  • My two favorite versions of this songs are Ian & Sylvia and Dave Alvin (off his Public Domain CD). The other version of this song (that I have heard) sound too upbeat and fast-paced. Both the Ian & Sylvia and Dave Alvin versions capture the fright, desperation and sorrow of the lyrics.

  • @concord1995 I think there are certain songs that are just not any good if the beat is too upbeat.

  • Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed the simplicity and beauty of the singing, traditional Folk meets Western, IMO. Before I looked him up, I was sure he had Celtic Roots somewhere. Have a good day, off to Montreux Jazz Festival - YIPPEE!!

  • @Katietoo Sounds as if you are gonna have a good day. Stay out of trouble. LOL!!

  • Have to admit I have not heard that much of his music, but unlike Barbara he is good, but does not leave others in dust IMO LOL Thank you Marcus!!!!!

  • @jtls8 LOL!!! Thank you James. We all have our preferences.

  • Hi,wonderful song, and top marks to the songwriter for writing such a touching song about American History, I have seen this battle on The American History series, and in many films

Ian Tyson sung this awesome song with a true tone of lament in his voice.

    Thanks for sharing..

  • @BABSINUK Thanks for all your support and have a good Sunday.
