  • Great job! It's wonderful how their names are flexible. It seems it would be easier to understand the growth and flexibility of one's identity if you could change your name periodically, depending on what was important to you.

  • They should do an update on these kids :)

  • @DavioX596 nice try, I'm not falling for that troll

  • @DavioX596 of course. But it's an audience that anyone could troll to be honest (bieber fans).

  • Sign language is so smooth, I should learn it.

  • awesome kids. this is why when i troll, i never insult the deaf.

  • point is.. we don't have any clue about their world... we look at them and do not comprehend that they're special and there is a lot that they do not have access to. Even the simple task of watching a news program is something that they do not have access to without a translator. We are too ignorant... that's the truth.

  • Emil is the cutest!

  • woooooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwww

'lovely'... 'lovely' is not enough. little lovely warriors. not even.

    :D

  • The girl at 3:07 is really pretty.

  • I want to learn so bad

  • i bet they can't wait to learn how to write

  • Comment removed

  • all that i notice is that 7 year old boys are pussies... i never saw a girl cried.....

idk if one dd cause this is borring so i like didn't watch the last 6mins or so..

  • i watched that to the end and i feel like a better person

  • The body language is great.

  • @futureshorts

Just a quibble with your description. 'Sign Language' isn't the name of their language. There are many different sign languages and they each have names, just as the many different spoken languages of the world do.

  • lovely kids. and such great, natural actors they are, so animated and expressive in their faces, need to be I guess.

  • I like the kid at the end, saying the British team is crap! HA HA HA!

  • i really liked this, all the kids were really sweet. I liked when they talked about how annoying it is to speak to their parents since they don't understand what they are saying. Kids are so honest. I think there is an innocence about them and yet they have this sort of maturity/wisdom or different understanding of things. These children just seemed to really appreciate each other because they have a mutual understanding even when one got mad. It was cute the boy who was the peacemaker

  • The counselor on a deaf community Deafornot dot c om said that "People who may be defined as clinically deaf (unable to hear spoken language) may or may not be members of the Deaf community."

  • Oh I can't Imagine what Its like to have to express everything with my hands. I used to take my voice and expressing things through words for granted. But now thanks to this video, I really understand.

  • i usually hate little kids, cause im a teen, duh, but these kids are cool

  • at first I thought the woman was trying to talk to him

  • this was so cute. IT was fun comparing American Sign Language signs with this!

  • Mom: Johnny come and get your dinner!

    *No awnser*

Mom: Whats wrong with you child?! Are you deaf?! >:|

  • continued. . .

If you imagine someone trying to put a similar spin on blindness, or even the lack of ability to smell and taste, I think just how absurd this romanticizing of deafness is becomes apparent.

  • @XavierNinnis It's not romanticizing. There is no blind community or taste-lacking community in the same sense there is a Deaf community . The Deaf have a whole language and culture inside of the communities of their respective countries. It's not absurd. It's the truth.

  • Just because of this little film I had begun to learn sign language. I'm just at the beginning, so I can't understand every word they spell. But what I can see is that they 'speak' in ISL (international sign language) and I learn DGS (Deutsche gebärdensprache, german sign laguage).

  • they are so beautiful and happy! It's just a pity they have problems in comunication with their parents.

  • In my opinion, this shows intelligence way beyond most other 'non-deaf' child their age. Just, wow.

  • 00:00 damit ihr die werbung uberspringen könnt

  • I wanted to learn sign, but I thought there was only one universal language. :c This complicates things.

  • i enjoyed watching this!

    Hoped.... it was longer! :D

  • WOW... lots of the Danish signs are similar to American Sign Language - COOL!

  • 17 minutes isn't a short

  • LOL, their deaf.

  • the way they try to make sounds, makes me sad.

  • @AznSwat - why sad? it's not sad to them... only your perception is sad... I work with Deaf and there is no pity until a 'hearing' person introduces it...

  • @MyHappyHands hmm i think that was my point.

I feel sad, cuz they can't hear music and all.

I didn't say they are sad

  • @AznSwat - that's what I mean - feeling pity, sadness for one means their JOY and self-awareness in who they are is not enough... I think it is - they are beautifully COMPLETE in themselves as is - I am HAPPY for them, they are beautiful.

  • @MyHappyHands that's ur opinion, without sound is not perfect.

and that's my opinion. there is many thing you can learn and enjoy your life from hearing. and they don't have any or have any kind of knowledge.

  • "i support manchester united, do you know them? they are crap" hahahaha :)

  • WOW a whole world where to them, were the deaf ones

  • imagine by jonn lennon

  • great direction the whole thing......from introducing children to..putting it all together....ya editing awesome....

  • Wow this is a beautiful film and officially on my top 3 favorite short-films

  • these kids are so adorable :)

  • i want a bicycle like that.O_O

  • They r too cute

  • touché!

  • cute danish kids! aw this is a very good documentary.

