  • I LOVE it when Xu and Ma are opponents! :D

  • 2:36 Ma Lin's block:)

  • Fuck Ma long, because I play penhold !!

  • @Poseidon99Jeus Very clever comment

  • @napleee Thank u !!

  • look like xu xin have more potential

  • Look at that - how strong he's in forehand!! Amazing.

  • This is some great ping pong

  • xu xin point stealer 8:11

  • @PerfectDiver it was his point...

  • I liked the way XX used his traditional back hand punch to good effect which seemed to surprise Ma. Brilliant TT!

  • 8:11

xu xin was like "it hit the table...."

  • best game ive seen of ping pong

  • 0:15 WTF ?

  • @N0thingIsTrue what do you mean by that i didn't see anything strange

  • The counter loop is awesome.......

  • @chaoslord17...imagine the typical backhand serve. standing straight with the ball instead of sideways like u would with a typical forehand serve...when the backhand serve is done properly it usually (if your right handed) creates and right to left break correct? well what ma long did was use the backhand posture but he used the forehand side which created the left to right break...

  • i think the reason that Xu took away the game was because he is better in dealing with pressure situations.Otherwise both of them are smart players. Xu boosted his game in the 4th set and kept stealing impossible points from Malong thereafter. this not only put Xu back in the game but also made Malong nervous, who was no more in his crazy form.ITS freaky how Xu gets even better in tough situations whereas ma kinda looses his nerves. ma would be better if he were able to become mentally stronger

  • 1.45...nice serve trick from xu xin...trying to cheat ma long...XD

  • did ma long rotate his paddle at 2:19?! that was awesome

  • How did Ma long do that serve at 5:06?!

  • 2:31 xu xins finger tricks :p

  • so mach china monsters...

  • 8:11 xu xin is wearing tenergy on his backhand :D ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • hardcore match

  • sick spin at 2:38

  • xu xin is a great player no doubt he is young and very athletic, but can he really keep up that pace till he gets to 30 i really doubt it....on the other hand ma long style is a little more technical he can be top 5 for a very long time...sorda like wang ligin.....look at whats happening to wang hao he is burned already....

  • Estos jugadores deben ser los mas rapidos sobre la Tierra, desde los rally entre Persson y Waldner que no veo jugadores tan certeros y atrevidos en su estrategia.

  • i wish the videos were more from a side angle than directly aligning the players. you can't really see the speed of the ball from this view. but from the side angle, you can see the speed of the ball much better.

  • I see the first time Ma long losing ! ! !

  • OMG at 4:36 !!

  • Comment removed

  • Every Ma long Vs Xu xin is always a great match to watch !!!

  • legendary match, but it really seemed that xu wasnt playing his a-game here. guess hes injured? anyway xu id definately the best player ... his fh is just wow and he really improved his bh. *****

  • legendary match

  • GREAT XU XIN MY IDOL !!

  • This has to be one of the best matches I've ever seen, and I've watched plenty

  • its amazing how these guys fight for every point

  • absolute pleasure to see Xu Xin play and seeing him improve his table tennis. I'd like to see where he stands in the rankings a year from now :)

  • Xu Xin is playing better and better each and everyday hope his legs can hold up for him.

  • Looks like XU has a foot problem...

    He is not running today.

  • @abit123456 Even that, he beat Ma Long !!

  • 3-3 on sets and 3-2 Ma Long is in the lead...next

Why this episode is cut out?

    sorry for my bad english

  • correct me if i was wrong

    at 2.34 - 2.35

i see ma long using Butterfly timo boll spirit

  • he has for a long time. id estimate around 2 years now

  • if i was ma long i would be really pissed off. everyone is talking about you how you're going to be the next number one blah blah blah, then you finally make it and then straight away Xu Xin, and zhang jike come along and now everyone is talking about how they're going to be the next number one!! Ma long's just made it to the top and already people have moved onto the next thing!

  • to me, this match is the best penholder vs the best shakehander today. xu xin is the best penholder to me cos he is much bigger than ma lin and wang hao, uses both rbh and traditional punch block, tricky in his game plan and has unexpected plays, he is the perfect combination of versatility and consistency plus 2 absolute advantages called height and body strength.

his trickery might not be as good as ma lin, but he earned a number of points vs ma long with that. and he can punch block too!

