  • ohhh soooo feel you too i know you done this vid a while back & i HOPE you found something that helps because i've been going through this ALL my life w/ eczema ughhh it sucks but it's life too...great vid =)

  • hi there i have psoriasis in the scalp could you let me know what you have done about your scalp I have been going natural for about eight months and the flakes are out of control.

  • @msvangie81 Honestly the only thing that has worked consistently for me is Sulfur 8. Allows me to go 7-14 days without having to shampoo my scalp...but I try to shampoo every 5-7 days depending on my hairstyle. Hope this helps ;)

  • I was just diagnosed by a dermatologist with psoriasis of the scalp, it is very bothersome and irritating. My scalp is usually very crusty, dry and itchy. I'm so desperate for natural ways to treat my symptoms, as I've learned there is no cure for psoriasis. I want to thank you for sharing this video, I had no clue so many african american women were dealing with this.

  • @PoeticFiyah Yes, I have come across so many black women who deal with this since making this video. I too am still in search of a natural treatment. Many people have suggested things to me but not everything has worked :( I'm glad my video was of some help. I'll be posting an update to this video soon.

  • Scalp psoriasis and seborrhea dermatitides of the scalp can be difficult to tell apart. Both are skin diseases thats can affect the scalp. They share similar symptoms such as itchy, red, scaly skin. Usually, the scales of psoriasis are thicker and drier in appearance than the scales of seborrhea dermatitis. if you have scalp psoriasis, maybe mildly on your elbows, knees, hands or feet or may notice subtle nail changes. The American Institute of Advanced Medicine has your solution.

  • The BEST treatment available are immune suppressant ointment Protopic and Elidel cream. Either will clear up almost anything. Downside: They're both VERY expensive without health insurance [$200. + per 30gr / 1oz tube] and many insurance plans either won't cover the cost or only as a last resort treatment. I had SD bad on my forehead [ front hairline] and face, was prescribed Protopic ointment, after 40hrs it COMPLETELY cleared up. I didn't have another flareup for 5 years!

  • I have the same thing. I'm 31 and this just started. My hairline gets these scales that look grey in color, it itches, sometimes it feels likes something is crawling in it. By scratching it and touching my face, I started breaking out really bad! I went to the Dr. and they said it was seborrhea capitis, and gave me some type of oily medicine for it but, it does not work. So I was recommended KitiKitit. Kitikiti it is designed for minor scalp irritations and fungus. Great reviews!

  • @Paqueshia DO YOU KNOW A GOOD SITE THAT SALES kitikiti scalp and skin treatment THANK YOU

  • I feel your pain with eczema, i HAD it on the back of my neck, legs arms and the creases of my mouth...

  • Wow its nice to find someone who's going through the same thing as me. I have sd too. It's something I felt no one could relate to me. The itchy scalp, sometimes feeling some things are crawling in your head. I can never wear a sew in, or do styles that a lot of women can. the large yellowish flakes. my dr prescribed me fluocinonide but not working too well. I am having bad flare ups now. Thanks for sharing your story.

  • @1ChynaPink Thanks for checking out my vid and for sharing your experience too. I totally understand the feelings you're having on your scalp and not being able to wear certain hairstyles. Many people don't understand what we go through on a daily basis just to find some relief from the irritation. I haven't heard of fluocinonide...I hope you are able to find something that works for you. I'll be doing an update on my sd in a month or two if you wanted know how I'm dealing with it.

  • I was diagnosed with scalp psoriasis. My flare ups have calmed down due to me transitioning to natural hair. I will assume that the relaxer did more damage than good to my scalp. But it's getting better. Also I was told to oil my scalp instead of greasing it.

  • hi please show love and support to the channel, i see we both have eczema. please leave feedback:) your doing greatt

  • have eczema and understand i usually have flare up when the weather changes or when i change a products my doctor recommended using dove and i did for sometime im 12 so it wasnt be long anyways i started using there go fresh nectarine and white ginger and made my skin crazy armpits started flaking and getting super itchy and discolored and we went to the doc and ended up going back to using olay which i started using when dove became pricey and now i use the the dollar general version of olay

  • my son has eczema, me and my fiance have been trying so many products to help but it seem like nuthing work, but we will never stop trying.

  • have you tried using henna on your hair as a conditioner? I have eczema on my scalp, face and arms too and I'm currently using shea butter and coconut oil mixed as a moisturizer and i am also natural but it's hard because sometimes my scalp will break out if its too oily so I'm in the same boat with u. I've been researching the net for yrs and I've come across so many things i.e that myrrh oil is good for the scalp if u have eczema but I'm not sure if anyone has used it.

  • @knewborn70 I have tried henna and it works great! It only last for a few days though. I also use shea and coconut oil on my skin as a moisturizer. I hadn't heard of using myrrh oil...I will have to look into it. Thanks!

