  • What song is this?

  • @RatedA4A Smashing Pumpkins: The beginning is the end is the beginning. Or The end is the beginning is the end. I always mix them up..

  • "Illustrated by Dave Gibbons" this is true but he was not the mastermind behind the project, Allen Moore wrote it with creative input from Dave Gibbons, Allen Moore also came up with the style of art he wanted in the novel, which is why he specifically chose Dave Gibbons as his illustrator. All character designs by Dave Gibbons with creative input from Allen Moore. this creative input includes Rorshach's mask, hence the name

  • I LOVE LOVE this movie but I detest every member of Watchmen except for Rorschach and Nite Owl. I especially hate Dr. Manhattan. What an a-hole. >3>

  • This is Zack Snyder's best movie by far, and one of the best movies ever created, by far.

    Fuck 300.

  • an amazing movie..to bad a lot of people did understand the whole concept.

  • If only more movies were as close to the original material as this...

  • this movie was w/e....it wasnt that great but it did suck balls compare to the dark knight, i know its not action packed and is supposed to about the drama and inner stroy of a hero but even at that it still wasnt great = /

  • @BadVoodo0 You should really read the source material, the film is a lot more complex than you give it credit for(hence the huge devoted fanbase) This isn't a movie to be watching lightly, think about it.

  • The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning - Smashing Pumpkins. This song makes feel like ........ Dr. Manhattan..... or Batman....or both....

  • Long live marvel, but this was a great film. (and novel)

  • This was easily my favorite movie. There is much more philosophical significance that I found intriguing, and the american history references interested me more than anything.

  • best movie... i love long movies because i dont feel like theyre trying to squash everything in. i didn't quite understand the diologue the first time, but when i watched it several months later, i realized how complex, and wonderfully thick the dialogue and the story itself was... i fell in love.

    ps whats the song name??

  • best movie... i love long movies because i dont feel like theyre trying to squash everything in. i didn't quite understand the diologue the first time, but when i watched it several months later, i realized how complex, and wonderfully thick the dialogue and the story itself was... i fell in love.

  • That blue guy makes me think of BiosShock :D

  • i stoped halfway through i had to do something is it any good fanboys please dont reply ye are to envolved

  • @Fibonacci3326 It's great if you bother to actually think about it and follow the storyline. For you however, I wouldn't recommend it as your attention span clearly isn't long enough :p

  • Wish there was some talking between the Newsstand guy and the black kid

  • @monkeydevil2 On the DVD release they've made a short film of the minor comic story that takes place within the novel. You can watch it in special features :)

  • This movie was great, It wasnt rocket science to keep up with and it had nice camera shots and good action scenes, what is wrong with it?

  • this was the laaaaaameeeeest movie i ever saw

  • This movie suck =)

  • great graphic novel but the movie was kinda bad

  • @MikeBannShow

you sir, are a complete and utter idiot, you have no ability to look beyond the surface to see an underlying reality. You truly make me feel releived that I was not born with your brain capacity which must be somewhat similar to a brain damaged mouse.

    thank you and

    goodbye

  • You sir are a dumbass

wow a brain damaged mouse. thats clever

    thank you and goodbye

  • hahaha nice one dude!

  • @MikeBannShow yes you are right its the worst movie i have ever seen and bad music too

  • If you want to meet a complete idiot with no interpretatio capacity talk to the person Below, otherwise stay away

  • If you want to watch a movie that is nothing but intros and blue penis this is for you other wise stay away!

  • and i whisper no !

  • watch it

  • Fucking great book fucking great movie.

  • @TaborThaWicked That just says it all.

  • @TaborThaWicked and fucking great song

  • First RFID test implantation occured on August 24, 1998 in the United Kingdom.

24th - First Day of Virgo

    1 / 0.666 = 1.50150150150

    Virgo lies on 150th longitude

    Thanks for playing, Neo.

  • I shat myself when I found out they were making a movie, I loved the book so much. And they really pulled it off, too. I doubt Jackie Earle Healey is going to get nominated for an Oscar, but he totally deserves one.

  • Guys I really hate all this critizisim, SERIOUSLY, the biggest problem in the world is that no one is ever kind to one another, they spread hate, and anger, and disrepect, if you not going to say something nice then take you Bullshit SOMEWHERE ELSE that people dont care!

  • Witch, witch, you're a bitch. How's that for a nursery rhyme? :)

  • i like this version of the song alot

  • Thank U so Much!!! :)

  • What is this music???

  • smashing pumpkins - beginning is the end is the beginning

  • You're clearly another of these morons who didn't like it because there was too much complex dialogue. It was a brilliantly directed film, and the novel is incredibly well written too. The casting is practically perfect and it's just the right length. The line "All movie is a piece of shit" shows your stupid grammar skills.

