@simpleirfan19 it could be your cpu, also how much ram you got? most games will stutter if you have less than 2gig, but id probably put it down to the cpu..... i wouldn't try to run games in DX11 with that card unless your running really low res or your running crossfire.
I'm quite disappointed too. It has microstutters as if it's loading something but I have 4gb ddr3 RAM on a windows 7 64 bit OS. It even freezes for a moment on the videos. This is a shitty port.

Most people who say it doesn't lag, are just not experienced enoughto even tell. It is IMPOSSIBLE the game doesn't lag. There is ALWAYS a frame lag, especially when the game calculates hits etc.

@MeHHay010 your another idiot... as i said in a previous post, this shit was happening on super high end i7's and GTX 580's...... also, before they released 5 patches, the game would run sluggish... when patches were applied, it worked fine and didnt drop from 92fps.... explain to me how that makes my pc the culprit? rofl.
I partly fixed it for the most part by turning shadows off and setting 2x AA and 2 bars in the AA. A friend of mine has an ATI card and hes been playing since the beginning telling that there were more release problems so its not that bad now.
Try it , it worked a lot for me.... rest is just on extra... just the AA
i know about gaming and performance and these settings shouldnt matter in the first place but somehow they fixed it for me. Poor engine....
I found that if I turned the shadows, AA and AF off then it got rid of the lock up's. But it still only goes up to 55fps and I have the res on 1440x900 which is low. Some people run it fine and some people don't. It's not a matter of who has a shit PC and who doesn't.
@Nintendoguy5794 it stopped locking up when you turned shadows off because the idiots at treyarch didnt change the way shadows were coded on consoles, they are rendered by the cpu, and not the gpu, thats the problem........ iv fully patched the game now and it runs at an "acceptable" level, but im still not happy.... all this fucking around and the game aint even worth playing in the 1st place.... epic fail.

I don't get it, i own an old E8400 / GTS 250 system and i get 65-70fps at places you get 26-27. Maybe it's because i'm still using winXP or the latest game patch was really awesome ><

its not our computers fault(unless you really do have a poor build..) but this game is poorly optimized >.<.... at first i couldnt play this at all, but after changing some values in the config, i was able to at max settings(max resolution also) with no lag... and my comp isnt even that great( duo core 2.9, geforce gtx260, 6g ram )

If you're having stuttering issues, disable all your sound devices, run the game perfectly. Worked for me. It's not a perfect fix (having no sound...) but it's playable.

@unrealriot im not sure either rofl, the only games i have trouble maxing on 1080p is crysis and just cause 2, both are really heavy games graphically.... on crysis i get around 15-20fps maxed on 1080p, just cause i get around 40-45 ( i normally dont play games unless solid 60fps) but even with black ops fully patched, i still can barely get a solid 40fps which is ridiculous considering all the cod games use the same engine and i max every other game at 90fps+ on 1080 lol.
@djravageuk Well, I pirated this game, but I only play the single player. I get like around 85 fps, but I haven't play the multiplayer yet. The reason I pirate is Activision (Kotick) doesn't care about fixing graphic issues for PC. All he cares about is money.

How did Infinity Ward mess up? They took stick, admittedly some form me, about the lack of servers and only 6/9 a side. And over time I have come to realise what a masterstroke it was. I have made so many great fraggin biddies through the lobby system.
The fact is IW made a game where being hosted on the local Starbucks' WiFi on some shitty laptop is a better experience than playing on a BO dedi server.

This is so horrible man, i just finis game on High settings, with shadows off, and AA2x on 1280/1024 resolution with proximately 45 Frames, with no lag or stuttering at all and my PC is way behind yours, its minimum off minimum but game runs just fine. I mean i did`t hope I will run it at all so this 45 Frames for me is awesome. This is my system
And a quick fix is just start black ops... tab out... start task manager..... right click on the process.... set its prio to high! And that should fix the fps lag for you. Plus the games only been recored to use about 1gb of ram aswell and some processors are having conflicts with graphics cards, and Treyarch are fixing this.
Decided to install the GTS250, started up the game and the problems came back. I even swapped the cards around making the GTS250 as primary and 480 as second gpu and same stuttering problems again. So thru this observation can I confirm atleast with my system that running multiple gpus caused my system to render unfavorable gaming experience even after the patch installed thru Steam. I’m no expert but I hope this helps with anyone else to troubleshoot with their systems with multi-gpus.
So, just a few minutes ago I decided to remove my GTX 480 for power saving reasons and moved up the GTS250 as the primary video adapter. Fired up COD Black Ops(exact same ingame graphical settings) and played on the same server and to my surprise I was having no stuttering/lag effect issues. At first I was afraid there maybe something wrong with the gtx480 so I installed it(did not install the GTS250 as 2nd gpu) and even that everything was fine.
I’ve tried setting my primary(GTX480) to handle Physx(in the nvidia control panel and had GTS250 neutral) AND reverting back to the 2nd gpu(GTS250) as physx and still no luck.
Before and after the patch I was still experiencing what seemed to be mix of lag and stuttering performance problems. I’ve tried the a variety of supposed tweaks from .cfg edits of multi-thread, multi-gpu etc…but none have made a difference.
i feel you bro. getting shit performance after paying $60 for it is totally unacceptable. i REALLY want to know if ANYONE at Treyarch even tested the PC version; how could they have not known about this before release?? The first patch that came out improved performance, but only a little bit. hoping the second patch COMPLETELY fixes it.

