Globalization is the process by which Capitalist markets expand in order to exploit cheap labour and resources. The cultural implications are the spread of Corporate modes of productions and consumption through industrial forms of "development" and advertising. Globalization is nothing more or less than what colonialism was: The search for profit at any cost....
Um...this video could only have been done by a person who had been deprived of the chances of interacting with people from other cultures, or of visiting foreign lands. So, it is sort of an advertisement of how ignorant and provincial americans are. Please, er, widen your horizons. See the world. Stop being such a hometown nitwit.
if this indeed was a school project, i hope that you guys go to an all white school in montana besause i hope all the hispanic, asian, african, and irish kids beat the shit out of you for that strereotypilcal crap...
That's easy to fix a world full of Vegans, bicycle riders and makers of your own clothes and furniture, kids could even create their own toys again, destroy all tel-lie-visons!
Globalization would feel a good swift kick in the rear?
Great job! only one criticism, you represented all the other countries with people, why not Afrika, surely a picture of an African was avail on google?
Actually, Mayan pyramids are in southern Mexico, and thw Wal-Mart is close to the Aztec ruins of Tenochtitlan, in South-Central Mexico, not where you pointed it...
You have a very interesting idea here, nice vid btw
Globalization is NOTHING for the western world. Most people here in the US dont even know where other countries are. You have to know about the world to be allowed to live all over it.
actually, the frightening thing is...you DON'T have to know anything about the world to live all over it or to hold great sway over it's activities. people like you need to do more than appear frusterated on a youtube comment page to counter those ignorant individuals who would ruin opportunities for others around the world.
It is really unfortunate that whoever compiled what would have been a beautiful documentary on globalization spoilt it with a tint of ignorance by representing Africa with a rhino...honestly that is the height of ignorance and craze illiteracy in this age and time of super development!
If you're frustrated with ignorant Americans, at least concentrate your energy on those in public office so that you can assist the reasonable population of our country in replacing them with informed and talented leaders - don't make my little sister feel bad about her movie because it's the easiest option.
@eisnertoes Ignorant Americans, Okay FUCK YOU ALL We Help All countries that Need it, And if they React Badly towards us for helping them, That means you are the Ignorant Little Bastards that have No lives and no Clue how to run your countries, It is Your Fault, Not America's. You have no Clue what America Has Done for the World, Including Stopping World War II. Also if it wasn't for us, YOU ALL WOULD NOT HAVE INTERNET OR COMPUTERS OR ANY TECHNOLOGY. So Stop....
A project that my little sister made in her free time that she researched on her own is hardly a topic for your self-righteous target practice. I'll have you know that a very large portion of Americans are engaged and well-informed about their world, but the deeds and words of the ignorant ones are more profitable to the news networks and other outlets of information.
Of course the American education system is challenged with keeping young students informed about trends in our world that diminish the economies of nations in the global south and profit economically and politically from civil and governmental changes. Our government has a lot of work to do regarding the openness of its foreign policy and the presence of incompetent foreign relations officials.
wow...guys, this is a project i helped with for my 15-year-old sister's history class...of course it's one-sided and the facts aren't double-checked. what's your occupation, i'm curious? you're criticizing (or criticising) the work of a child who put her video on youtube so that her friends would be able to giggle at it. This project wasn't meant to be a comprehensive, entirely factual 5-minute look at globaliz/sation in its many forms.
unlike many people i have been to south asia and most people who work in these factories are proud of thier work and it sucks that so many people degrade them for it. Whne working conditions get bad or contentment fails, they will discover the glories of unionization like we did. everyone take a chill pill... globalisation is for the most part voluntary.
Globalisation is good. it will reduce war, cultural violence, help bring an end to organized religion and has vitamin C. Who cares if a few bklokes get richer than the rest of us. if i were a south asian i would rather make shoes for nike (and be proud) for $5 a day then pick up garbage for recycling at $1.50 a day.
This predictably focuses on the spread of large retailers through-out the world (and does so with bias) and finishes with an uninformed look at the spread of the English language. Mandarin Chinese is in fact the most spoken language by a long way.
This also ignores the central ideas of economic globalisation - global financial industries, worldwide flows of capital and labour, world organisations (e.g. WTO, IMF and World Bank) and the technological changes that have allowed this to happen.
this is not meant to be entirely serious, obviously. we don't assume that very old stereotypical irish greetings are actually commonplace in modern ireland. it's also a bit odd that you would accost our group for making a stereotypical comment and then call the poster "another dumb american."
Think you guys miss the point of globalisation (not a spelling error in 49 of the 50 countries that speak english) Globalisation increases trade and specialisation, resulting in the concentration of primary industries in poor countries.
Man, I LOVE this video, it's a completely accurate representation of our globalized world.

I'm Irish and I'm in China right now.
1) I dont mind the stereotype of being portrayed as a leprechaun but maybe work on your accent
2) The small town indicated on your map in China is not outside Beijing. In fact it looks like Xian.
I'm not going to be a killjoy but this video is borderline racist. Maybe globalization should make you more aware of other culture's sensitivities.

For example Nike shoes are produced in poor countries while managed and marketed in the US. This benefits the rich countries while hurting the poor.
