domestic it pity ppl didnt realise it bush who was threat.
the usa kills thousends and thousends of innocent people per year. izrael stole the land from the muslims 60 years ago. do you think that's right? i as a hungarian know how it feels when someone takes the land away which was yours for a 1000 year (trianon).
i am manipulated? i think u are. the media tells u since 9 11 that muslims are terrorists and u are now telling the axact same thing. (the us government were not terrorists when they went to vietnam, afghanistan and iraq?)
youre missing the point mate, i'm not defending the actions of the USA, a lot of what they do is not right. But long before 9/11 I've known Islam is an evil religion, all through time they've been moving into other peoples countries and villages and are a peaceful people, as soon as theyre a majority they start taking over, take pakistan for example!
and as for Israel, they were in the land long before the muslims! palestinian literally means "stranger in the land"
nobody says that the war is right. but its still our brethren dieing now and until they come home the only thing we can do is give them all the support we can so that they survive just long enough to make their way home. i don't hate the gov. i honestly think democracy is at least ONE of the best forms of gov.t its the people running the gov.t i blame. and as for 911 i was 10 years old when i watch all of those people die i wouldn't be human if i didn't want revenge for at least a second
USA is the best country on the face of the earth.. They protect the small weak countries from their aggressive neighbors, They give billions of dollars every year to third world countries.. Give it a rest with the bullshit about the USA.. It is the best place one earth. Thats coming from an Irish Man!
so u think starting wars is right?? well it can be that they spend a lot of money for good reasons but they spend much more for bad reasons. but that's only my opinion.
So you think it is ok for dictator to gas hundreds of thousands of people, bury people alive in mass graves? Do you think it is ok for people to have countries commit genocides and no one should step in to help? Were you there on 09/11 when over 3000 innocent people were killed? Give it a rest already!
gotta say im with steve0325 on this, the US do some bad stuff but all this business of George Bush and Tony Blair being mass murderers is so retarded! the war was totally justified, obviously any financial gain with oil n that isnt right but that wasnt the underlying reason for the war! sadam had to go and the Iraqi's were powerless to remove him!
Well, you MAY be right there. Just one small issue. The reason we (the American people) were given for that war was purely bullshit. I won't say that Saddam didn't have to go, but over the years, the reasons for the war changed at least three times (that I counted). If Bush had simply said "Saddam was bad...now he has to go" then He'd be a hell of a lot less hated for it. One must remeber these things when talking about Supporting one's views. Just saying is all.
Very true. Saddam was evidently bad. So, when we had the opportunity to destroy him in 1991, when we won the Gulf War, why on earth did G. Bush, Sr., stop our armies on their way to Baghdad? Never understood that. Just to let the Iraqi people starve 10 more years, and resume an invasion in 2003
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27
Our generation starts to see. I don't wanna die without knowing there is finally peace on earth. Or if I do, I wanna die fighting in the last war.The war for peace. The war against zionism which is the real terror.
I'm english and I can see that Israel wants peace, try looking at the facts instead of the media and you'll see its islam that is the real terror!! any religion which endorses the destruction of a people is the real evil. "he who does not convert to Islam must die by the sword!" quotation for the koran
"he who does not convert to Islam must die by the sword!" i agree with that (well it's a fact, i some kind of have to agree). but the jews have the ame 'laws' as well. like: killing a not jew isn't a crime or a jew should NOT help a not jew if he/her is dying or you (jews) should even kill the best of the not jews.
the other thing i don't understand in your comment is that i am the one who believes the media. the media tell u since 9 11 that the muslims are terrorists. than what is america? ...
propaganda is everywhere the tv magazines music video games the bible the Koran and everywhere in between. you cant avoid it. muslims arent terrorists its the al quida that are the terrorists. and they use propaganda to the fullest extent they websites and television shows and radio programs that say nothing more than kill all of those who arent like you (a.k.a. infidels) americans i think are much less susceptible to propaganda otherwise this country would be very different. we let people exp-
-and at their own rate let let them revel in their own ideas then we listen to those ideas and find the ones we all agree on and then we use as best we can to grow as a nation a country and a people
@nayb87 You know the Bible says many things that justify killing all others except christians... and let's face it, christianity is the main ranking cause of bloodshed on this planet, Islam has a long way to go before it catches up. The Crusades saw more slaughter than world war 1, 2 and every war since!
And it's funny how people have forgotten that it was the Americans who created Israel... they carved up Palestine and stuck another country in there! Yay for them. Great peace effort.
