@jonah286 You can get them from asian craft stores like Morning Glory. I'm pretty sure some arts and crafts stores should have it too. Some ppl get it on Ebay as well.
@faeriedustgrl I've made a tutorial on straw stars, made with paper. its may be easier since its not as hard to press/fold (I've put it in the vid responses)
@faeriedustgrl Yes agree with you that paper stars are much more pratical than these straw stars. However, in my own opinion, I think these straw stars look a lot nicer. :P
depens on where you live, casue if u live in brooklyn new york, u could get them in 8th ave(this underground store next to a gincen place), china town (ec) and they are pretty cheap. like mostly $1 for 2 or 3 depends on the sizes.
get it from helloe kitty storree theres some on malls, in san Francisco n in oakland chinatown if u live in california but u can get it anyy were that sells paper starrrrr and oragami papersss
you shouldn't be talking trash bout my motha cuz i least i got one. if ur saying somethin bak i ain't payin no attention to it so say watev and i wont care at least my motha raised me with some manners.
eh , shortiedragon , i saw your comment on the panda bottle. so did u find it? and also the black and white straws. i tried to find them , but i can't! my girlfriend birthday is coming real soon. i want to make something for her. could anyone help me? thanks!
weel i thiught it was great...i love folding stuff and i´m really into origami so i thought this was a pretty gfodd video, even with your fingers on the way..=)thank you
yep, it is a little tricky to tuck in the last part sometimes, but try to get it in there at just the right angle and it should go through easily. practice makes perfect ;)
they're a little more than 16 in and quite different from regular straws. you can buy them at chinatown or craft stores that usually sell origami paper should have a pack of these straws.
sorry to say this, but could you make another one where you show how it looks like after each step? because your fingers are like blocking it ya know? i really want to make it and i can't do it. =[. its kinda hard to see wat ur donig witht eh stars becasue of ur fingers.
After that process, you should take turns folding the two straws up and down the sides of the star. So move straw that is already on the bottom, up and the straw that is on top, down. Now repeat this process using the straw that you just folded down, fold up, etc. Hope that wasn't too confusing..Good luck!
hey, i already know how to make one of these straw stars. you know how some people put them into jars and give it as a gift? i want to make black/white stars and make it look like a panda. have you seen any jars shaped like a panda before? i just checked the chinatown near me and couldnt find any.
That's a great idea to do them in black/white. I've seen jars in all kinds of shapes (heart, snoopy, round, etc.) but I haven't come across any with panda shapes..keep searching! There's got to be a panda one out there..Good luck!

Yeah they sell them in small packs of ten to fifteen or so straws..I don't think they are sold in bulks though..I guess you would have to buy ten packs of those then..^^"
When you first fold the "L" shape, the right is on top. After that, fold the top straw to the bottom and the right side to the left. Make a triangle and repeat until you have six triangles.
It's not a lot of work once you get the hang of folding it..you can make a number of these stars and put them in a glass jar. It makes a great display or a gift to a friend!

MaYoNnAiSeLoVeYoU 2 years ago
i didnt really understand what exactly you done
qwertyflib1 2 years ago
well..you basically:
1. Flatten the straw first
2.Fold it in half & unfold it
3.Make tht 'L' shape
4.Take the 2 long parts of the straw & fold it over the middle part only once, srta as if youre makin a catapiller.
5.Fold over the whole triangle part (0:40 - 0:45)
6.Now fold over those ends abt 5 more times (rmr to fold the triangles over too!)
7.Srta weave the ends of the straw like in the vid. Tuck the ends in.
Bleh..its hard to explain how to do it. Better to learn it in person..

Maybe you should double them up. you get a really cool affect from it.
so instead of folding one straw per star, fold two straws per star.

PreciousHopes 4 years ago
i'm sorry..i will definitely be making another video next week. it is very hard trying not to block the steps because the straw is so small/thin.
kai1222 4 years ago
you can try using the bigger straws to do it. since they are easier to do.
PreciousHopes 4 years ago
if you pull harder when you wrap the straw around the star and make it tighter, it'll look a LOT prettier...

it's a special straw to make these kind of stars. (it needs to be long to make enough layers for good star).

how do you tick the straw through thatpart in the end so easily? It always takes me so long to get it in there.
