  • So sad...

  • I suppose they wouldn't put this ending in coz it might upset some people

  • Both are good endings.

  • This ending is no happy, somebody is getting marry jeje.

  • i think this was the best ending!!

  • everyones life is great when evans is misserable so him diening means everyone else is happy

  • This is the alternate ending? Thumbs up if you saw this ending on FIOS ON DEMAND.

  • For whatever reason the alternate ending reminds me of the 1946 film "Its A Wonderful Life" where John Stewart receives a second chance from an angel after committing suicide. However, John Stewart's life affected everyone around him positively. The Butterfly Effect expresses an opposite view where the main character's life affects everyone around him negatively. Quite honestly, I'd prefer the premise from "It's a Wonderful Life" that the life of a human being is good.

  • Its funny when the baby dies

  • best movie ever!!

  • what's the name of that song playing at the end?

  • In my opinion, the reason this ending isn't as good as the theatrical, is because, in the official ending, Oasis' Stop Crying Your Heart Out just makes the whole scene, gives me shivers everytime.

  • This ending would had pulled of some great awards!

  • this was the best ending, the most powerful for sure

  • THIS is the ORIGINAL ending, and is the best because it leaves you with thoughts about how the monther's other 3 miscarriages could have not only had their own story, but their own story with the same people that Evan had his story with. Mindfuck.

  • Only if EVERY movie with a crappy end had and alternate ending.

  • this is the alternate? this is the one i saw and told everyone about n they were like noooo your a liar you didnt see the movie

  • so his presence fucks up everyone else's life... hahah, i wish they made it this ending

  • the movie sort of didnt make sense...i mean how can anyone care more about their friends than your own mother? She kept fallling ill but he wasnt bothered...terrible movie which had what sounded like an awesoem storyline....it could have been made better.

  • @fuschiadreams I must be some monster of a person, because I lol'd.

  • I HAVE A QUESTION the mother said she lost 3 babies. so all of them born, then something happened, then went back in time and kill themself like evan did. but if evan kill himself in the womb and if the father makes another baby and survived that makes the 4th baby a mircale baby with the same genetic like his or her father.

  • @juland2005 they were miscarriages

  • @juland2005 yeah but I'm guessing with this ending and Evan dead then since Evans dad is already dead then the mother had a baby with a different father. So the next child couldnt travel back in time like the others.

  • I don't like this alternate ending at all. Even though the kids are happy, his mother wouldn't be happy. It's just...not that great. Or likely, not to mention...Kind of impossible for baby's to willingly kill themselves in the womb. Everyone seemed pretty happy in the ending that they used for the movie. While he didn't get to be with Kaylee, at least everybody was alive and had a shot of having a happy life.

  • The feeling of this ending brought me similar feelings as watching the ending of Dexter season 4

  • People who have only seen this ending need to understand that this is not the only scene that's different in the director's cut. It doesn't make as much sense if you haven't seen them so I recommend doing so.

  • This is a messed up ending. I don't like it at all.

  • Wait... The audio is in its original English, the description is in German, and the subtitles are in Chinese? Haha xD

  • the theartical one is more happier, this one makes me cry everytime,

  • I like this ending. It's really sad, and a really controversial message. I mean, it's like the anti "It's a Wonderful Life." xD; If this guy was never born, the person he cared about most would be happy. It's a pretty cold truth, but that's what I like about it. There was nothing wrong with him. He wasn't a bad person, or boring, or evil. He was just a man... but sometimes life makes a simple, good hearted man into something that can severely hurt someone. It really is sad. :(

  • This is the most hilarious, ridiculous ending ever. Wow.

  • best einding and fits

  • I love this ending even though it is very sad. The greatest sacrifice that a human being can do.. to give up your own life for the ones you love.

  • Honestly i prefer this ending

  • Comment removed

  • i think the best ending is the original (in the movie) because it gives the message that something in life is better not be happened and if they cause trouble they'd better not be happened at all.

  • You know what would have been less depressing? If a nuke went off and destroyed the world. Like really, holy piss.

  • I think it's a nice end when they turn and talk, he was able to center all life and eventually meet a girl who is the love of his life. This area is a little more theater and does not fit in the entire film. We have the original end of the sad and happy and let everyone prefers to choose. But I think it's best when they passed each other as this film makes one feel that the charm of his skin.

