It´s not an ancient practice in Gelug school. Pabongkha introduced it last century to promote Gelug sectarianism. It´s not Tsongkhapa´s tradition. The 13th Dalai Lama was opposed to it.
Oh for goodness sakes. The Dalai Lama can remove or add practices to his school if he wants to, it is his freedom and right to do so. Followers of Shugden can have their own school. Trying to force your way back into the school is not making you look any better than the 3 murders. Your practice has not been banned. You are free to practice it, just not in his school. You're complaining about wanted posters when you killed 3 people? No wonder you got kicked out. You are far from Buddha my friend.
@HostileNegotiator - You are wrong; the HHDL cannot remove or add practices to 'his' school. Its an ancient tradition that cant just be added to or taken away. DS practioners are not wanting to force their way back into the Tibetan schools; they just want to carry on practicing the tradition that they have been taught by their Spiritual Guide, which was passed down from his Spiritual Guide and so on. Dorje Shugdan worship HAS been banned and practioners have had many priveledges taken away.

You can thank the protectors, make offerings to them, and even praise them in your other practices. This is very important. You must try to understand. The protector is never the object of devotion. The protector is the object of thanks, not devotion. I agree with the assessment that Guru devotion of a protector is incorrect view.

that's what i thought. if DS is this evil being who is so dangerous that his practice has to be banned and that the Dalai Lama has to warn everyone against him - why doesn't he just kill the Dalai Lama? And if the counter argument is that the Dalai Lama does not have the karma to be harmed because he is an enlightened Being then the Dalai Lama should destroy DS then. It's really not logical so we have to wonder why.
i have not seen DS' sectarianism... so far i have only heard how compassionate he is and that harmony is the most important quality we should strive for. He is not vengeful (otherwise wouldn't he have harmed the Dalai Lama, which the Dalai Lama said he would?) and he tells his followers not to criticise the Dalai Lama even.

from 5th to 14th Dalai Lama... why hasn't Dorje Shugden done anything to stop the incarnations or hurt him in any of the incarnations if he really was as evil as they say he is?
i like studying the examples of great masters because they really show what it means to practise sincerely, their whole lives. By their holding vows, continuous teaching, and belief in their lamas and practices, they give many others a lot of strength and inspiration to improve n become better people. That's what dharma is about I think.

if we examine what DS teaches us through his prayers etc it is always to develop compassion and wisdom. He always advises during trances via the oracle that we should never criticise the dalai lama, never judge, and just practice.
On the other hand, Dalai Lama also always advises to practise 8 verses of thought transformation and compassion.
If we just listen to and apply these teachings, we will get very far in our spirituality & attainments.... and that's the whole point isn't it? :)
it's very tiring to talk about politics but may we always put in the effort to be in the know as to be able to clear any misconceptions... It's not easy but i guess...it goes to show my lack of Bodhicitta....
@TheDharmaKnight Nothing is easy. Life is complicated. We do however have a choice to make it less difficult and simpler. This being one of the main reason ppl seek spirituality/religion. So, why do we make it complicated and more difficult? Religious practice is personal and no one should impose their personal beliefs onto others. Practice DS, or not, believe DL, or not. Choose, practice, move on. Be Happy.

The problem is when people start to make misleading comments about Dorje Shugden which will influence those who are not well informed about the controversy then they will form wrong views. I always encourage people to study the facts and then decide for themselves what they think instead of just listening to one side. I am still constantly learning - esp from sites like dorjeshugden. com which really has a lot of info.

Actually, if we all just have mutual respect for each other, whatever our practices, and study, gain our own knowledge to practice, that would create so much more peace for ourselves individually... and eventually for others around us also.

@wisdombeing good question. I'd like to know also. From what I know, kuten or oracles go thru at least 5 years of intensive purification practices. Thus, there aren't that many qualified kutens from credible monasteries like Gaden, Sera, Drepung.
@TheDharmaKnight As far as I know, there is a Kuten at Shar Gaden (there is a video on youtube - do a search?), also there is one in USA - ganden. org. He studied with Kyabje Zong Dorje Chang and numerous great masters, including Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang and Kyabje Zemey Rinpoche.
He received many lineage teachings and initiations & completed many retreats. He was awarded the Geshe (Doctorate in Buddhist philosophy) degree in 1993, one of the highest degrees in Buddhist studies.
@nostra120 oracles have to go through very extensive training and retreats to even be able to take trance. Also, they are blessed & authorised by the Lamas. So it is not something arbitrary.
Moreover, as these lamas who authorise them are highly attained themselves, they will be able to know if the being taking possession is really the deity or just a spirit.
I mean if a spirit wanted to impersonate DS they could right, because they are jealous beings right. So in this sense how is it really known its the real deal!?
@nostra120 just to add to what TheRedNiece said - how we know if it is DS speaking through the oracle and that we need to consult official oracles who have been trained and recognised. Otherwise if it's just anyone who says they are channelling DS, i'm afraid i wouldnt trust them, unless a Lama is in attendance to affirm that it is DS. Just my penny's worth.
When watching some videos i see the oracle doing what looks like tantric hand mudras, is this something specific to just Dorje Shugden or would spirits be able to do the same?
Dorje Shugden is also a very special protector as his previous incarnations were erudite, highly respected Lamas. So he is not just a Dharma protector, but a Lama also. He is one of the rare Dharma protectors who, in trance, is able to give Dharma teachings as Lama, so we receive not just protection from him, but the holy dharma teachings also. he is one with the Wisdom Buddha Manjushri, after all

