In my experience with several AKs, you're going to have to disassemble & reassemble the bolt a few times with a ball peen hammer and pin punch before the parts get loose enough for this to work. Pretty cool process though; I never thought of using the cleaning kit as a standoff for the bolt.
@ftenorio1 the 2nd amendment right is guaranteed to the united states citizens by the constitution of the united states of america, it is there to protect you, and your family from any invader. a robber, or the government. if you believe the government will never try to screw you over then you sir live in a fantasy land and i laugh my ass off at you XDDD if you dont like me owning 2 ak47's, 2 ar-15's, 3 shotguns, 1handgun, and a few bows then come take them. i dare ya :)
My Ak-74 bolt wont come apart. Its the first pin thats giving me trouble. I have tried break-free and lightly tapping the punch with a hammer, still nothing. Im afraid if I apply a little to much hammer it will break. Any suggestions?

Good videos. Been wondering how to take the bolt apart. Is there anything that cleaning kit can't do?

Now these are professional hands over an AK-47, I bet the manufacturers of this gun wouldnt do it that simply!

From what I've seen and heard, the cleaning kit is supposed to go into the buttstock facing the other way; with the narrow end in.

Thank you very much! Great reference and the only vid that I could find.

You made that look easy. Reassembly can be a pain, as alignment of the extractor retaining pin is critical.