  • @Wallij15 actually no the only thing the movie did right was to make it look like the comic which is again an achievement, but writing wise, they explained everything in the movie, with less character and complexity

  • @Wallij15 The movie was alright but the book pretty cool i like snyder's style

  • @Wallij15 Uhhmm...Grammar skills cant be stupid, poor maybe. Just saying..

  • @Wallij15 i like this movie cuse its with super heros but its to complex for me XD but every one has a single taste

  • @Wallij15 thats right man

  • nothing nice to say?

    fuck off!

  • lol u sounded like the rorshack dude "all movie is a piece of shit"

if u just want pointless action then go watch crank or something leave the thinking to others like most dumbasses

  • Yusuke252....

The movie is philosophical but not in the sense you may be referring to.

The movie portrays society in a nutshell. Rorschach being the Idealist, Adrian being the successful businessman who sacrifices basic morals to the bigger scheme, Dr. Manhattan is supposed to represent Jesus and Mankind's own creation of it's destruction. The comedian killed JFK, representing the belief that the government had him killed off because they rejected his policies.

  • Have you read 'Watchmen and Philosophy' (ed. Mark D White, pub. Wiley 2009)? It's a collection of essays by philosophy professors and lecturers in the US, who happen to be Watchmen fans too. If you're intrigued by what the characters represent, you won't be able to put this book down!

  • The movie is so deep, ith so many almost hidden treasures that it gets even better every time I watch it again. The references about Nixon, Regan, Vietnam, the symbolism of the characters all portray humanity on a global scale better than any other movie I've ever seen. It is a hard movie to watch, but a rewarding one too.

  • was i the only person who found this film disturbing well just one part when rorschach found the the little girls remains in the apartment but a great film do it really makes you think

  • just about how easy all life could be ended by 1 simple comand (nuclear holocaust)

  • yusuke252...

if you didn't like the film then perhaps try the comic, it's not so much philosophical as insight into the socio-psychological and political involvements and motivations of 'superheroes' within a realistic backdrop. i recommend the comic as the detail is far greater, however the film should have well been enough for you to point the finger at anything you disagree with, but 'life and shit' isn't something that is easily shrugged off, besides, all we have is life and shit, agreed?

  • The question is not who will stop Doctor Manhattan, it is who will Manhattan save. The Greek philosopher Socrates posed the question "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes" which translates into who will watch the watchmen. The basic principle of the movie is what will they do with this power, they are ordinary citizens who can alter the world around them. It is fascinating the way in which they created this plot of taking ordinary people and giving them the right to alter world affairs.

  • This poses the question that is it or was it the right of Adrian to play the role of god over others lives. Being the opposite of Rorschach but still on the same side fighting for good is the major role, making you question whether it was he who committed the cardinal sin and playing god, or it was it he who was the worlds defender. Adrian represents the area in between, Rorschach never believed in, stepping on the boundaries of both good and evil and doing it for a greater cause

  • At the end you find out the true story which is the movies way of saying that not all that is good always comes through victorious and if you want to be victorious there must be victims. Adrian replicated Dr. Manhattans powers and in doing so he needed a way for Dr. Manhattan to leave Earth so he had reporters insinuate to Dr. Manhattan that he was somehow radioactive and that he was giving cancer to people who spent time with him.

  • Adrian is the most interesting out of all of them in my opinion. Adrian is an arrogant individual who uses his reputation and fame to become a wealthy businessman. He is the smartest man in the world, far exceeding anyone. The movie builds up making you have a slight distaste for him because of his intelligence and manors. It leads you to the conclusion towards the end that Adrian is destroying the world for pure pleasure and lending the blame off to Dr. Manhattan but this is wrong.

  • When Rorschach dies and his blood is splattered on the ground it is the vague outline of a snow angel. This is quite a symbolic figure. Showing that signified that Rorschach was the unwavering believer and was the final point being made of the true believer of justice and him dying for those exact thoughts.

  • He died at the end of the movie because there is always someone who stands for light, someone who is the epitome of righteousness and justice. Dr. Manhattan kills him because Rorschach will reveal to the world that actual lie that they live on and in doing so it would cause mass chaos because people would go back to the exact thing that they were fighting over.

  • There is a perverted center section in which Rorschach will never know because his beliefs are based on either light or dark and to him there is no middle section up for debate. He died for a cause that he was destined to die for because in a realistic world Rorschach's morals only live up to what events are around him and in a realistic world where people are not always good or bad and they waver on decisions.

  • Rorschach is the Idealist. His beliefs are the typical super hero or person, his believes right from wrong and is dedicated to serving justice. Justice and evil doing and black and white to him and cemented like that. The movie wants to portray the fact that yes Idealists can make a difference but the world is not the great place that is always differentiated between good and evil.