Dorje Shugden protects us from becoming just so and making sure we are on the right path and practicing the Dharma. DS only cares abt Lama Tsongkhapa teachings and Dharma practice. He is the only protector that comes (in an oracle) that does tantric rituals while accepting offerings. I have seen that with my own eyes. And no other protector does that?
You know if we can begin to judge monks, sangha, high Lamas, next we'll probably judge our own Guru and see faults in our Guru. Hence doubt, skepticism, and our deluded mind will never seize degenerating up to a point we only see negative and no one can help us see otherwise.
Soon we become a being with so much wrong view that even when the Buddhas are in front of us teaching and helping us we cannot see it. No merits to receive.

@MsKushh It is not very respectful to talk like that just because you don't think he is a Buddha. But many other people rely upon Dorje Shugden as a Buddha and some of them are highly attained Lamas. There are whole monasteries of monks who worship Dorje Shugden as a Buddha. So we shouldn't be too quick to say such nasty things because we shouldn't be so sure that Dorje Shugden is not a Buddha and we don't have the wisdom to see what the Dalai Lama is doing at this point.

I just want to say if you feel a connection with DS then go all the way he won't do anything negative. As far I can see from the videos on the issue the only problems have all stemmed from people and interpretation of dharma. Sounds like the Bible, the Koran, even buddhism is not free from this
As long as human beings with all their delusions are involved, there will always be misunderstandings of the Dharma. All philosophies and religions will have huge debates on different points of view...
For DS, i simply admire how the high lamas who practise DS just keep quiet and do their practice, like HH Trijang Rinpoche and HH Gaden Trisur.
I was scared to leave NKT. I thought my merit would run out; they frightened me into thinking that leaving would be the worst possible thing ever. Of course, even if the ban existed--which anyone who's attended HHDL's teachings knows it does not--what would it matter?
The one-and-only "Shugden lama" teaches that HHDL is a "liar and a hypocrite"--then they say "don't attend HHDL's teachings," then finally they make up a story about how "Shugden practitioners are banned from HHDL's teachings."
Sounds like a story made up to keep unwitting western NKT converts from discovering the truth--that there is no ban.
DS is completely represented by WSS. No one talked about DS in the west until WSS did.

I think i read somewhere in the dorjeshugden (dot) com forums that DS will be the peace protector for all schools of buddhism hence being a buddha for peace, cause DS is a buddha also. The great Mahasiddha Gangchen Rinpoche is in this video. He is so compassionate but is on the Top 10 TGIE List! Thus, he is living outside of Tibet.
Gangchen Rinpoche is spreading Buddhism and training so many masters in DS practice all over the world and creating WORLD PEACE. This is what a Dorje Shugden practitioner is about. Creating Peace.

It is not for us to judge Buddhist organizations. We are one entity and people there have put in their sweat and blood for the Dharma. Whether or not their intentions were good or bad but the results show.
If NKT uses the Dharma to twists things for their benefit, don't u think DS would have seen that by now and have done something about it?
It should be made clear that Shugen worship itself violates religious freedom, because Shugden does not allow followers to practice other schools than the "pure Gelug school". Those who practice other schools "mix the pure doctrine" and will be killed for that "crime" by the deity Dorje Shugden, or they will at least be punished by a terrible sickness and finally die a horrible death.