  • lol :D insane speed and acuracy fr!om both players... no comment

  • In my opinion, the new generation of chinese players have riched the best game level in the table tennis history; but i think that they won't be able to hold this level to much time... Wang liqin and Ma Lin have been on the top during lots of years, and the secret is to know what can you get, where is the line between what you can do and what is too much for you and your health and strengh. (Sorry for my bad english) .

  • And someone said that these guys aren't near the level of WLG or Ma Lin... well, personally, I think that Ma Long has an equally or even better forehand than WLQ (and I am a HUGE fan of WLQ since the world championship in Osaka 2001)...

  • This is amazing. I hate it that at every table tennis video on youtube that someone sais ''really the best match I've ever seen''...but this! this is at least the top 5 best matches ever played! EVER!

It seems, don't mather if xu xin plays a devastating forehand down the line or not, that Ma Long can always play counterspin, so he's always aggressive! Amazing!

  • my god we are seeing 2 usain bolts out there with their footowrk and speed!

  • An EXCELLENT match! Yeah... Xu Xin is my BOY!!!!! We used to freestyle rap together at lunch time in high school. Well, not really... but he's my favorite player to watch who's currently playing the pro tours. So that's pretty much the same thing. Btw, WLQ has really been playing the best I've seen him play in years. 8>D

  • 3:28,amazing Ace:P

Thanks for this video ttcountennce!Great quality as usual;)

  • xu xin is the beast at the moment, however wang liqin beat him 4-0..xu xin play with a lot of varieties.

  • Wang Liqin beat him 4-0. He played the best table tennis he did this year. WLQ was then disqualified, because his bat was found illegal.

Now Xu Xin beat the rest of the players in the tournament. Being a big fan of both Xu Xin and Wang Liqin, i am satisfied, but i really wanted to know how WLQ would have done after such a marvelous performance.

  • 4:44 amazing

  • Yesterday I watch ma lin's game. Although both of Xu xin and Ma lin are penholders, but their styles are totally different, both are fun to watch.

  • I don't understand ma long's tactic. xu xin serve to his FH wing and he chooses to return ball with his BH (thus leaving the whole table empty) and moreover NOT down the line but diagonally to xx's BH who is already prepared and plays devastating FH winner. And it happened at least three times throughout the match...

Nevertheless the BEST match in many many months. thanks a lot ttCountenance! looking forward to nailbiter between xu xin and ma lin in final

  • Just remember something all of you who think that Xu Xin plays at a level never reached before in that game: He lost 4 0 to Wang Liqin in the preceding match.

These two are not Wang Liqin and Ma Lin... yet?

  • but wang liqin cheat :S

  • oh really? are you aware of the fact that complete legal setup of the brand new rubbers glued on new blade using water-based glue, all approved by ITTF, can still fail the racket test? (shame on ITTF)

  • totally world class play as other commented. there are a lot of shots xu xin made that i suspect had some luck in it but they are the kind of "huh! how did u do that" shots. ma long was overall more solid than xu. but xu was just on fire this game.

  • xu xin demonstrated that he has better game plan and strategy than ma long. xu is a really smart player.

the way he changed tempo in the 3rd game worked. and ma long didn't relax despite leading 2-0 because he knows what xu xin is made of and at the end he still lost.

  • agreed. but he already locked down half of what ma long could play. he demonstrated his bh side = kill shot diagonally off wide fh side. after about 8 of those, even if ma long can hit there, psychologically he's already been affected. he won't try it and will be afraid of it.

liu guoliang once said when you're up and the opponent is agitated, pull back on your offense and force him to make errors. when he cuts back, scare him with aggression. it ruins their play and causes confusion

  • did not read what liu guoliang said about game plan before, so thanks!

but yeah, xu xin didn't look like he would make lots of errors, and ma long knows it. gotta love the aggression he showed in the 3rd game when xu pulled off a calm and collected 5-1 lead. i don't know why but xu xin does make me think he plays smart when he makes some calm blocks or sneaky counter drop shots. almost feel like ma lin's but he has a much bigger coverage of the table because of his size. a hell of a penholder.