  • I like this ending more. After watching all the pain and suffering in the lives of Evan's friends, it's really sweet and satisfying (if not a little sad) to see how happy they all are without him. It's the perfect picture of pure sacrifice. It's sad, but it's so good.

  • This is my first time seeing this ending and I don't care for it at all. How is his father sane and shouldn't his next sibling have the same "power" he does since it's genetic?

  • Personally I think the theatrical ending was more likely because if he killed himself he would have caused so much pain for his mother. If he made himself live he would have to live the rest of his life with the torture of never being able to see the love if his life, the only girl he ever loved knowing that her life would be ruined by his prescence. In that ending everyone is happy and Evan suffers torture as opposed to not feeling anything at all

  • @coolmanjack1995

    Well said!!

  • @coolmanjack1995 The reason I like this one is that it fits with the rest of the movie. Her miscarriages, the fortune teller. Plus I like an ending that shows that sometimes it takes sacrifice to keep what you love safe. T_T but it always makes me cry sooo hard thinking about it...

  • Personally I think this ending is the best. It's the saddest, but the other endings are too cheesy and too Hollywood sweet for my taste

  • @KikiAC exactly

  • Pregnant 3 times? so Evan's story happen to 3 other babies...

  • i think he should of met her when they were young and then tryed and get her when she was older :)

  • 3 stillborns? Did they all inherit the same thing that their father did? They should have did a series of this movie making the 2nd about his father. &MAYBE making one about one of one of the "stillborn's" stories. That would've been good.

  • @barbie4549 Yeah, that would be a good idea.. This ending could imply that the soul born in Kutcher's character resulted in a similar havoc on earth as the other three stillborns. Perhaps the reason they, too, were stillborn was because they also had to make the decision to kill themselves for the better good of humanity. It would have been interesting to discover that some major world catastrophe was avoided because one of them had killed himself, in exchange for a mother's continued grief.

  • @barbie4549 I think so.

  • Anybody else get a "Final Destination" vibe here? I mean with the whole you can't change your future/fate thing mixed with the fact that his other brothers and sisters probably did the exact same thing he did here?

  • he dont think about his self, because without him everyone else around is more happier

  • This ending is interesting but I prefer the other one where Evan goes back in time to make sure he never becomes friends with Kayleigh. I just thought that this ending kind of didn't work for my taste. Either ending Evan still saved the day.

  • I black out......please dont let me see my own comments or i will fuck up the world again....JUSTIN BIEBER STILL ALIVE!!!.....NO MORE COMMENTS ON HIM!!

  • This alternative ending stunk too!

The movie had a chance to be a decent movie, but none of the endings made any sense, they simply destroyed what could have been a decent movie, but instead was nothing more then a waste of time!

  • @1LonePuma What do you should have been the ending?

  • @SMP0328: It should have ended with a conclusion that stayed in sync with the story, but instead, when out of bounds.

  • @1LonePuma In your ending, what would have Evan done?

  • @SMP0328: At this point, it's all academic. However, it might have had a conclusion, as you see, they themselves had to endings showing their uncertainty, which proves my point. Even so, neither offered an ending worthy of the over all story. Unfortunately, the movie was a bust, as far as I'm concerned.

Here's one to watch, "Fall of The Republic" which is real and horrifying!

    Best regards.

  • Very sad movie, but it's Great!

  • 3 stillbirths? Man, were I a woman and had that happen to me... I dunno how I would cope with that.

  • I'm sorry if I sound so ignorant but I didn't quite understood the ending... The mom has a daughter and she grows in a happy life instead of evan or what?

  • I'm sorry if I sound so ignorant but I didn't quite understood the ending... The mom has a daughter and she grows in a happy life instead of evan or what?

  • This Ending was awesome and mindblowing! The original was rather boring I think ;)

  • It is the best ending there could be....who gives a fuck how "depressing" it is... the majority of people would not know what the Hell macabre or depressing really are or could ever mean.....

I know I would sacrifice every bit of myself for the Girl I love in any instant... to make her life better..to alter everything that has happened to her and changed her....

    Love this movie.<3

  • other ending is for sure my favourite. where he gives up kayleigh? perfect. and then they see each other on the street randomly one day and recognise each other.. it gives me chills. that way i think he made the biggest sacrifice and showed how selfless he was.