What is the evidence for sectarianism... i've never heard HOW Dorje Shugden is sectarian. All i hear is how compassionate he is.. and like redniece says - he never calls for negative action or revenge to his detractors.
Dharma protectors guide us in our spiritual path and help clear any obstacles along the way. So, if your practise is Setrap and it has helped you, then fine! And if Dorje Shugden has helped you, please continue!!!! If they both have one mindstream, practising one that has helped you would also mean that practising the other is also beneficial.
We are lucky today that we have Dorje Shugden with us and protecting us. This compassionate being is a brother of Setrap Chen, whom are both protectors. In any spiritual aspects we all need a protector to protect and guide us through our lives. If DS and Setrap Chen are brothers, then why only ban DS? Arent they the same?
Why would HHDL allow so much talk against him? There must be another bigger purpose behind the call for the ban on the practice of Dorje Shugden. This ban can be reversed and when the time is right, practioners need not keep it a secret anymore.
Dorje Shugden arose from a line of highly attained Lamas of which one was Dulzin Drakpa Gyeltsen. He was considered equal to Lama Tsongkhapa but displayed a manner of a great student instead. Dorje Shugden arose principally to protect Lama Tsongkhapa's teachings.
Also look at the actual prayers and practices of DS - there is not a single negative or evil word mentioned in there. All it does is to promote Dharma, the Lamrim, compassion & wisdom. What is so evil about that?
If DS was so evil and horrible, then why doesn't he get revenge on all the people in the world now who are saying bad things against him? He hasn't harmed anyone despite all bad press.
Even when he appears through oracles, he advises us to be kind n never criticise the Dalai Lama.

Just look at all the highly esteemed Buddhist masters who were renowned DS practitioners. They all reincarnated back and their unmistaken reincarnations were even recognised or acknowledged by the dalai lama himself! If DS was so bad, why didn't they go to hell, or be reborn in a terrible place? Why were they able to come back and continue practising Dharma?
Why can´t you admit Shugden´s sectarian functions?
Shugden was said to attack and even KILL members of the Gelug tradition if they take teachings from other traditions. There are also stories of Shugden attacking people of other traditions out of purely sectarian motivation.
The problem with D.S. is that the function it is said to serve runs in opposition to the inclusive and non-sectarian aims of the Dalai Lama. So how could Shugden "save Buddhism"?
He attacks especially Nyingmapas and the hardcore DS followers even do not recognize Guru Rinpoche and don't like that H.H is also practicing some Nyingmapa tradition!! Can you imagine ?

Dorje Shugden is a Bodhisattva accepting criticisms, hate campaigns & the destruction of his practice. Why? Because it serves a bigger purpose for the overall survival of Buddhism for the future. It's easier to resurrect Dorje Shugden in the future when the smoke clears, than it would be for the Dalai lama. The Dalai lama is a man and controlled by media, opinions, ppl, circumstances. Dorje Shugden is a formless entity that can rise above all of that v quickly when the time is right.

Never once has he spoken against the Dalai Lama and in fact always advises us NEVER to criticise His Holiness but just do our practices quietly.
As we cean clearly see, the confusion arising from the practise of DS and Dalai, is not possible to untangle. All these years, the dharma has been ripening to this point, now it is finished: the only true way is that of the Panchen. Ever since the beginning of the controversy, people asked, why? Why all this? That is because the answer is now clear: Panchen Erdeni, 班禅喇嘛/班禅额尔德尼, can only show us the way forward now.

oracles etc might be a strange concept to people outside tibet, but the practice of protectors and oracles has been around since the time of India! It's not something just to do with Tibet but protectors go all the way back to the time of the great monasteries in India - such as Nalanda and Bodghaya
Intensely chilling and humbling to see the great protector visiting us in our realm via an oracle. To the people who do not understand it may look like voodoo. They can check you know the authenticity of the oracle through a record of everything that has been said by in this case DS all the way back in time to test only answers to questions DS would know. And also the accuracy of predictions made in the past by the results we can see today! Don't underestimate the protector. He is a Buddha!

