i am 60 years old and still love sherbet well ahead of their time with arrangements and production thanks mainly to the musical ability of the group especially darryl and garth
I remember as a young girl seeing Sherbet at the Hoadleys' Battle of the Bands at Festival Hall in Melbourne. They were the days. I fell madly in love with Daryl Brathwaite. I was so infatuated with him. He use to put the microphone stand between his legs and lean on it. He was so sexy in the mind of a young girl who was yet to have her first sexual experience.
@pungooer he was pretty sexy in thind of a young gay guy yet to have his first sexual experience too, let me tell you. wasn't this song so great when we all first heard it! i was a sherbet fan right throughout. a few years ago someone was going to distribute their videos on dvd. i wonder if that ever eventuated. i would buy it in an instant.
@wonderboyjoy Yes he was magic and they were wonderful days for us as young people. Sometimes I just want to step back for a while and experience some of those times again. Do you? He would have been very appealing to you for sure and I appreciate how you were feeling. It was a great song like you say and still is. I dont know if anyone did release their songs on dvd but if I hear about it I will let you know. I am guessing you are an aussie like me.
@pungooer thanks you for your reply. i did some looking and there was a dvd of sherbets clips released in 2006. how did i miss that one????? it has a blue cover. it is listed on SANITY website but says it is out of stock. today i will be trawling video shops in perth to try and find a copy!!! have a great day.
I'm 27 and I LOVE Sherbet! Mum left me with no choice really......We try and see Daryl when he is in town, he is such a great live performer. Going to see "Gimme that Guitar' next month, really can't wait!!
Just the best..I love Blue Minks version too...yes 60s and 70s was pure true music talent and sheer quality....not like some of the stuff we get today...THIS has the X Factor Pop Idol and Fame Academy all rolled into one!!!!
I was a huge sherbet fan, have heaps of memorabilia and records. could not bare to part with my teen obsessions. maybe should make up a slide slideshow sometime for utube. Im 51 years old now but still love the music after all these years
I wonder who the presenter of the show was. He was pretty dishy too, as was Daryl of course. In fact Daryl is still not too bad on the eye. I saw him in concert a few weeks ago.
I'm 55 - and this still sends shivers down my spine! I only have to listen to it, and my teenage years all come rushin' back! I actually had this as a 45 single - only wished I knew where it was now!
Hi, i must be 1 of the girls who didn't love daryl, Garth Porter done it for me, then the drummer...Alan sandown{ i think was his name}...OMG Sherbet, a com back tour would be fantastic...
@563gypsy my brother in law is called Garth must be a 70's thing What a band these guys were WORLD CLASS I saw every show they ever played in Brisbane and tmg too watching this clip just bought back so many memories Festival hall here my hq monaro which I still have What a great time in Aussie music Dave
@563gypsy tell your hubby that he was a member of a really great band. I used to work with Harvey in the Eighties at Brash's. Really nice bloke. God I miss those days
This was actually the band's second single, but the first to chart in Australia, released in January 1971. The b-side was a Jackson 5 song, "The Love You Save (May Be Your Own)". Yes, it is Alan on drums, but the bass player is Bruce Worrall. The song was eventually included on their 1972 album "Time Change - A Natural Progression"
I still remember this song around 1970 when I was eating a golden gaytime icecream I think My Sweet Lord by George H was the next song on the radio follwed by Free. How lucky was I to live in that era!
I don't remember it being a hit here, I love it & have it tho. Still doesn't look the proper lineup eg. drums - is that Alan? And Jeff Phillips calls them "The" Sherbet yet we never knew them as that. Sounds rather silly lol This is when music was worth listening to & you got to see the actual bands instead of made up clips. So wish I'd seen them, loved the girls screaming.
Yes, and he was from NZ which I didn't know for years. The girls loved him as much as Daryl. He sang Matter Of Time lead vocals didn't he? Great song, great band, great era.
This was one of my favourite Sherbet songs. And i still love all of the old songs. Most of the djs on the radio station don't know this song. I know u would remember it sparksie. Can can play it on your program on WSFM. Regards Colin. Umina Beach. NSW.
This is my favourite Sherbet song. Well, along with Summerlove, Cassandra, Child's Play.... Thanks SOOOO much for the clip! Never thought I would see it!! Oh, also You've Got The Gun, Only One You......
Oh! oh! oh!! What a blast from the past. Thanks frozenfish. The lovelything about this clip is, the guys are obviously still excited by the first flush of fame. Watch the coy smiles on Daryl and Garths faces. It's still good a million years later.
Loved this

Very nice. I like it. Good song.
to expand on Dtate91 statement:
60s and 70's = true music talent
I dare any of todays groups to write and sing a song of this calibre.

Other than The Masters'Appentices and The Easybeats,Australian music is normally rather bad.
I only discovered this today through 'jannalli' and I think it is brilliant. Some blue eyed soul existed in Australia after all...