  • that is fucking macabre

  • here she says she was pregnant 3 times before giving birth to him, but earlier in the movie she says she was pregnant 2 times only

  • @baconfromhell666 He was the 3rd

  • @WakiiiS yeah, but she says "before you were born, I was pregnant 3 times, but they were all stillborns"

so that would make him the 4th. they made a mistake

  • @baconfromhell666 She is talking to the daughter she had. The daughter is the miracle baby, Evan is the 3rd.

  • @lizzyhayes2011 I wonder if the other stillborns were actually like Evan, and realised the same thing he did. It would certainly add some weight to it, especially since the first child she had with Evan's dad ended up with the same ability the father had.

It would definitely make the movie a lot deeper and heavier.

  • @TimedRevolver

It's implied, at least according to wiki, that they did as well and did the exact same thing Evan did,

  • my favorite ending. i cried.

  • I don't understand... The umbilical cord makes no difference because he can't breathe no matter what.

  • @Drof1107 the umbilical cord it’s like a exposed vein if you estrange it fluids cant flow and kill the baby this is a reason you have a cesarean

  • @Drof1107 No blood goes anymore to the brain I think.

  • this is the best ending in my opinion, because it has more emotion to it.

  • This ending is the best because it isn't the same old bullshit hollywood crap.

  • this ending just cant be for a simple reason:

Medically speaking it's not possible dieing by suffocation IN the uterus before birth, since lungs dont work yet and we just get oxygenated blood from the placenta to the umbilical cord etc... We could only die that way just AFTER birth if we dont get rid of the umbilical cord around the neck, right after the first crying, meaning we just started to use the lungs to breath...

    That's it :)

  • @Garblod You dumbass, umbilical chords can and DO kill unborn babies. I was a SURVIVOR of this, my mother had an emergency C SECTION, and it cut my ear in the process. The top of my left ear is missing. I also shit into my mother's womb which almost killed her....

All in all, it was a horrendous birth, but here I am today, telling you how it is.

  • @staphinfection you should ask to doctors how u came to this world, cause u aint know shit about it, I'm a med student and I know how it works, you CAN'T die that way, that just happens once you're out of mummy's pussy. Go open some books... Whatever happened to you, Im sorry, but dont trust what mum says if she doesnt know either...

  • I thought this was the real ending

  • This is perhaps the best ending to this movie.

  • this ending is so wrong.. he would have traumatized his mother forever

  • @boitahaki Remember, this had happened twice before, her miscarrying. She would have been griefstricken but would have tried again. He last name is Treborn (Three born): The two previous times something similar happened, as the time travel was genetic.

Even though this ending upset me the most, it made the most sense. He knew he wasn't supposed to have lived, he was supposed to have been a miscarry like the other two times.

  • @Paliasterminus isn't the time travel power obtained from his father?

  • well... he did write down that if anybody finds the letter that he wrote then it would already mean he is dead... so yeah this one is more fitting...

  • this film makes me traumatizing than ever

  • this is the worst ending its too depressing

  • i like this ending because it make sense. evan's dad said "it" was supposed to end with him meaning that he was the only one that could go back in time. so Evan should't have been born in the first place.

  • i don't like this ending. the other ending is better.

  • I would rather spend 1 minute with the girl I love, then being immortal and never even meet her.

  • @afexine

Sounds great, but after that minute ended, you will feel the pain the rest of your live

  • Comment removed

  • @mcrubar True, but in this case, who says your life will continue...

  • @afexine i would no, i would spend my life playing video games

  • @texaskinder It proves that you are not mature enough to have this discussion with me :)

  • @afexine I'd rather live forever. The odds of running into another person you like are rather good if you have that much time, and for me, life is everything.

  • Well, i like both endings..

  • @VarunDroid actually there were like 3 or 4 endings

  • This is the best and most heartfelt ending.

Just watched the film on bluray and it didn't have this ending I saw on DVD 7 years ago.

Oh and ashton kutcher didn't sacrifice anything, the character he played did. Thus is still Kutchers best role.

  • I've just noticed that during Tommys speech, he says "Happiness can only be achieved through sacrifice." In all the alternate endings, this is the one thing that sticks out. The sacrafices Ashton Kutcher makes (the one love of his life, his friends, even his life in one ending) just to make others happy. Beautiful.