It is amazing how the protector manifests himself in the body of the oracle to make his bond and that of sentient beings closer by communicating with people in such an intimate manner.
Imagine a Buddha with such prestine as Manjushri will have to 'lower' himself down to this level in order to uplift us into higher levels and eventually reach his state of Enlightenment.
I love these oracles too. It is amazing that the Tibetans are the only people who still officially recognise oracles in state matters. I don't know of any other country who still does in modern times.
I love the oracles! There is so much incredible significance in the oracles and the propitiation of Dharma protectors. If you check out the history of oracles, youll even see how strongly oracles of DS and DS himself has figured in the Dalai Lamas life. Deep and secret biographies of Tsongkhapa will also reveal this very strong and sacred connection with Dorje Shugden. It really is beautiful to see how closely the protector and Lamas work together to make the Dharma flourish.
The practice of Dorje Shugden can be traced all the way back to the great Lama Tsongkhapa and transmitted to all the great Gyelugpa teachers who have been instrumental in the spread of Buddhism. Nothing evil in that.
Well the fire pujas did not work! Those pujas "should" kill him but never did. What does that tell you? You're right there - he is alive and doing well.
Wow! After all the amazing fire pujas (jinseks) performed by some the most advanced Tantrikas are unable to touch Dorje Shugdan at all! Hmmm! I heard that these are powerful pujas that should kill him and he is only living because he must be enlightened.
All the High Lamas are wise beings. They do not just jump camp to make themselves look good. They know what is right and what is wrong. HH Garden Trisur moving with his household to the new camp cannot be a wrong move!
Gaden Tritur joins the Dorje Shugden camp is a huge slap to the Tibetan givernment, he is telling them downright to go fly a kite with their politics and he will just follow what his gurus is teaching him from many years ago. Gaden Tripa is the highest position in Gelugpa, not the Dalai Lama, so when the highest throne-holder in Gelugpa joins Dorje Shugden's camp, what does that tell you?
In a stunning turn around, Gaden Trisur Rinpoche has joined SHAR GADEN MONASTERY similar with other elite lamas such as Trijang Rinpoche and Dromo Geshe Rinpoche recently.
Gaden Trisur Rinpoche never journeyed to Gaden Shartse Monastery to swear in or take a oath that he gives up Dorje Shugden.
Only Pabonkha followers practice Dorje Shugden. Nonsectarian Gelugpas do not practice Dorje Shugden (the majority). The Gelug tradition is not all about D.S.
Phabonkha and Trijang Rinpoche are important Gelug teachers, whether you practice Shugden, or not.
perhaps this is exactly what Dalai Lama wants - by this ban, SO MANY HIGH LAMAS are making DS known by their actions. E.g. Trijang Rinpoche and Gaden Trisul's move to Shar Gaden. Perhaps the high lamas and all the enlightened beings are all in cahoots - playing good cop, bad cop so that ultimately, DS now becomes the most TALKED ABOUT PRACTICE IN THE WORLD!
Nostra - there's nothing they can do except acknowledge that more and more High Lamas are coming out and publicly showing their devotion to Dorje Shugden. These are not some anonymous monks but HH Gaden Trisur and HH Trijang Rinpoche with their ladrangs. I feel that history is unfolding before our very eyes and we had better think carefully why are these High Lamas are doing what they are doing and openly opposing TGIE.

What does this say/mean? WHY wld these high Lamas leave 2 join Shar Gaden n cont DS practise if DS was bad?

From Trijang Rinpoche, they passed to our present day Gelugpa Teachers...
When you criticise Shugden, you are inadvertently criticising your own teachers also.

Just watch, the Dalai Lama will come down harder on Dorje Shugdan practice as he ages. It will be harder and harder but once His Holiness Tenzin Gyatso ascends from his current body, Dorje Shugdan will be huge! This is all from the kindness of His Holiness. He is using unconventional means to push this practice to create a last renaissance of Buddha's teachings in this world before it dies out completely. Just watch!

I do believe that the Dalai Lama is a Buddha, therefore he would have known that Dorje Shugden was a demon or not from the very beginning.Realising it later is simply not logical. Imposing a ban on the practice of dorje shugden is equivalent to letting the lineage die. But allowing just one Lama to practice will allow the lineage to live on purely until some time in the future. Since Trijang Rinpoche has been given an exception by His Holiness to practice dorje shugden, the lineage lives on ... Now, why would His Holiness do that unlesss there is a greater goal to be accomplished?

Would this mean Avalokiteshvara "made a mistake"? Or is stupid and doesn't know what he's doing?
How can 1 continuous, enlightened mindstream make such a "mistake" & make such contrasting decisions?
Or is there something bigger he is trying to achieve from this "ban"?
Dolgyal is no samsaric being. You can find his biography all over the internet with a long and credible lineage. It is the compassion and kindness of the Buddhas to take incarnations in tulku bodies, guides us through oracleswhy are they compassionate? It's cos we cannot hear or see the Buddhas directly at this time.
The state protector Nechung is unable to help the Dalai Lama gain autonomy or freedom for Tibet.
The Tibetan Govt should invoke the Dorje Shugden protector, apologize and ask his help and seek his advice.
Dorje Shugden is a very powerful being that can be a great ally, friend and help to the Dalai Lama. Dalai Lama needs all the friends he can get both human and non-human.
Pelden Hlamo, Kalarupa, Mahakala are fierce, with bloodshot eyes, wearing bone ornaments, trampling or riding over blood, humans, gods and the like. They are near naked, dark in color and have fangs.
Many countries, religions and ignorant ppl would consider them evil or demonic in nature.
Certainly they take on that appearance. So why should we be shocked if some ppl believe Dorje Shugden to be not sacred and holy?
Just continue your practice what you feel is right for YOU.
Only the samsaric beings enter in samsaric bodies. The budas emanate bodies of his holy minds, they don`t need kutens to comunicate. It is very strange that peoples feel more importance at beings like Dolgyal that a Shakyamuni Buda. Maybe it is a signal of this degenerate era. Take refuge in samsaric beings is dangerous for us not to Dalai Lama.
Only the being of the samsara enter in the body of a samsaric person. Dorje Shugden are of the samsaric realm not like Chenrezig. Why does HH the Dalai Lama need to repeat his 'warnings' re Dorje Shugden so many times. If Dorje Shugden truly was a demon and harmful, then HH and other high lamas should just subdue him through ritual. After all Nechung is an evil spirit, subdued by Guru Rinpoche and bound to help. After being subdued, you dont hear Guru Rinpoche warning us re him anymore. So if Dorje Shugden cannot be subdued by HH or high lamas, then he must be more powerful than the Dalai Lama??Or he is enlightened.Think.