@nayb87 Then christianity is the most evil religion in history! And how come that Israel wants peace?? They stole the land from the palestinians... and continue to steal from them... you can't get peace these way ;) However this has nothing to do with the Jewish people. Israel is designed only to serve the corporate interests.
although not directly related to this song i had a grandfather killed in the first world war and i share my second name with this fallen hero, let them never be forgot!!
This song is so sad and so beautiful. Italy joined WWI in 1915 despite the the opposition of the vast majority of the population. 600.000 boys, mostly peasants who didn't even know the exact names of the places they were fighting for, died for nothing. May their memory at least survive to remember us what war is.
The time is finally here. We are the generation! We are the future! Together you, I, every other person on this great Earth have the ability to end wars. We can put in to motion what Woodraw Wilson wanted those years ago. The War To End Wars. May God Grace us.
How can you expect wars to not occur when illegal occupation of lands still exist. Northern Ireland, Palestine, Iraq etc etc etc. While Britain and the U.S. cause terror throughout the world there will never be peace. Solution is with the World Powers, China, Russia, U.S. and Britain only they can stop wars as they are the ones that create them
thanks for posting the video war is a terrible thing have just posted a song i have wrote on YOUTUBE about my fathers exsperience during the second world war called ST EDWARDS ORPHANAGE HAD A WONDERFUL BAND (1927) my father was in the band ...the lads in the band all left st edwards orphanage at sixteen and joined the army together...my father would say that he watched most of the band die on a green field in france he would say that those lads were forgotten the second they hit the ground
i wrote the song as a way of ensuring that those lads are not forgotten...i have recieved emails from all over the world from people that attended the orphanage and have been amazed to come across the song...so maybe this xmas some people will take a quite moment and raise a glass or two to the lads...all the best ..tony flanagan
the song is called ST EDWARDS ORPHANAGE HAD A WONDERFUL BAND(1927)it is about my fathers exsperience of war and how the boys from the orphanage fell in battle...
Im only 32 but im old enough to appreciate what these guys did for us. It may only be a post on here but Thank You,and i wish you hadnt had to do it.I cant imagine.Thank You All Fellas.
My grandfather was James Mcbride and his Brother William Mcbride. This song is incredible. My uncle William would have fought at this same time, but he made it.He died a few years ago from cancer as did my Pap.May the Mcbrides always live on!
A song written by Eric Bogle - a Scottish ex-patriot now living in Australia. To hear how the song should sound, search "No Man's Land" (same song) by Bogle.
There is no reference to the man's heritage, but many Irish died in France as members of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Many Scottish men also fell. But, the man referred to in the song is likely ficticious. Given Bogle's background, I would bet on him being Scottish.
this song makes the hair on my neck stand every time. so powerful. The futility of war is the waste of generations. Bring the troops home. I'm Irish but I feel for every person of every nationality affected by war
A great tune, and a powerful video. But, the singer hasn't it right. For example it's not "flowers of the forest", it's "fluers of the forest". Get the accent right. Also, can we not find a video somewhere of the original guy (Eric, himself) performs!! No one can do it like he does.
The Dropkicks are from Boston - they're not Irish. How about paying attention to what the song is supposed to convey jackass instead of complaining about Al barr's accent?
I apologize for being picky about the accent The man sings the song with feeling. But, I know the song well, and its meaning. I am a veteran, and as a performer, I have sang the song countless times myself.
The "Flowers of the Forest" is Scottish (not Irish) pipe song often played at ceremonies of Scottist regiment members as they are lowered into the ground. I know it well from first-hand experience.
By the way - most people I know don't think I am a jackass!
This song isn't about you,or those few who think you are not a jackass. Its about men MUCH greater than you or I. So this mentions a Scottish song, does that mean none but the Scots can hear it? So a Brit looking into his past can not hear nor sing this tune? Bite me. HALLOINP: you can be from boston and be Irish.Thats what americas all about;being from someplace else.
My great grandmother lost her adopted brother that she loved in the Somme. He was 19 when he joined the British army and died. The last thing she saw of him was waving as he went off. We have pictures of his grave in France. This song makes my mother sob.
This song shows us the horrors of war. It is not a song that is antiwar. it Tells us to remember the fallen. These people are the true heros not those who live in a foolish "soldiers are Satan" world. War is for barbarous savages but that is what we are. No amount of denying the truth will change that. You who hold yourself above your fellow man because they support the wars past present and future are just adding fuel to the fire. One one type of person can change the world. we who remember.
I'm proud of you kids that join the Military and want to serve this great nation of ours. The words of this song are very, very deep! Seems to me wars have solved nothing!
Its been almost 100 years since the Great War and we still haven't learned are lesson. Mankind will never change, and for this reason mankind is doomed.