  • Whether if his baby-body had control over itself at that stage or no is completely irrelevant. Older-evan's mind replaced that of his unborn-self. Not combined or anything fancy. It's exactly the same transfer as it was the first time in the movie, only more extreme. Oh, and I hate this ending anyways. xD why do i care?

  • For everyone who doesn't understand that Evan is in complete awareness of what he's doing in the womb, he is. Earlier in the movie, he went back to his childhood age with the knowledge, and therefore awareness of his present-day mind. He went back into the womb as older Evan's mind in baby-Evan's body, no different than how he went from older Evan's mind to young-Evan's body. When he changed his future, he knew what he was doing all those times, so he obviously knew he was choking himself.

  • das beste ende, hätten die stattdessen nehmen sollen =)

  • wats d song that plays at the end?

  • @blackpanther5 Yeah its a fantastic song isn it i dont really care what ending they use so long as that song stays where it is. By far the best oasis song imo.

  • I like both endings, this ending is beautiful. Sacrificing yourself for another person is one of the most heroic actions a person can take.

  • Before my mom had me, she was pregnant two times, they were also still births. Then I came. Maybe I'm a miracle baby too.

  • Comment removed

  • This ending sucks. I know it's opinion, but what the hell? How could anyone say this ending is better just because he kills himself?

  • what the fuck?! This ending scene makes me crying like a baby... shit

  • Exactly the ending i remember, it's the best ending...

  • fuck this !!!!but i still love this shit!!!

  • i really dont like this ending!!

  • My problem with this ending is that Evan could not know how his stillbirth would affect his mother. The ending shows her later having a daughter and being happy, but Evan could not know that would be the outcome. For all he knows, his mother would commit suicide after his stillbirth. The theatrical ending makes more sense. He doesn't hurt anyone, everyone's life is better, he still had to make a sacrifice (never being with Kayleigh) and all without traumatizing his mother.

  • @SMP0328 This ending is definitely more suitable to the movie compared to the happy ending. The reason why he kills himself in the womb is because he believes he will NEVER be able to create a happy ending unless he was never born!

This is emphaised when, after several attempts, he thinks he has finally created this "happy ending". However, terrible things happen again and he begins to realise his dad was right, he is a curse that cannot put things right unless he was never thr to begin with!

  • @marnie011 I don't consider the theatrical ending to be a happy ending. The happy ending is the one in which Evan and Kayleigh are speaking to one another at the end. The theatrical ending has Evan seeing Kayleigh, but he keeps walking, because he knows she is better off without him. The theatrical ending shows Evan realizing he can have a normal life without a happy ending to his story with Kayleigh. The director's cut ending has Evan decide that it was all or nothing: happy ending or death.

  • @SMP0328 why wouldnt all this happen with the girl aswell...then all he did was give up and let some one else take over all the crazyness! and so on an so one..it would have to end with him..no more childs after..or it will keep going..same thing if he has a kid of his own..right???

  • @sickboyy2012 I believe the movie implied that the father was who passed the time travel ability on to Evan, not Evan's mother. In this ending Evan's mother has a daughter by another man, so that girl would not be able to time travel.

  • @SMP0328 ohh ya..good point..i didnt even think of that...LOL so i guys it woulda ended with him then!! but ur point is better...bout not knowing the outcome of his mothers life

  • @SMP0328 maybe he didn't think that far. he was panicing and was having an anxiety attack. it's only realistic. he got lucky.

  • @ToddOwns96 Remember that when his mother visited he asked her if she had brought the video. He had enough time to plan out what he needed to do.

  • @SMP0328

Where do you see the mother having a daughter? It's a serious question.

At 3:04 is the woman that opened the mailbox and before that we see Kayleigh with her mom.

  • @MrHEPennyPacker That woman is definitely Evan's mother. The point was to show that even she would ultimately be better off if he had not been born.

  • @SMP0328 His mom never had a daughter....

  • @flower69456 In the montage following Evan's in-utero suicide, his mother is shown later having had a daughter (not with Evan's father).

  • Comment removed

  • @SMP0328 Indeed the best and only possible everything. And I'm also very sorry that for the "happy ending" scenes they could not include the scene with the fortune-teller who tells Evan that he has no lifeline, no soul and that he shouldn't have been born.

  • @SMP0328 it's meant to show what happened after he killed himself and why it was the best choice to make, because all he could do is fuck things up lol.