It´s not an ancient practice in Gelug school. Pabongkha introduced it last century to promote Gelug sectarianism. It´s not Tsongkhapa´s tradition. The 13th Dalai Lama was opposed to it.

Oh for goodness sakes. The Dalai Lama can remove or add practices to his school if he wants to, it is his freedom and right to do so. Followers of Shugden can have their own school. Trying to force your way back into the school is not making you look any better than the 3 murders. Your practice has not been banned. You are free to practice it, just not in his school. @HostileNegotiator - You are wrong; the HHDL cannot remove or add practices to 'his' school. Its an ancient tradition that cant just be added to or taken away. DS practioners are not wanting to force their way back into the Tibetan schools; they just want to carry on practicing the tradition that they have been taught by their Spiritual Guide, which was passed down from his Spiritual Guide and so on. Dorje Shugdan worship HAS been banned and practioners have had many priveledges taken away.

You can thank the protectors, make offerings to them, and even praise them in your other practices. This is very important. You must try to understand. The protector is never the object of devotion. that's what i thought. if DS is this evil being who is so dangerous that his practice has to be banned and that the Dalai Lama has to warn everyone against him - why doesn't he just kill the Dalai Lama? And if the counter argument is that the Dalai Lama does not have the karma to be harmed because he is an enlightened Being then the Dalai Lama should destroy DS then. It's really not logical so we have to wonder why.

i have not seen DS' sectarianism... so far i have only heard how compassionate he is and that harmony is the most important quality we should strive for. He is not vengeful (otherwise wouldn't he have harmed the Dalai Lama, which the Dalai Lama said he would?) and he tells his followers not to criticise the Dalai Lama even.

i like studying the examples of great masters because they really show what it means to practise sincerely, their whole lives. By their holding vows, continuous teaching, and belief in their lamas and practices, they give many others a lot of strength and inspiration to improve n become better people. That's what dharma is about I think.

if we examine what DS teaches us through his prayers etc it is always to develop compassion and wisdom. He always advises during trances via the oracle that we should never criticise the dalai lama, never judge, and just practice.
On the other hand, Dalai Lama also always advises to practise 8 verses of thought transformation and compassion.
If we just listen to and apply these teachings, we will get very far in our spirituality & attainments.... and that's the whole point isn't it? :)

@TheDharmaKnight Nothing is easy. Life is complicated. We do however have a choice to make it less difficult and simpler. This being one of the main reason ppl seek spirituality/religion. So, why do we make it complicated and more difficult? Religious practice is personal and no one should impose their personal beliefs onto others. Practice DS, or not, believe DL, or not. Choose, practice, move on. Be Happy.

The problem is when people start to make misleading comments about Dorje Shugden which will influence those who are not well informed about the controversy then they will form wrong views. I always encourage people to study the facts and then decide for themselves what they think instead of just listening to one side. I am still constantly learning - esp from sites like dorjeshugden. com which really has a lot of info.

Actually, if we all just have mutual respect for each other, whatever our practices, and study, gain our own knowledge to practice, that would create so much more peace for ourselves individually... and eventually for others around us also.

Pabongkha used DS to promote his own sectarian views.
We know DS´s function. DS is not about religious tolerance. It´s about Gelug supremacy. DS was the protector "for the magical suppression of the other schools".
With non-sectarianism there is no need for this kind of protector.

@wisdombeing good question. I'd like to know also. From what I know, kuten or oracles go thru at least 5 years of intensive purification practices. Thus, there aren't that many qualified kutens from credible monasteries like Gaden, Sera, Drepung.

