I never realized until recently how much Wing Chun has in common with Mantis. I am a Wing Chun practitioner, but I really like your form here. It looks like in Mantis, you also uses a lot of sticking and triangular footwork.
This is the only known dummy set specializing in capturing techniques, with emphasis in controlling and close-in footwork, constantly shifting the body off the central/middle line. Wing Chun set, however, emphasizes sensational feeling with smooth power flow, and softness of upper limbs is an absolute requirement in Wing Chun dummy practice.
It might be a bit hard for one to understand the principles behind this particular set unless he has some TCPM background.
That's great, I only learned roughly the first 12 moves of the 106(?) in the set. I own a book that shows Chuk Kai doing all of the moves but unfortunately it's all in Chinese. :(
The way I will be learning the dummy is really technical.... As in when you make contact you have to click the arm into the corner and keep it there as you flow round... As in if it moves you giving an impulse
thats cool :) isnt the wooden dummy thing called a muk jon sorry i dont kn ow how to spell it

@fookensoul
Well when you can adapt a martial arts training tool into other styles it is a truly great thing.

Congratulations, Instructor Andrew!
Fine performances, this is a test of his seriousness about the style of mantis!
In Brazil practice lineage of Grand Master Brendan Lai!
Thanks!

Thanks for posting this! I've got the manual for this form, but seeing it in action really makes everything much clearer.

Don't listen to the critics. It looks like you know what you're doing. Continue forward.

good work, but do not turn your back in a fight, just a tip

Very nice! I would have put more power in the kicks, break the legs mentality, but overall excellent work.

good striking, wor on the foot work. dont get me wrong your foot work is good but you hop around to much.

Agreed - it leaves him off balance in a situation where you really DON'T want to be off balance.

And Im not sure if its necessary to bow to the dummy. I never bow to the punching bag after I hit it, or bow to the weights after I lift them.

...or bow to the person that you've just beaten the crap out of...No, I think you're missing the point here, my friend.

Awesome Dummy Form, but sloppy execution. You need to finish one move before doing the next, it makes a difference in training and in combat!

This is prey mantis use of the dummy is it ?
Some interesting moves here, very nice.