  • @SMP0328 The reason why he did it, Evan was not meant to be alive, or "no soul". He had concluded that his existence was the root of all the wrong in the alternative life's, no matter what he had done all the time it screwed up. Just like his father had said he was meant to be dead. He had no idea of his mother having another child and being happy but chances were high for it, most likely she would of been depressed for the still births and left the father who also had the same problem.

  • @SMP0328 true. the director's cut made evan out to be a total coward in the end. the theatrical would make life better for him and others.

  • @SMP0328

The endings sortof show the different ways he could have fixed the problem, this was more drastic and desperate. In all honesty, it is not perfect but considering the situation he was in, there was no other choice. His books had been taken away and he couldn't just decide to go wherever he wanted again. He reached for something and he got the video -- that's the butterfly effect in action. He got one thing, which made something happen.

  • @SMP0328 nope, he didn't know that his mother would commit suicide.. this is the most emotional and great ending....

  • @alejandrothefader Evan's mother never committed suicide.

  • @SMP0328 exactly what im saying! :o

  • buaaaaah manly tears

  • This ending is the best in my opinion - only recently saw the other ending and it's also good but not as moving as this one :O

  • this ending is too sad, i think the original one is perfect...and it is enough sad too

  • cheesy

  • reminds me of teardrops by massive attack

  • wow to od such things......woo D;

  • J. Mackye Gruber?

    MacGruber?!?!?!?

  • Who knows if the failborns didn't killed themself like evan for to save their friends?

  • poor mother ;(

  • best ending for the story line

  • thumbs up if you cry every time you see this ending

  • not again?

  • I like the original ending best. This one's just too depressing...

  • I don't like this ending .. I like the other more ..

  • worst ending in my opinion... first one really stuck with me and made me feel something for the characters

  • This ending is so much better than the other one -3

  • Emotionally, this ending works. Other than that, not a fucking chance, lol. I mean, c'mon, a BABY choking himself to death in the womb, LOL. You just can't ignore something like that. The whole time travel concept I can suspend my sense of disbelief for.. I mean, that's something you already understand coming into the movie.

  • @dallasbagley Um dude, it was him, as a baby choking himself with the imbilical cord, it happens all the time.

  • @Carnageloser7 Maybe on accident, it's not like they make the conscious decision to do so tho...

  • @dallasbagley Well yes, but thats where the "The baby is Evan" comes in

  • @Carnageloser7 The ending is corny, no matter how you slice it. Don't you wonder why it didn't make the final cut? So stop trying to defend it.

  • @dallasbagley Notice how in the comments below people are saying things like, "i like this ending better." and, "I like the original the best." and then take notice that there are multiple endings. This is because the director wanted to make everyone happy. Two endings are sad, two are happy. Some leave it open, some really do not. That is why it did not make the final cut. There are multiple endings, just because they pick one of them to use doesnt mean the others are bad, they simply didnt use

  • Hey I'm just asking here.. Does a baby in that stage have a conscious ?

  • I actually really like this ending, It's the ultimate heroic sacrifice, and it's pretty ballsy instead of the whole, stay alive and slightly ignore someone ending.

this movie totally negates the it's a wonderful life, everyone does awesome things mentality in favor of something a bit more realistic, but life it what you make of it.

  • bull shit!! wat da fuck!!!

  • i hate these "american-endings"...

in my opignion the film should have been cut at the point where he is mentally ill, and all the stuff happend because he was denying the fact, he killed the girl in his mind...

anyway except of the last 3 minutes of the original film, that movie is awesome!

  • i was looking where did you find it and where in the dvd was that i know in the end but which verson

  • ..this ending made me fucking cry

  • this ending is very sad :(

  • I hate it when babies die =(

  • This end explain why the mother miscarries two times. I would have love to see the story of the father who got the same gift.

    Like father, like son.

La fin explique pourquoi la mère a eu 2 fausses couches. J'aurais aimé voir l'histoire du père qui avait le même don.

    Tel père tel fils.

  • I definitely liked the look back + walk away ending the most. Movie overall is amazing no matter what ending though.

  • umm im mega confused i kno how he dies and all but i rented this movie and this is exactly how it ends. did they actually make a movie with this ending u kno they made dvd's of it or is my dvd rental shop retarted i dunno plz some1 xplain

  • @peterjack81 There is a theatrical cut and a director's cut of the film, you saw the directors cut

  • this is psycho shit

    <