The funny thing is that he have a q9400 clocked to 3,7,GTX 460 1 GB GDDR5 OC 4 GB DDR3 RAM Win7 Ultimate x64 and is running the game in 1280*xxx resolution and everything low/off except for AA and he has shitty perfomance(worse than me on a laptop).
I run the game at resolution 1280x1024(max monitor on desktop) with AAx4 everything on and maxed and the game runs fine and i dont have some high end pc - phenom II x3 720 (no OC),HD 4830 512(no OC),4 GB DDR2 1066 CL5, Windows Vista hp x64. ROTFL!!

Try this - in your Activision\Call of Duty - Black Ops folder - go into the players folder - open up config.cfg with notepad.
Edit - find - seta r_multiGpu “1” - and change the 1 to 0 if you only have a single video card. Then Edit - find - seta r_multithreaded_device “0” and change the number to 1 if your CPU has more than 1 core.
Save the file and restart the game and see if it's running smoother. It helped here.
@10Blue01 Yep, I found that works better. But if you overclock to 1 AM then you get like a 24 fps boost. But make sure you don't overclock past daylight savings time.

I actually believe that to save time/money they just ported the xbox version without any proper development on pc.
I also think that the performance issues in this game WILL NOT ever be fixed completely, certainally not to the degree of smoothness that you get in CoD4, WaW, MW2 etc...
After all the slating Infinity Ward took for it, it looks like MW2 is stil the best game ever made.

I found that if I turned the shadows, AA and AF off then it got rid of the lock up's. But it still only goes up to 55fps and I have the res on 1440x900 which is low. Some people run it fine and some people don't. It's not a matter of who has a shit PC and who doesn't.

@Nintendoguy5794 it stopped locking up when you turned shadows off because the idiots at treyarch didnt change the way shadows were coded on consoles, they are rendered by the cpu, and not the gpu, thats the problem........ iv fully patched the game now and it runs at an "acceptable" level, but im still not happy.... all this fucking around and the game aint even worth playing in the 1st place.... epic fail.

its not our computers fault(unless you really do have a poor build..) but this game is poorly optimized >.<.... at first i couldnt play this at all, but after changing some values in the config, i was able to at max settings(max resolution also) with no lag... and my comp isnt even that great( duo core 2.9, geforce gtx260, 6g ram )

If you're having stuttering issues, disable all your sound devices, run the game perfectly. Worked for me. It's not a perfect fix (having no sound...) but it's playable.

@unrealriot im not sure either rofl, the only games i have trouble maxing on 1080p is crysis and just cause 2, both are really heavy games graphically.... on crysis i get around 15-20fps maxed on 1080p, just cause i get around 40-45 ( i normally dont play games unless solid 60fps) but even with black ops fully patched, i still can barely get a solid 40fps which is ridiculous considering all the cod games use the same engine and i max every other game at 90fps+ on 1080 lol.

Does anyone else notice that when you turn off the sfx the stuttering stops? I noticed the stuttering was when there was a lot of shots going on and the characters are talking. Ive got a stupidly powerful pc with a soundblaster x-fi fatal1ty, theres no excuse for this.

I know I have AMD Athlon 64 X2 @ 2.1GHz, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 w/ hypermemory. I set the graphics as low as fuck, I mean I set the details low, I set the resolution to 800 x 600 and guess what? I still have fucking lag. Its not my internet, its not my pc, it has enough power to run sims 3 with default settings. Totally different but anyway. I can watch HD video w/ no lag but can't play this w/ shitty graphics? Back to school you fucking Treyarch coders!!!

How did Infinity Ward mess up? They took stick, admittedly some form me, about the lack of servers and only 6/9 a side. And over time I have come to realise what a masterstroke it was. I have made so many great fraggin biddies through the lobby system.
The fact is IW made a game where being hosted on the local Starbucks' WiFi on some shitty laptop is a better experience than playing on a BO dedi server.

