As a longtime baseball player. From 6 to 27, finally quitting from shot knees. I've always said if you notice the umpire, he's not doing his job. But I respect what they do, which isn't much. They get paid to watch a pro game, just pay attention, watch the bag listen for the ball at first. And everywhere else if the runner's tagged before he gets to the bag he's out, if not he's safe. That simple, they get paid six figures to do that? Sign me up.
@jasondukebaird Hey get your 3k saved up and give it a shot, they r looking for people like you. When your head is spinning and your crying for your mother, remember it's easy.
@spooff4life I'd set a new standard for umpires, I'd get the calls right and I wouldn't have a sh**ty attitude, that would be a welcome change for managers and players, hey maybe I will.
@jasondukebaird Listen, I like your confidence, and You probably could do a couple Little league or Rec games with no major issues. it's not one or two games that make a good umpire. You need to sustain a clear and level head for a whole season. I have been an umpire for 17 years, and I am considered an "A" umpire and I still kick calls now and then. I also work a full time job and have kids to deal with so I can't dedicate my life to it. Nobody can get every call right, and thats a fact !
As a life long Phillies fan, I've seen Larry Andersen pitch, and now am subjected to listening to this guy as a Phils color announcer on the radio. He is the BIGGEST umpire basher I've ever heard. After listening to his comments during a game concerning "blue", you might think that they're nothing but a bunch of chimps. His bias is disgraceful, and shameful. He acts as if they just plucked 4 guys off of a turnip trunk to officiate a MLB game. Grow up Larry.
With your shot knees you won't be able to call balls and strikes or safe and out at first base.

@t21229513 Oh I could do that and more but why would I want a job that they could train a monkey to do?

@redverter Well most umpires can't even get that much right, so I'd be ahead of the curve, haha!
