My two favorite versions of this songs are Ian & Sylvia and Dave Alvin (off his Public Domain CD). The other version of this song (that I have heard) sound too upbeat and fast-paced. Both the Ian & Sylvia and Dave Alvin versions capture the fright, desperation and sorrow of the lyrics.

Have to admit I have not heard that much of his music, but unlike Barbara he is good, but does not leave others in dust IMO LOL Thank you Marcus!!!!!
