I've been to Barcelona many times. The first time in 1972. La Boqueria is spectacular. I always rent a flat literally one block from the market. I never miss the opportunity to shop at the market and cook whenever I can. There's nothing that compares in New York City visually or with the variety of produce, meat, fish, bread, pastries, dried fruit , wine and liquor. Even if you're staying in a hotel make it a point to visit the market. I can't imagine anyone posting anything negative.

No visit to the Boqueria is complete without stopping by at Bar Central - walk down the middle of the market until you are nearly out the far end and you will find it on your right. Don't be surprised if you have to wait for a stool at peak times - but do wait , it's well woth it!
Desde luego no entiendo porque comentas que no aconsejas el mercado ni su visita...Entiendo que no te importa la tradición ni la cultura gastronómica. Ojalá seas un genio en otras materias.