  • Xu Xin is a young, smart, son-of-a-gun risk-taker. I notice he is willing to take great risk for a great return. However, even when he completely guesses wrong of Ma Long's shot direction, his losses are manageably small. His win-to-loss ratio is very respectable. If he wants to be a trader after he retires from TT, I'll hire him. Great athlete makes great trader!

Like all Chinese generals, Liu Guoliang is well versed in Sun Tzu's The Art of War. Xu Xin is probably applying it now. ☆

  • @smart0money dunno about you, but the Art of War is a very cool sounding book that actually has very little application. It will not beat experience and a lot of common sense. But the attitude that it Art of War conveys, of being under high stress high stakes, but keeping a cool head, is what draws in people nowadays.

And by your logic, top poker players would make great day traders. I'm sure there would be many top poker players who would appreciate a job that pays better than $10 an hour.

  • @smart0money i don't know what your circle fap with xu xin is about. he is a good player, but no smarter than any other player. just has longer arms so what he's doing is more obvious. doesn't mean he is any smarter or anything.

  • @mdiv ma long is an extremely strategic player, but his strategy is less apparent because his movements and style isn't as pronounced as xu xin's aggressive forehand no backhand style.

  • @mdiv I actually think the end result had little to do with strategy. The both practise together all the time so they know each others weaknesses any way. IMO Xu Xin just had a great day in terms of feeling. He made some really hard chop blocks and counter topspins with ridiculous percetage. Ma Long played the right shots but Xu Xin just happened to save too many points that he maybe normally wouldn't.

  • @mauno100 in spite of strategy, I think xu xin is worse than ma long in the basic techniques. His forehand does less damage and his paces is probably the slowest among the Chinese players. But he has really good feelings of the ball. Some controls and counter attacks are just perfect. Once he has enough practice he will be the No1

  • @Dlyyzz i dont agree with that, xu's cross court forehand is probably the best shot in world table tennis, no one is getting it back because he gets such a good angle at the same time while powering it as well, his forehand is incredible he can hit anything from anywhere. I still think the fact he has a weaker backhand will hold him back and he won't get number one till he sorts it out, but his forehand is the best in the world for me.

  • i haven't seen such an amazing game in a long time, those wonderful rallies are not common even amongst Chinese players

  • best game ever!

  • Such an incredible performance in power, angled shot, reflex and court coverage is only possible from no one other than the world's best shakeholder Ma Long and the world's best penholder Xu Xin. Next time when I hear people say Waldner is the best table tennis player of history, I'll find it quite funny inside me. He has already retired as a loser. Haha! ☆☆☆☆☆

  • @tyoungos He has retired, but how is it as a loser?

  • Xu xin is a rising star now, but watch out all rising stars have to fall sometime...

  • this is 9:34 of pure amazement

  • wow, this was awesome...i could watch this over and over...both players are beasts,xu xin is a new star rising

  • xu xin rocks!

  • Go Xu Xin! I think he's my new fav player now.

He had some incredible blocks and angles in this match. Whenever ma long thought xu was playing passive, xu would come back with a deadly punch or countersmash. Bravo.

  • impressive game by both,

I think this was one of ma's agressived games ever.

and that's why he lost aswell, he played to agressive and Xu played much smarter then ma.

In the rally's ma always wanted a beautiful ending and Xu always got the points.

In short plays Ma was better.

    Xu plays with tenergy nice!!!

  • dayummmmm

that was an amazing match LOL

  • The fourth game Xu is doing impossible things xD

  • how old is xu xin?

These two will be the new ma lin vs wand liqin thing, lol

  • ma long is 21 and xu xin is 20

  • @Walker0811 Ma Long is 22 and Xu Xin is 20

  • @DuchDoby Ma along wasborn at October 20 1988, therefore he is 21

  • that was amazing -

    what a great match !

  • it's a really awesome match ..... it would be so much better if u upload a higher definition version of this match .....

  • the quality is totally okay ..

  • be4 it was blurry... now is better ....

  • dammit i wanted ma long to win

  • @grimrepo941

Ma long always wins, c'mon now

  • @bartek4443 I agree!

  • i´ve been watching to 0:49 and it seems to me that ma long plays very agresive versus xu xin? i´ll watch the whole game now :D