@TheDharmaKnight As far as I know, there is a Kuten at Shar Gaden (there is a video on youtube - do a search?), also there is one in USA - ganden. org. He studied with Kyabje Zong Dorje Chang and numerous great masters, including Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang and Kyabje Zemey Rinpoche.
He received many lineage teachings and initiations & completed many retreats. He was awarded the Geshe (Doctorate in Buddhist philosophy) degree in 1993, one of the highest degrees in Buddhist studies.

@nostra120 oracles have to go through very extensive training and retreats to even be able to take trance. Also, they are blessed & authorised by the Lamas. So it is not something arbitrary.
Moreover, as these lamas who authorise them are highly attained themselves, they will be able to know if the being taking possession is really the deity or just a spirit.

@nostra120 just to add to what TheRedNiece said - how we know if it is DS speaking through the oracle and that we need to consult official oracles who have been trained and recognised. Otherwise if it's just anyone who says they are channelling DS, i'm afraid i wouldnt trust them, unless a Lama is in attendance to affirm that it is DS. Just my penny's worth.

Dorje Shugden is also a very special protector as his previous incarnations were erudite, highly respected Lamas. So he is not just a Dharma protector, but a Lama also. He is one of the rare Dharma protectors who, in trance, is able to give Dharma teachings as Lama, so we receive not just protection from him, but the holy dharma teachings also. he is one with the Wisdom Buddha Manjushri, after all

Dorje Shugden protects us from becoming just so and making sure we are on the right path and practicing the Dharma. DS only cares abt Lama Tsongkhapa teachings and Dharma practice. He is the only protector that comes (in an oracle) that does tantric rituals while accepting offerings. I have seen that with my own eyes. And no other protector does that?

You know if we can begin to judge monks, sangha, high Lamas, next we'll probably judge our own Guru and see faults in our Guru. Hence doubt, skepticism, and our deluded mind will never seize degenerating up to a point we only see negative and no one can help us see otherwise.
Soon we become a being with so much wrong view that even when the Buddhas are in front of us teaching and helping us we cannot see it. No merits to receive.

@MsKushh It is not very respectful to talk like that just because you don't think he is a Buddha. But many other people rely upon Dorje Shugden as a Buddha and some of them are highly attained Lamas. There are whole monasteries of monks who worship Dorje Shugden as a Buddha. So we shouldn't be too quick to say such nasty things because we shouldn't be so sure that Dorje Shugden is not a Buddha and we don't have the wisdom to see what the Dalai Lama is doing at this point.

You'll also find many beautiful biographies there about DS lamas and practitioners who prove what it means to do practice purely and effectively, without getting caught up in the politics. Very beautiful articles!

Of course, even if the ban existed--which anyone who's attended HHDL's teachings knows it does not--what would it matter?
The one-and-only "Shugden lama" teaches that HHDL is a "liar and a hypocrite"--then they say "don't attend HHDL's teachings," then finally they make up a story about how "Shugden practitioners are banned from HHDL's teachings."
Sounds like a story made up to keep unwitting western NKT converts from discovering the truth--that there is no ban.

I think i read somewhere in the dorjeshugden (dot) com forums that DS will be the peace protector for all schools of buddhism hence being a buddha for peace, cause DS is a buddha also. It should be made clear that Shugen worship itself violates religious freedom, because Shugden does not allow followers to practice other schools than the "pure Gelug school". Those who practice other schools "mix the pure doctrine" and will be killed for that "crime" by the deity Dorje Shugden, or they will at least be punished by a terrible sickness and finally die a horrible death.

We are lucky today that we have Dorje Shugden with us and protecting us. This compassionate being is a brother of Setrap Chen, whom are both protectors. Dorje Shugden arose from a line of highly attained Lamas of which one was Dulzin Drakpa Gyeltsen. He was considered equal to Lama Tsongkhapa but displayed a manner of a great student instead. Dorje Shugden arose principally to protect Lama Tsongkhapa's teachings.

Also look at the actual prayers and practices of DS - there is not a single negative or evil word mentioned in there. All it does is to promote Dharma, the Lamrim, compassion & wisdom. What is so evil about that?
If DS was so evil and horrible, then why doesn't he get revenge on all the people in the world now who are saying bad things against him? He hasn't harmed anyone despite all bad press.
Even when he appears through oracles, he advises us to be kind n never criticise the Dalai Lama.

Nechung and Shugden are worldly protectors.
Shugden is the Gelug protector, according to Gelug sectarians. Pabongkha used D.S. to promote his own sectarian views.
Pabongkhas Shugdenism was not derived from his lineage but by the VOICE of Shugden. It´s not Tsongkhapa´s Gelug tradition.

