No one will ever match the Voice, charm & stage presence of this unique and wonderful talented artist. Before Frank there was nothing! After Frank there is still nothing! Thank goodness for these recordings, hands down, Sinatra is the very best entertainer in the Universe period!!!
Inolvidable.!! era una de las favoritas de mi padre, ademas de My way, escuchar a Sinatra es sentirlo al lado mio disfrutando de esa voz incomparable!!!We miss you Frank!!!
interesting how frank sinatra almost had a close instint to (rap talk) not really but sort of kind of it back in these times.. he just had that smart words out of his mouth. just almost a rap sort of way. These will know what i mean :)
I absolutely agree with you. This song is Franks. --- By the end when the band is gearing up, Im just about jumping outta my seat. Gotta give credit to Riddle for sure!
This really is the best version of "I've Got You Under My Skin". Not only was Frank Sinatra on incredible form for this incredible session where it all came together, but the whole performance was given added kick by augmenting the number of double basses thanks to orchestral arranger Nelson Riddle. Whether recorded 'in concert' or in the studio, Frank's collaboration with Riddle on this Cole Porter classic is considered definitive, with this version powering through to claim first place.
@BigHosMan I was thinking that this morning flipping through the videos on here. The older he got the better the music became, his voice overall changed the most, the rhythms and patterns in his tempo and timing.
The opening right before this song where Frank comes out of the limo gangster like then breaks into this is so spectacular ...someone needs to post the whole thing ...
Just imagine how much respect he must have had to be given this set-up, the set and the full orchestra, back when that sort of thing was unheard of, especially for singers of "standards." Just amazing, and thank goodness the man's work at his peak was preserved like that.
I love the story behind this, this was just the rehearsal and when finished the director asked when they were going to complete the final...Frank replied "baby we just did it" and walked out the door...
I do not know of any examples where he sang "gahchew" but I am always willing learn. Can you point to one specifically? I could imagine there might be one where he did it deliberately, as a rebuke to those who sing it that way.
As for the comment from someone else about "grammar and English lessons from Jersey," that happens to be where Mr. Sinatra is from. He's the one doing the schooling. Oh, and it's not grammar or English. It's called elocution.
@jasong145 "Three piece suit"? Not to nit-pick, and certainly not to condescend, but that's a sport jacket, trousers and a waistcoat (or "vest", depending on your geography). A three piece suit must, by definition have all three pieces match. I know.......who cares?! I'm just a stickler for precision.
I don't understand how we can listen to the same track and hear two different things. He sings "got you" at the following time marks:
6 to 7 - with an actual pause between between those seconds to emphasize they are two clearly stated words. He continues on with them distinctly stated as "got you) at 13, 26, 53, 1:32 and 2;21.
I am curious. Does anyone else hear "gahchew" at any of those marks?
@jerseyjoe4good Lol, Frank was great for diction during songs...but he sings gahchew many times on this song, and has in other versions too, including off the bat and at the end.
@jerseyjoe4good Sure they should learn from the master, but it is sometimes usual to sing "I've gahchew". Sinatra sang it so a lot times, if you are a real Sinatra lover and recordings collector, you will know what I mean.
To be fair, Sinatra himself "gahchews" quite a bit on the recording. It still sounds great. Frank was all about playing with the flow of words, with different timing and emphases. "Gahchew" is just one example of this.
I love this song... I have this show on VHS!!!! Frank Sinatra is a natural. He knows how to sing & entertain!!! We miss you...The Chairman of the Board!!!

Wannabe singers, take a lesson from The Master.
The opening (and closing) line is sung, "I've got you under my skin," not "I've gahchew."
