Hi, i would like to ask if there's a good method in learning how to play the triplets against eight notes? im currently finding it insanely hard to put the left and the right hand together. any help appreciated.

just play them together. the timing is extremely hard to describe. cos with eighth notes and eighth note triplets, u cant just play one set of triplets against 2 eighth notes. so basically, just play them together, it sounds crazy, but it is like that.

i think it's best to start by just tapping the rhythm with your hands very slowly. You can do this at school/work/driving/whenever.

Then once you've trained it in your hands, move to the keyboard, but always make sure you start slow.

I would recommend putting each voice to a metronome before putting it together each time you practice it. For this piece in particular you need to be able to separate the metre in the voicing as you play.

For those who say it sounds better slow, it depends on how it's played. This particular arrangement for the official piano collection is generally played with a more deliberate, pressing pace.

The reason it doesn't sound so great to some of you isn't because of the general pacing, but the inconsistencies of it. Even the performance on the official soundtrack is pretty off balance -- that dude can't play triplets.

i think the left hand is doing too much in some parts, it may be written on the score, but I think it would sound much better if you played quavers instead of semiquavers and this would bring out the voice part more too.. It's supposed to be a slow piece and those fast notes in the left hand make it sound fast. that's not your fault, somebody arranged the score like that and you're just following it, otherwise good performance.

THe piano arrangement is alot faster than the guitar, but sobedragon, you're playing it abit too fast. I have the sheet music and the tempo's only 70.

Well, to tell the truth, I'd like to tell you your performance is REALLY great. But..Like 25500 said, try listening to the theme again. And then try playing it again when you get the hang of the speed of it. But still, I loved this one, you got good stuff going on ^^. Waiting to see the best version of this.

You need to listen to the theme again. That's how Uematsu plays it in his piano solo, pretty much exactly. Like to see the rest of you guys do better, have you seen how many octaves he covers so quickly? Great stuff SobeDragon7, keep at it :P.