Just look at all the highly esteemed Buddhist masters who were renowned DS practitioners. They all reincarnated back and their unmistaken reincarnations were even recognised or acknowledged by the dalai lama himself! If DS was so bad, why didn't they go to hell, or be reborn in a terrible place? Why were they able to come back and continue practising Dharma?

Why can´t you admit Shugden´s sectarian functions?
Shugden was said to attack and even KILL members of the Gelug tradition if they take teachings from other traditions. There are also stories of Shugden attacking people of other traditions out of purely sectarian motivation.
The problem with D.S. is that the function it is said to serve runs in opposition to the inclusive and non-sectarian aims of the Dalai Lama. So how could Shugden "save Buddhism"?

Dorje Shugden is a Bodhisattva accepting criticisms, hate campaigns & the destruction of his practice. Why? Because it serves a bigger purpose for the overall survival of Buddhism for the future. It's easier to resurrect Dorje Shugden in the future when the smoke clears, than it would be for the Dalai lama. The Dalai lama is a man and controlled by media, opinions, ppl, circumstances. Never once has he spoken against the Dalai Lama and in fact always advises us NEVER to criticise His Holiness but just do our practices quietly.

All these years, the dharma has been ripening to this point, now it is finished: the only true way is that of the Panchen. Ever since the beginning of the controversy, people asked, why? oracles etc might be a strange concept to people outside tibet, but the practice of protectors and oracles has been around since the time of India! It's not something just to do with Tibet but protectors go all the way back to the time of the great monasteries in India - such as Nalanda and Bodghaya

They can check you know the authenticity of the oracle through a record of everything that has been said by in this case DS all the way back in time to test only answers to questions DS would know. It is amazing how the protector manifests himself in the body of the oracle to make his bond and that of sentient beings closer by communicating with people in such an intimate manner.
Imagine a Buddha with such prestine as Manjushri will have to 'lower' himself down to this level in order to uplift us into higher levels and eventually reach his state of Enlightenment.

I love the oracles! There is so much incredible significance in the oracles and the propitiation of Dharma protectors. If you check out the history of oracles, youll even see how strongly oracles of DS and DS himself has figured in the Dalai Lamas life. Deep and secret biographies of Tsongkhapa will also reveal this very strong and sacred connection with Dorje Shugden. It really is beautiful to see how closely the protector and Lamas work together to make the Dharma flourish.

In a stunning turn around, Gaden Trisur Rinpoche has joined SHAR GADEN MONASTERY similar with other elite lamas such as Trijang Rinpoche and Dromo Geshe Rinpoche recently.
Gaden Trisur Rinpoche never journeyed to Gaden Shartse Monastery to swear in or take a oath that he gives up Dorje Shugden.

Phabonkha and Trijang Rinpoche are important Gelug teachers, whether you practice Shugden, or not.

Gaden Trisur is a very high ranking Lama within the Gelug Heirachy is the student of previous Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang. 2 big ladrangs from Shartse has now left n joined Shar Gaden. What does this say/mean? WHY wld these high Lamas leave 2 join Shar Gaden n cont DS practise if DS was bad?
In time more n more high Lamas n monks will stand up for what they believe.

101th Gaden Tripa has just retired. HH Gaden Trisur Rinpoche (title given after retirement)and his ladrang has left Gaden Shartse Monastery and JOINED SHAR GADEN.

Don't call shugden a spirit.
The practice of Dorje Shugden was taught by Je Tsongkhapa himself in Tushita Pure Land to Tagpo Rinpoche, who transmitted these instructions to Pabongkhapa Dechen Nyingpo, who passed them on to Trijang Dorjechang Losang Yeshe -- spiritual father and son. From Trijang Rinpoche, they passed to our present day Gelugpa Teachers...
When you criticise Shugden, you are inadvertently criticising your own teachers also.

No matter how much the Tibetan govt has done rituals, ceremonies and pujas to destroy, bind, or kill Dorje Shugden they are not able to.
It is amazing how many times they have tried. They have called high lamas from all Schools of Buddhism to eradicate Dorje Shugden yet they cannot.
What does that tell you, that they don't have enough power combined together against one Dorje Shugden?
Simple. Dorje Shugden is a Buddha and cannot be destroyed.

Just watch, the Dalai Lama will come down harder on Dorje Shugdan practice as he ages. It will be harder and harder but once His Holiness Tenzin Gyatso ascends from his current body, Dorje Shugdan will be huge! This is all from the kindness of His Holiness. He is using unconventional means to push this practice to create a last renaissance of Buddha's teachings in this world before it dies out completely. Just watch!