  • Hi I barely found out I have seborrhea dermitits and I am so scared to death because I don't want that thing to spread all over my body. I only have it on my hair scalp. It's sometimes very itchy so I just take showers since I don't wanna get steroids treatments. Do you know how I can naturally controll it? I am sorry for asking so many questions. I feel terrible. I am so depressed right now.

  • @000hopefull aww I don't want you to feel depressed. I know it is very frustrating having sd and there is no known cure for it. I suggest using pure natural oils (tea tree, neem, nettle, burdock root, rosemary, lemon, peppermint, etc.) to control the itching/irritation and cleansing your scalp often. Hope that helps.

  • i had some hair loss in the front and for me it was spreading in the front of my hair line....the dermatologist said it might have been worsen by stress i know i have eczema but only on my face now....it was allover my body when i was younger... i currently have my scalp under control but i usually wash it once a month with medicated shampoo and every two weeks with calrifying shampoo along with my reg medicine

  • Im a 21 year old Danish guy.

And you know my skin doctor says i have psoriasis, and my father who is also a doctor says i have seborrheic dermatitis.

Im very confused becausse seborrheic dermatitis is supposed to give you hairlooss and i got that.

But im also inflamed under the nails, on my chest and on my back witch is very common for psoriasis.

So now the skin doctor is sending me to a klinik where they are going to look at it under a microscop its the only way to be comepletely shure.

  • More severe cases of SD give you hair loss. I have not experienced that side of it. Psoriasis from what I know effects not only the skin but the joints as well. Visiting a dermatologist should definitely help you figure out what you have. They can also give you proper treatment options.

  • Virgin coconut oil its the world most powerful wonder food!! It will control your skin disorder better then ne over the counter drug!!

  • Virgin coconut oil is the best remedy! Ive used everything and this works the best by far! Plus its natural!!

  • you really shouldnt do the selsun blue or head and shoulders all that sodium lereth sulfate can and will actually make it worse I'm speaking from experience

  • I agree with you...they are very drying and I have actually stopped using them.

  • Very great video girl you are so pretty but beyond that, I suffer from Eczema in my skin and hair and reading the posts, I see all the stuff I've tried. Tgel, sulfur8 , Tea tree oil shampoom Head & shoulders, but NIZORAL has worked best for me

    Good luck!

  • Thanks for commenting. I think nizoral worked well for me as well but it dried my hair out so bad. I hope to find some natural ways of dealing with my scalp issue cause those other shampoos only offer temporary relief.

  • havve u tried chagrinvalleysoaps shampoo bars? they have worked great for me I'm natural too. You should check them out rosemary mint and herb garden work well for these conditions I've tried them both

  • I haven't tried their bars but I have heard of them. Do you struggle with seborrhea as well? When I purchase something I want to make sure it really works for the actual condition. Thanks for the suggestions. I will look into these :)

  • yes I have been diagnosed with seborhic dermatitis and eczema skin and scalp. Before their shampoo my scalp was white very often and red from the seborhea and eczema irriation. My redness is now gone after just three uses of the rosemary and then herb garden has already helped some hair that I loss as a result of the dermatitis start to grow back. I understand u want to be sure it will work. If u do decide to check them out I'd be willing to get samples for u. I know how hard it is

  • You are too kind :) I will check out their website today and probably make a purchase since you gave such a great testimonial. I don't find too many people up here who have seborrhea and eczema so I'm glad you took the time to comment.

  • your too cute and too adorable. I think alot of black people have it and just call it danfruff

wee call everything danfruff many black people don't have alot of studies done for blacks especially in terms of skin studies. my scalp is of and on and I can not use any scented shampoos. J crew lime conditioner and shampoo then sebrezze that is good I find. Many shampoos kill my scalp. I just use dax to grease. I do not braid my hair. braiding always breaks me out. but I twist. swist don't strain

  • Thanks for you comment. I agree with you that there aren't many studies regarding the black community and our skin.

  • when you do go buy the selsun blue get the medicated kind and just work it in real good. Scratch your scalp lightly do that for about 3-5 min. If you don't get the medicated sulfur 8 try that instead of the original sulfur 8.

  • my daughter has seborrhea in her head and I use selsun blue on her hair every two weeks for the huge flakes in the middle of her head. she really has it bad. Selsun blue does a wonderful job it even makes her hair grow b/c of the flakes are not there. Try it and you will love it .FYI a little expensive compare to other shampoos. Way better then head and shoulder.

  • Thanks for commenting! So many people have suggested the selsun blue. I will definitely be trying it out after I finish off my head & shoulders (I bought a BIG bottle). I have found that the off brands are cheaper in price than the real thing and they have the same ingredients :) Do you let the shampoo sit on the scalp for a period of time or do you just apply and rinse?