  • @dumbblodine

Actually that depends this was posted in 2008 these kids look like 8 or 9 it was 2 years ago which would make them about 10 or 11

    BUT that all depends

    On when this was filmed

  • @Ileeanamusic

Hi.. Well actually, i think in this video it's my seventh or eight birthday, and about two weeks ago i became 17 years old, so the video should be about 9-10 years old :)

  • thatd be funny if the teacher was talking and she was like pay attention class! and the kids were like what did you say? she was like what are you deaf? and they were like yes actually i am. :)

  • i loove to see this childeren, they are about 16-19 now...

they are were verry cute then...

  • i am Deaf, but video has no captions for hard of hearing! is it possible to add them please?

  • Hey, I subtitling this video to Portuguese but

I didnt get what the girl says at 14:01?!

    My name é [...] Josephine..

What does she say before Josephine?!

    Thanks!

  • Josephine says "my name is cheeky..." and then she says "Josephine", then she goes on to say "before my sign name ....etc etc"

  • @fernandojunior6

She said something like, "My name is SiSi. Josephine."

  • Noo!!!! How cute are they??

  • great video opens my eyes up about deaf people

  • denmark is a good country

  • What a life...

  • fist time ive seen people singing without sound :)

  • That's cute. C:

  • I know that girl who name's sadaf, and i've been in that school once for long time ago, to visit and see how sadafs school was.. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH SADAF!!! YOU'R SO LITTLE AND DAMN CUTE IN THIS VIDEO!!!!! OMG SOO CUUUTTE!!!!! Luuuve uuu

  • It never claims to be ASL. It takes place in Denmark and it's Danish Sign Language, not ASL. ASL isn't a universal language.

  • Its the one advancement of the modern age that actually benefited mankind.

  • 'They're crap!' Really cute film. Makes me want to learn sign language.

  • wow...

  • A world of its own !!! Just wonderful !

  • probably cause you don't know any. They're just people like everybody else.

  • wow

  • they remind me of Italians, and how they speak with their hands XD

  • love it

    insightful

  • just added to my favorites....amazing vid

  • Brilliant. Tells me how much I take talking for granted, I'd like to learn how to speak in sign language. Great film.

  • Is the song the kids sing at the birthday party their version of happy birthday to you?

  • Yeah it is. It's quite funny to me to watch this, because it's actually my birthday in this video. The birthday song in this video is the danish birthday song, even though we have two, but this song is the most used in Denmark.

  • you're the blonde boy in this video?

  • yes, i am the blonde boy in this video..

  • how do i know if you are the blonde boy? and there are two

  • @DarenKagasoffFansite Why do i have to prove that i am the blonde boy?.. if i say so, then i am?

  • This is amazing....

  • bow to them...

  • Oh and cool, learned some Danish signs and learned that they use some signs that are ASL(American sign language) also!

  • These kids are awesome and funny! Love em and person voicing did excellent!

  • Amazing! These kids are great! I wish I could sing-language to.

    Greets from Germany!

  • Those kids are pretty mature for their age!

  • remind me my childrenhood.

    its just normal kid day:)

  • The narrator for this is excellent. Very expressive and I thought she captured the kids emotions really well.

  • It's a she? It remainds me of "RAM"'s (aniboom's animation) voice...

    Great narrator

  • this kids are amazing a lot clevers <3 i wanna learn deaf leanguaje is nice

  • The deaf kids in my hood were always the smartest, they knew how to use the computer first, they dressed funky and expressive and they have gone to other countries with their school. They were too cool for us, we felt intimidated and fascinated running into them on the street.

  • it shows the greatness of human abilities!!!!!........they are amazing!!!!!!!!.........has anyone noticed the way they talk to each other......???....they're really mature!!!!!.....i luv em

  • I so wish that I could speak in sign language like they can its amazing with what they can do.

  • that was quite beautiful

  • Its great to see these kids are so bold. I'm sure they will go far in their lives.

  • they are clever...

  • Aw that was gorgeous!

  • at 12:03 the little boy's face so cute! lovely little film why don't they make more like this?

  • i never knew what they are saying and it got to suck when your own parents dont understand you, but they are cute and have alot of expression.

  • Its really interesting how much is similar to ASL even though they are signing in Danish! :) WOW!

  • all the deaf kids at my school were always jerks for some reason. so i was under the impression that all deaf people were real jerks. but this video is real cool.

    :)

  • Umm... what? That is textbook stereotyping. : |

  • Me encantó!!!!!

    Lo disfruté como pocos!

    Gran corto!

  • Great video! THe chidlren are so talkative!

  • What a heartwarming film. Those kids are so beautiful, I loved watching them sign.

  • Amazing!

  • Brilliant little documentary. Though I would think it would be very difficult for them to learn much new vocab if they speak better sign language than their parents. I know they come into contact with new words at school but we learn so much from our parents.

  • Bright smart kids... lovely

  • i actually watched the whole thing with no interuptions. i love it.

  • i love the way these kids interact

  • I LOVED this film wonderfully done, thank you for posting this.

  • Beautiful video. It's great to watch the similarities between Australian Sign Language (AUSLAN) and Danish. Regardless of the language, sign is just so expressive, no matter where it is in the world.

