at 1:17 you can see the red car has no wheelie bar on it, he should be ashamed of him self for being a dick head, i wouldnt have asked you for anything, as long as every one was ok, thats all i would worry about.
I thought I would post what was found to be the cause of the wreck. The left front lower control arm broke when the front wheels came down after the launch. I had no control over the steering as you can see the parachute turnbuckle weaving as the car has a mind of its own as to where its going. Next post
The data recorder showed I hit the wall at 154 MPH and it drove the engine forward pulling full throttle and I was then on a ride past the finish line where I hit the wall a second time after glancing off the rear quarter panel of the charger.I am still on my road to recovery and still bracket race a little on a smaller scale.
A huge thanks to Phil&Jill Painter and all the staff at Vegas for all their help and support.I hope to see you all one day again in my travels and express my appreciation in person.
Ummmmmmmm...dude, the CAR is a Dodge Daytona, not the TRACK! I'm full well aware that the track is The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. We're there every year in March for the annual Mopars At The Strip event.
OH wow!! I was at that race but i didnt see the crash. I was pitted next to this car and knew it had crashed. I was with some friends(Bill and Dani Wade) with a TA dragster. Im also a personl friend of Dean Stevens.
Sorry to hear you were injured BUT evry time we strap in we assume all resposibilty period .once the gate closes it up to you and the gods to bring it home safe if the guy wants to be a dick oh well .ive been their done that .
This was a very devistating crash and has left me with some permanent disabilities and I found the driver of the Red Cornet to be very unprofessional and further more very offensive. Thank You John Genovese
John, thanks for filling in some of the blanks. The whole thing is just a bad deal all the way around. It's a major bummer but that's racin'. Sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you.
He also told me I didn,t know how to drive or handle"horsepower". He said I simply lost control and hit the wall and stayed in it and hit him going backwards. The video does,t lie. My lower right control arm broke causing the car to turn hard left into the wall causing the engine to shift forward pulling the throttle wide open. This explains the top end crash and the dent in the quarter pannel.continue
Yup, it sure did. It clipped the lower rear of the left hand quarter panel of the red Coronet and took out the Coronet's wheelie bars. The driver of the Coronet kept the car straight and was able to continue racing that weekend. On the 2006 Mopars At The Strip/Las Vegas Part 2 Drag Racing video, I believe I have a shot of the quarter panel of the Coronet when he pulled into the lanes later in the weekend. Damage was minor but it still had to be scary for a moment or two.
I am John Genovese the driver of the Daytona. Two days after the crash the driver of the Charger aproached me at LVMS and informed me that I owed him a paintjob and a new set of wheelie bars. If you notice the Cornet leaves the start line without any wheelie bars. Continue on next post

you were way out of the grove.
That guys car had no wheelie bars on it. and if he's so worried about his car he should just run solo.
Chance we all take going down the track that our car or the car in the next lane could wreck
Glad to hear your alive was a nasty wreck