Read Trijang Rinpoche's incredible commentary in one full volume that he wrote in the late 70's. It is all about Shugden and his lineage/practice/etc.
Go to the website dorjeshugden (dot) com and print out the commentary for free.
Incredible piece of work by the Tutor of HH the 14th Dalai Lama.
The commentary wasn't written for just high lamas, It is for everyone.
It is for everyone to practice Dorje Shugden.

incredible to see the oracle of Dorje Shugden. Interesting to read the comments of this video which I just found today. Im particularly fascinated by the point about Dalai Lama practising Dorje Shugden before and then stopping. I do believe that the Dalai Lama is a Buddha, therefore he would have known that Dorje Shugden was a demon or not from the very beginning.Realising it later is simply not logical. If its not logical then what is the purpose of the Dalai Lamas actions?There must be one.

1. If DS is a demon/ spirit then Y don't all the great masters including HH just do a puja to get rid of it? Are they powerless and DS "spirit" more powerful than all the Dharma protectors n high

Why would high lamas like Trijang Rinpoche and Pabongkha Rinpoche who
are attained beings spread and do his practices till this day? If he was really an evil spirit he would have been gotten rid off along time ago. Maybe because he is not evil after all?

Imposing a ban on the practice of dorje shugden is equivalent to letting the lineage die. But allowing just one Lama to practice will allow the lineage to live on purely until some time in the future. Since Trijang Rinpoche has been given an exception by His Holiness to practice dorje shugden, the lineage lives on ... Now, why would His Holiness do that unlesss there is a greater goal to be accomplished?

How can the Dalai Lama make a mistake?? He practiced Dorje Shugden before. Why? Because his teacher advised him to. Then he stopped and said his teacher is wrong.
If his teacher can be wrong, can the Dalai Lama be wrong also??
If you want to practice Dorje Shugden, Dalai Lama has no right to stop you.
He may express his views once or twice is ok, not again and again and again. That is too much. That is overdoing it.

We believe that the Dalai Lama is Avalokiteshvara, which is to say he is a fully enlightened being. If that is the case, then how is it that he used to do a practice (Dorje Shugden) and then "suddenly" realise that it was bad?
Would this mean Avalokiteshvara "made a mistake"? Or is stupid and doesn't know what he's doing?
How can 1 continuous, enlightened mindstream make such a "mistake" & make such contrasting decisions?
Or is there something bigger he is trying to achieve from this "ban"?

Dolgyal is no samsaric being. You can find his biography all over the internet with a long and credible lineage. It is the compassion and kindness of the Buddhas to take incarnations in tulku bodies, guides us through oracleswhy are they compassionate? It's cos we cannot hear or see the Buddhas directly at this time.

The state protector Nechung is unable to help the Dalai Lama gain autonomy or freedom for Tibet.
The Tibetan Govt should invoke the Dorje Shugden protector, apologize and ask his help and seek his advice.
Dorje Shugden is a very powerful being that can be a great ally, friend and help to the Dalai Lama. Dalai Lama needs all the friends he can get both human and non-human.

Pelden Hlamo, Kalarupa, Mahakala are fierce, with bloodshot eyes, wearing bone ornaments, trampling or riding over blood, humans, gods and the like. They are near naked, dark in color and have fangs.
Many countries, religions and ignorant ppl would consider them evil or demonic in nature.
Certainly they take on that appearance. So why should we be shocked if some ppl believe Dorje Shugden to be not sacred and holy?
Just continue your practice what you feel is right for YOU.

Only the samsaric beings enter in samsaric bodies. The budas emanate bodies of his holy minds, they don`t need kutens to comunicate. It is very strange that peoples feel more importance at beings like Dolgyal that a Shakyamuni Buda. Maybe it is a signal of this degenerate era. Take refuge in samsaric beings is dangerous for us not to Dalai Lama.

Only the being of the samsara enter in the body of a samsaric person. Dorje Shugden are of the samsaric realm not like Chenrezig. The Budas emanate bodies of his holy minds, they don`t need a kuten to comunicate. Not exist kutens for Budas. Take refuge in samsaric being is dangerous for us not to H.H. Dalai Lama.
It is very strange that people feel more importantly to beings like Dolgyal that the Buda Shakyamuni. Maybe it is a signal of this degenerate time.

Why does HH the Dalai Lama need to repeat his 'warnings' re Dorje Shugden so many times. If Dorje Shugden truly was a demon and harmful, then HH and other high lamas should just subdue him through ritual. After all Nechung is an evil spirit, subdued by Guru Rinpoche and bound to help. After being subdued, you dont hear Guru Rinpoche warning us re him anymore. So if Dorje Shugden cannot be subdued by HH or high lamas, then he must be more powerful than the Dalai Lama??Or he is enlightened.Think.