Don't worry infinity ward says they might release Modern Warfare 3 next year. Both companies are trying to release a call of duty franchised game every year. Last 2 years was world at war, last year was modern warfare, this year is black ops.I assume it follows a pattern. So anyway about the video. I can't believe your performance if exactly the same (plus a bit of framerate hiccups) as my Radeon HD 4670 512Mb and 2 Corsait Gaming Memory ram! My settings are the as yours.

Treyarch needs to refund everyone who bought this broken piece of crap. They knew of the issue well beforehand and still chose to release it. Not only is that immoral, I dare say it should be illegal. Every other industry is subject to quality control laws, so why not the game industry?

This is so horrible man, i just finis game on High settings, with shadows off, and AA2x on 1280/1024 resolution with proximately 45 Frames, with no lag or stuttering at all and my PC is way behind yours, its minimum off minimum but game runs just fine. I mean i did`t hope I will run it at all so this 45 Frames for me is awesome. This is my system
- Intel Dual Core e5200 Overclocked to 3,2 GHz,
-2 GB of RAM 667 OCZ 6400, and prehistoric
-ATI X1950 GT DDR3 512 MB video card.

And a quick fix is just start black ops... tab out... start task manager..... right click on the process.... set its prio to high! And that should fix the fps lag for you. Plus the games only been recored to use about 1gb of ram aswell and some processors are having conflicts with graphics cards, and Treyarch are fixing this.

Decided to install the GTS250, started up the game and the problems came back. I even swapped the cards around making the GTS250 as primary and 480 as second gpu and same stuttering problems again. So thru this observation can I confirm atleast with my system that running multiple gpus caused my system to render unfavorable gaming experience even after the patch installed thru Steam. I’m no expert but I hope this helps with anyone else to troubleshoot with their systems with multi-gpus.

So, just a few minutes ago I decided to remove my GTX 480 for power saving reasons and moved up the GTS250 as the primary video adapter. Fired up COD Black Ops(exact same ingame graphical settings) and played on the same server and to my surprise I was having no stuttering/lag effect issues. At first I was afraid there maybe something wrong with the gtx480 so I installed it(did not install the GTS250 as 2nd gpu) and even that everything was fine.

Before and after the patch I was still experiencing what seemed to be mix of lag and stuttering performance problems. I’ve tried the a variety of supposed tweaks from .cfg edits of multi-thread, multi-gpu etc…but none have made a difference.

The funny thing is that he have a q9400 clocked to 3,7,GTX 460 1 GB GDDR5 OC 4 GB DDR3 RAM Win7 Ultimate x64 and is running the game in 1280*xxx resolution and everything low/off except for AA and he has shitty perfomance(worse than me on a laptop).
I run the game at resolution 1280x1024(max monitor on desktop) with AAx4 everything on and maxed and the game runs fine and i dont have some high end pc - phenom II x3 720 (no OC),HD 4830 512(no OC),4 GB DDR2 1066 CL5, Windows Vista hp x64. ROTFL!!

Try this - in your Activision\Call of Duty - Black Ops folder - go into the players folder - open up config.cfg with notepad.
Edit - find - seta r_multiGpu “1” - and change the 1 to 0 if you only have a single video card. Then Edit - find - seta r_multithreaded_device “0” and change the number to 1 if your CPU has more than 1 core.
Save the file and restart the game and see if it's running smoother. It helped here.

Buddy, I completely agree with everything you have said and have shown.
I actually believe that to save time/money they just ported the xbox version without any proper development on pc.
I also think that the performance issues in this game WILL NOT ever be fixed completely, certainally not to the degree of smoothness that you get in CoD4, WaW, MW2 etc...
After all the slating Infinity Ward took for it, it looks like MW2 is stil the best game ever made.

No way whatsoever should my rig, which runs MW2 100+ fps in high settings in single player, struggle with any CoD engine game in the next 5 years, never mind this one.
I'm baffled how Treyarch could fk up a perfectly good engine so magnificently...

CPU isnt causing the problem... its GPU usage thats causing CPU 100% of the strain because its having to process everything that the GPU should be processing, aswell as all the Calculating...... as soon as i get this patch installed, if its not worked properly then il never play another Call Of Duty again, EVER.

I mean, I've played games much better looking than this on my now low end gaming PC (E4500, 8800GT, 4 gb of RAM) with smooth framerates on medium settings, World at War ran well, why do I stutter so bad when I put this game on 640x480 and the lowest settings?

@Magnuz0 ok 1st of all, its the EXACT engine used in the previous Call of Duty games and requires the same CPU to run pretty much.
and 2nd, the game has been coded and optimized for consoles.... are you telling me that the CPU of both a PS3 and a Xbox360 have more powerful CPU's than my highly overclocked QUAD CORE? you dont know shit dude, anyone with even quarter of a brain will tell you this game hasnt been coded properly for PC, and THAT is the reason why its so CPU heavy on PC.
