I LOVE this update. The drumline makes it sound like a college band, and the orchestra keeps the theme sounding larger than life. I love the new video sequence as well, so CBS gets an A+.
In comparison, the 1987 version now sounds very weak, except for the hard-hitting drums. The iconic 5- and 10-second bumps to break from the original package should never be retired, but it might be time to rerecord the full theme.
@devswartz The one used to go into breaks is my favorite, that should be the same until the end of time. And the update has grown on me, I wasn't crazy about it at first, but now I think it's awesome. It's goes great with College Football.
This version of the theme is growing on me. It has that action movie feel to match the intro. Makes me wonder when they'll make the full version of it.
However the version played during the game is still the best.
@Junior71392 all the players are atctually rutgers players, even band people. they had us dress up as others so they wouldnt have to travel all ofver for their commercials
The theme has not been remixed, the band remix over the intro sequence is only used for the open. At the end of the sequence, the usual theme plays while Verne Lundquist talks over the shots of Florida Stadium. The usual commercial bumpers are in place as well, and CFB Today retained not only the regular theme, but also the old intro sequence.
NOBODY DOES COLLEGE FOOTBALL LIKE CBS SPORTS
A CBS/PARAMOUNT COMPANY

I hate both these teams, but damnit, that is an intro! You can't get better than the CBS theme and Verne Lundquest doing the voice-over.

U know what they need to keep it as. The same intro they did in 09 and 10. this year's intro is terrible.

@rickyphoenix Between 2004, and 2011 I think this is the best intro for a Tennessee Florida football game.

next year they should leave it just like this and not put A&M anywhere in the intro