  • I also have Psoriasis. I've had it since i was 7 years old. Its hard to deal with sometimes. i have it all over my scalp and it recently spread to my face and my ears. but my pastor Gordon Richardson prayed over me and it went away on my face,

i still have it on my scalp though

    i take NIZROL,,

    it works soooooooooooooooooooo goood!!

the best thing i ever tried. its perscription.

    -sasha

  • I've had eczema for years and years

  • I just recently started using organic apple cider vinegar to help with the flakes and itching and it seems to be working, I can't say the Psoriasis is completely gone because I have only been using the vinegar for about 2 weeks. But, I do see a very big difference. Saturate ur scalp with the vinegar & water, place a plastic cap on ur head for 1 hr. You will see a differnce, so you may like to try this & GOOD LUCK.

  • This may not solve ur problem, but it did seem to reduce the itching and the flaking. I found that by leaving T-gel shampoo on for at least 1/2 an hour to 1 hr will help with the flaking, also make sure to condition your hair after every shampoo to due the dryness you will experience.

  • i am only fifteen and i am having problems with giant flakes coming off my scalp. I'm pretty sure its seborrhea and am using a lot of different shampoos to get rid of it but it keeps coming back and i get eczema on my forehead. what can i do?

  • I found that using head & shoulders shampoo has eliminated the flaking and itching. I say use it daily until the flakes and itching subside then reduce usage to 1x per week. For eczema, unrefined shea butter has worked wonders on my face. So I say give those things a try. Also if youre able, make an appointment with a dermatologist. They can definitely help you figure out options that suit you best. Thanks for the question!

  • I have used everything from head and shoulders to t/sal and nothing seems to work so i think i will have to see a dermatologist.

  • hey buddy, what i use is dermarest psoriasis gel! its for your face and all but i put some on my hair line and with in 2 days its solves my problems! in a week you will see no trace of it! I also use head and shoulders shampoo!

I find that people like us dont need to oil on our scalps or to use heavy products, We just need hair creams and hair lotions! Use Cantu shea leave in and it is the best thing i ever found! also we gotta wash like 2 or more times a week or our scalp gets uncomfortable!

  • I totally agree with you! My scalp produces enough oil on its own that it doesn't need anything extra. All that extra stuff just irritates it further. Where do you purchase the gel you mentioned?

  • You can purchase it at any CVS pharmacy or Walgreens! and yeah, all the extra stuff will just irritate if you have our condition! i find that the key to helping the problem is Zinc, which head and shoulders has a formula with zinc added and so does the gel psoriasis lotion i was talking about! all i do is wash and condition, then wait until it drys, then i put cantu leave in conditioner on my hair and im good until the next wash! cantu made my hair so strong...and doesnt irritate my scalp!

  • mine is so severe at the moment and i dont feel like laughing or talking, id rather cry or watch other ppl talking about it, , by the way im 18 and i never had eczema before, its been 2 years i had it, , ,

  • I believe i have seborrhea ..who should i go to? a dermatologist or an allergist immunologist??

    thanx

  • I would suggest a dermatologist.

  • Your hair looks great. Mines does not. :-) Anyway, how do you keep from itching away patches out of your hair. That's a problem for me.

  • Girl I scratch like there is no tomorrow!!! LOL! I can't help it after a while. But sometimes I will use an oil or sulfur 8 on my scalp to lessen the itching. Oils don't tend to do the trick though and actually worsen my problem, but sulfur 8 keeps the itching at bay for a few days.

  • I am sooo glad to see others talk about it!!! I don't know if I have eczema but I definitely can only wear styles for a week or less bc I have to wash these huge flakes out! I do have psoriasis around my scalp(diagnosed by a dermatologist) so I just figured that was what was going on with my scalp. I look forward to hearing what your remedy is!

  • I don't find too many ladies who have these skin disorders but its always comforting to hear someone else say they struggles with this too. I found the head and shoulders to really work! But I will also try Neutrogena T/Gel (which I hear is stronger).

  • Do some research on essential oils lavender oil, tea tree oil, and shea butter.

  • I have...I'm a researcher by nature. I do plan to use tea tree oil in the future. Shea butter, for me right now is not an option for my scalp because it worsens the situation. But I do use it on my hair ends.

  • Iv just had tests as my hair is coming out and my scalp is realy dry and itchy so thanks for this video.

  • Youre very welcome!

  • Your hair looks really nice in this video. Thanks for sharing.

  • Yes girl, I have seborreheic dermatitis. I HAte it!!! I can't keep styles in my hair either. I have some microtwist's and every time my scalp is exposed i.e. with parts or sections, my scalp itches so bad. I will have to do a video explaining my situation to you. We have SOO Much in common! I am so excited to know that someone else may be experiencing some of the same things as me. Finally a naturall sister going through it too! Sigh of relief! Even though I wish we didn't have it

  • don't worrry I have it too!!Its freakin annoying and itchy!!!! ugh...