  • This was fantastic.

  • Oh, I love deaf people, I don`t know why. I love their language and I don`t know.

  • As your ears controll your balance, if your deaf does that mean your balance is worser than a person who isnt deaf?

  • No... There's fluid in the inner ear that helps you determine your balance. It has nothing to do with hearing. What your saying is like saying someone who can't smell also can't breathe through their nose.

  • Awesome video. Makes me want to learn sign language.

  • im so impressed with those kids. they sign so fast the lady talking cant keep up. and if you notice they are talking while they sign. its kind of like talking two languages at the same time. those are some amazing kids.

  • what a great way to show that these kids are just like any other kids - as you watch you forget that they are any different or have a disability at all! kudos to a great little film:o)

  • that was really touching and sweet - thanks!

  • that was so sweet. great little documentary

  • The kids are adorable.

  • beautiful

  • This is a cute documentary. It's interesting watching kids play. Must be frustrating though when you're tryng to talk to a group of people and the odd person has his back to you for a moment.

  • i believe they re lucky cuz they don t have to hear all the terrible music and cursing out there

  • It wasn't suppose to be funny. It was a mini documentary.

  • they seems so intelligent. i have never understud how deaf kids from chirldhood can learn sign language in such a little age, think and act with no ,

  • with no deffects

  • that is amazing tho i dont know any sl

  • for me, they're just like normal kids except that they're deaf/mute(but that doesn't matter). they're very smart and they're opinions and perceptions in life are just the same with everyone else. like when they were talking about sports and when that little girl said her parents were annoying. well, this video just made me smile. it was very touching and honest. :-)

  • Amazing video. I know some ASL, but not much.

  • Very sweet and well-made documentary. The kids are so touching. It was funny to see the equivalent of a hearing person trying to speak with a mouthful, as one boy was carrying the two tires and had two put them down to have his hands free every time he wanted to say something, hehe. Very good voice-over! I wonder if in denmark there is also a relatively greater part of disabled kids from foreign origins..

  • Deaf children are smarter then normal kids, yeah xP

  • I want a silent name =( why can they have and not me ? snufs :(

  • This is so cool...awsome! I wish I could do that!

  • beautiful

  • lmao pee+poo+chocolate ..lol...

The girl was cool, the one saying that the friend was filmed while whispering.

Don't really put much attention to it but i never thought deaf/mute people can whisper but i guess if you think about it they can.

  • wow...that wuz a different perspective but they are so similar to us!

  • that was really stunning

I clicked on, saw it was nearly 17 minutes long and thought-i can't put up with this-i can only usually take youtube's low quality for a short while-but THE CHARACTERS! They were mesmerising - and the voiceover was very personable and characterful - i felt as though she was being very honest with what they were saying.

It was sad to hear that their parents didn't know much sign language - in some ways I think that would make a terrific follow-up documentary. thank you!

  • Awesome. I've tried picking up some sign language but it's kind of difficult to catch the nuances in the movements.

  • The kids seem really smart, and they resolve their problems instead of fist fighting over things (as far as I've seen), and if sign language is as easy as the child says, I'd be willing to try and learn it ^_^

  • What is the clarinet (or bass clarinet) music at 7:24?

  • amezing watched the whole thing

  • This is so amazing vid. Thanks for posting! :)

  • Wow this is really great and amazing!

  • They really are like any other children... except way cooler.

  • Knowing sign language would be so cool. These kids are great!

  • those 16min and 47sec were really worth watching!! awsum kidz! :) i enjoyd the interpretation, VERY OUTSTANDING JOB!! FUNNY TOO! HA. : P

  • great.

  • haha i loved the little boys argument on when his birthday was! it was CUTE!

  • wow! this was highly interesting! it was so cool to see the children talking in sign! its one of earth wonders! it was awsome! keep making vids!

  • i loved it

i think i want to become a teacher for deaf kids

    it was so cute

  • so cool. i think sign language is the most beautiful in the world.

And these kids, I've never seen such extensive signing, so i haven't realized all the inflections they put in with only their faces.

  • Wow. I never realized that deaf people used so much inflection in their signing!

  • woah dude.

  • i love languages =]

  • Loved the video! Also wanted to add that these are extremely intelligent children. I've always wanted to learn Sign Language. I think it was Rasmus who said "Signing is easy and there is sooo many things you can say." xD

  • I don't mean to be rude but learning Sign Language is not easy at all. Im going to school to become an interpreter for the Deaf and there is so many things you have to learn then you can even imagine.

  • I am sure it is not easy. I am willing to dedicate time to learning it.

  • Well done! I agree with peckerwoodtwist that sign language should be taught in a regular school. Parents should also learn it so that they would fully understand their kids.

  • I agree with peckerwoodtwist. I think sign language should be taught like any other language in high school. I know they offer it in college, but it gets harder and harder for the mind to pick up a language at that point.

  • Wow, that was very well made. I oughta pick up a few words...
