Even the most heinous of criminals deserve inalienable rights such as protection from cruelty and abuse. If we allow those administering justice to abuse their power in these circumstances, it will only translate into further abuses. There is a reason we need rule of law, and this is simply not acceptable behavior from an officer of that law.