TheBaldybhoy 2 years ago
I really wasn't joking.
Any other opinions about it "not being his King" are those of the poster, not his.

flexa41 2 years ago
Conscription was never extended to Ireland. The 210,000 who fought were all volunteers.
jratt2 2 years ago 3
Exactly....but that's why Bogle (the original musician who wrote the song) said "did you really believe the war would end wars"...he never says anything about conscription or any sort of levied military. Bogle's point, whether you agree with it or not, was to say that war is pointless and the only people it mostly affects is the common person. The fact that Willie McBride fought to end the war was pointless because "It all happened again, and again, and again, and again."
blackfireeb 2 years ago 3
Yes, I know.
jratt2 2 years ago

So how does a song about a brave Ulsterman in 1916 involve the U.S.?
briankissane 2 years ago
200,000 irish men fought in the British Army.
these men formed a relationship with their Unionist comrades that could not be formed among civilians.
While there was fighting in the North these young men from both communities were dying for each other, killing for each other.
Why can't we continue this??
Why must we wait for a horrible thing such as war to unite people who live on the same small island.

u retard! what the heck is ur problem? ur cousins gave their lives to defend YOU and all Americans from the radical TERRORISTS that would do anything to kill YOU and the rest of the world that doesnt believe in the radical way that they do. HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN THAT they BOMBED US ON 9/11? Bush made the right decision, has anything like 9/11 happened again? NO. WISE UP YOU MISINFORMED ANARCHIST.
F1ipb00k 2 years ago
Well, I can see the points both you and chubzskippy are trying to make. You're both a bit off here. You are right in the fact that these brave soldiers gave thier lives for our country. Chubs is right that THIS particular war (Iraq) was a meaningless war that gave us little to no progress in counterterrorism, but rather, gave Al-Qaeda another stronghold within that country after it's former Gov't fell. 9-11 had nothing to do with Iraq, it was purely another Bushism (A Bush made mistake).
AndrewDeLong 2 years ago
But don't you think it was weird that the proud US with their enormous numbers of aircraft carriers and their huge army couldn't do anything to stop 9/11. They had only 2 or 4 birds (fighters) near the most important cities of the US. And they hadn't even got rockets to shoot with. But there were 100's of birds floating in the pacific and atlantic. That IS a really big mistake made, that they thought they were safe from attacks
Bardo100 2 years ago
You know nothing about what happened that day. Cheney took over NORAD that day and they were running a drill that was a senario of exactly what happened on 9/11. When the jets got the call to intercept (45 mins late) they werent sure if this was part of the drill or actually happened. NORAD fucking up had never happened before until god damned Cheney took over. So maybe you should get your facts straight. Blaming "the proud US" it was a very small % fault for what happened that day.
Anonadouches 2 years ago
I won't say your wrong, and you probably aren't cuz I didn't know anything about the NORAD and stuff. Still I think that you should at least always have a back-up near. You can imagine that if New York is struck hard it will affect the whole world. I'm happy that you gave me this info so I now know a bit more ;)

You are brainwashed and misinformed. I consider myself an anarchist so let me inform you. Because of the Iraq war we have lost multiple freedoms that were given to us by our constitution, and you say they fight for us! FOR SHAME ON YOU YOU MISINFORMED CHILD.
Anonadouches 2 years ago
well of course they didn't have anything to do with it. Afghanistan is the one to blame, but it was a great excuse to destroy the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein, I thought you anarchists hated dictatorship?

slayerfromabove 2 years ago
Afghanistan is a country and a country is not to blame here, a small group of extremists are to blame. I dont like being lied too especially by our government to get Americans to die for a few mens personal agendas. As an anarchist I think you should do what ever you want as long as it doesnt mess with my life or my families. By the way your generalizations of all anarchists is ignorant, there different types of anarchists.
Anonadouches 2 years ago
And I don't like any type of anarchists. But those extremist you talk of all have the Afghan nationality, or from a country surrounding it. Btw, everybody lies, and the goverment lies for our own sake
slayerfromabove 2 years ago
So you also hate all Germans because of Hitler? Every Nazi was of German nationality.sounds foolish doesn't it? If I bomb Canada should Canada attack America killing 1000s. By your logic you think yes they should. Yeah when the government lied about the passport they found at the scene of a 9/11 hijacker that "linked" them to Iraq, was for our benefit. How about when the government practiced eugenics, sure you wouldn't mind being sterilized without your knowledge. Its for your own good, right?
Anonadouches 2 years ago
Nope, by my defenition, I hate all Nazi's, and those should be, by my defenition, all German or from neighbouring countries. Being sterilized of knowledge is acceptable, if it is for the good of the whole community, of course you anarchists reason you can only be happy if you know it all, but when you get 2 thicko's who reason diffrently and can't stand eachother because of it => war, if everybody thinks the same, no reason for war! (in a farfetched, theoretical world ^^)
slayerfromabove 2 years ago
My question did not ask you if you liked Nazis, reading comprehension FTL.
Name a situation in which limiting knowledge to any group of citizens created some good.
Im not pushing some form of anarchist manifesto so you could cut the whole I hate anarchists thing and just answer the questions, hopefully you could try to make them complete cognitive sentences(spelling optional - "definition"). Have fun being recklessly ignorant.

It usually provides benifits for communists, like Russia and China, as long as the people are happy with what they've got, not searching for what lies beyond the horizon, the state remains happy, the Amish are another example: if you follow their rules very stricktly (it is forbidden to study the bible by yourself), you don't have need for answers and you're happy with your life, it is only when we know there might be something better that we are unhappy with our lives.

i am manipulated? i think u are. the media tells u since 9 11 that muslims are terrorists and u are now telling the axact same thing.

So you think it is ok for dictator to gas hundreds of thousands of people, bury people alive in mass graves? Do you think it is ok for people to have countries commit genocides and no one should step in to help? Were you there on 09/11 when over 3000 innocent people were killed? Give it a rest already!
steve0325 2 years ago
gotta say im with steve0325 on this, the US do some bad stuff but all this business of George Bush and Tony Blair being mass murderers is so retarded! the war was totally justified, obviously any financial gain with oil n that isnt right but that wasnt the underlying reason for the war! sadam had to go and the Iraqi's were powerless to remove him!
nayb87 2 years ago
Well, you MAY be right there. Just one small issue. The reason we (the American people) were given for that war was purely bullshit. I won't say that Saddam didn't have to go, but over the years, the reasons for the war changed at least three times (that I counted). If Bush had simply said "Saddam was bad...now he has to go" then He'd be a hell of a lot less hated for it. One must remeber these things when talking about Supporting one's views. Just saying is all.
AndrewDeLong 2 years ago

SgtGrem 1 year ago
@nayb87 Then christianity is the most evil religion in history! And how come that Israel wants peace?? They stole the land from the palestinians... and continue to steal from them... you can't get peace these way ;) However this has nothing to do with the Jewish people. Israel is designed only to serve the corporate interests.

Italy joined WWI in 1915 despite the the opposition of the vast majority of the population. 600.000 boys, mostly peasants who didn't even know the exact names of the places they were fighting for, died for nothing.
But, what the "H" does it matter?! People died.

How about paying attention to what the song is supposed to convey jackass instead of complaining about Al barr's accent?
halloinp 3 years ago
Sorry halloinp;
By the way - most people I know don't think I am a jackass!
lgcrooks 3 years ago 2
This song isn't about you,or those few who think you are not a jackass. Its about men MUCH greater than you or I. So this mentions a Scottish song, does that mean none but the Scots can hear it? So a Brit looking into his past can not hear nor sing this tune? Bite me. HALLOINP: you can be from boston and be Irish.Thats what americas all about;being from someplace else.

What an incredibly convoluted sentiment. To paraphrase:
"I'm proud of you kids who join the military to fight wars which solve nothing."
The idea behind this song is criminal waste and criminal stupidty, an inspiration of horror rather than pride, I think.