  • The entire story is shown through the super heroes and each one plays a specific role in society, with this being a philosophical movie. Doctor Manhattan represents a living god who has the ability to alter everything around him and that is being done by humans except nuclear war. He can change anything but that is not his decision to play the role of god and decide who lives and dies.

  • For one, Dr. Manhattan learns to recreate himself, he isn't going to let a mere human be able to destroy him, he stated that this was his first action to learn to place himself back together. The reality behind Doctor Manhattan is that he is able to change the structural support of his epidermal layer and in doing so all of his contents spew into the atmosphere and he is able to put himself back together with quantum mechanics and changing the hypothetical "wave fields" that hold him together

  • pretty much, though i have seen people who don't even get the story

  • i find the amount of people who do not understand this film who are bashing it funny

  • Comment removed

  • i WATCHED THE WATCHMEN. I didn't think I'd like it cause I knew Manhattan is the most dumb-ass jacked-up, homosexual superhero ever concieved!! That said, The Comedian, Rorsheck, and Silk Spectre 2 an Night Owl 2 were what saved this film from being total crap 2 me. Sure the action an the FX were fantastic, but Manhattan sucks...who wants to see a big, naked blue dude's junk....nevermind. *ahem* Anyway, if Silk Spectre were to become a giantess w/ ultra-powers, that'd be more my cup o tea.^_^

  • dude if all you saw about dr. manhattan was his blue dick, you got some real problems.

dr manhattan started with a costume, but over the years he lost his costume because he was losing touch of his humanity. you know why? because he is like a god, u didnt notice that?? its one of the main points of the story!! hes a walking nuclear deterent employed by the US, u didnt see that??

and saying "i wanna see silk spectre as a giantess" doesnt help hiding the fact that you could be gay. LOL

  • Oh brother...I watched the movie-twice. The entire story behind Dr Manhattan is garbage! How come Adrian, the "worlds smartest man"couldn't recreate what happened to Dr,M? How come Dr.Mkilled my favorite character in the end? How come DC keep making these god-like superheroes who have no hope of competition cause their too jacked up? I liked the Hulk better than this, at least he had to fight someone that could've killed him. Whos gunna stop something rediculously jacked up like DR.M? BORING!!

  • its geeky but ive seen the movie about 10x now and read the novel hundreds of times. hulk is better?? hulk is originally the combination of frankenstein and jeckyl and hyde. sure yeah watchmen was originally recycled characters from another series, but alan moore recreated them and turned them into these amazing original characters. watchmen redefined comics for christs sake. and did i mention alan moore created watchmen?

  • i agree. plus hulk was one of the worst movies i have ever seen anyway and watchmen is up there with the best films i have seen

  • wait the first hulk or second hulk? cause the second one was great. the first one blew ass. and i agree with you. the watchmen is up there with my favorites too.

  • 2nd one of course. I like the watchmen-but I expected more. I like my heroes to be all about the action and less on Philosophy. I read a lil bit of the novel which was why I hated Dr. Manhattan from the start. The movie really did bring the Comedian to life! In my opinion, what good is a Super Hero if they have no equal? Imagine DBZ if all Goku had to fight were "normal" ppl? (I'm talkin bout the series-not the movie)Thats what you get w/ Dr. M. No one to challenge his power=boring superhero.

  • IDK if U say "I could B gay" If you look at my channel, you'll see why I would have paid top dollar to see a 50ft Silk Spectre. Its always the 1st ones to suggest one 2 B gay who R covering their blatant homosexuality.I was jes bashing another I was jus bashing DR.M cause I hate God-like superheroes who can't be stopped*cough*Superman*cough*..I'm straight as a broadsword...R U the schimitar? lolz

  • dude im saying is if you hate dr manhattan coz hes "indestructible" im think who dont get the plot of the novel/movie. and his story wasnt garbage. adrian couldnt recreate what happened to jon because that would kill him, what happened to dr. m was an accident. adrian was however able to replicate his powers. rorschach was killed because he will not change his principles and stay silent. and cmon his character was made to contrast the fact that most of the costumed heroes dont posses any powers.

  • Cool. I respect you opinion. But I like my superheroes to have a lil less sizzle, an alot more steak, kno what i mean? Rorschach FTW. I think heroes w/ god-like powers should battle other god-like villians or anti-heroes, but your right, the morals behind the Dr.M story is way over my head, I related more to the Comedian and Rorsheck, their personalities were contageous.

  • lol hell yeah. the comedian is the only one who saw how the world really is. and Rorsheck is the person who never let anyone have slack. incredible movie i dont really think i want to read the graghic novel cause it might take away what i already love about the movie.

  • plus i read a review in rottentomatoes that says watchmen was bad because of dr m's overpowered and all he saw was his dick, turns out he was gay. LOL some people fail to the complexity of the characters and how cryptic they are.

  • i agree with Reyknow, would be better without his junk every 20 seconds

  • actually my point is it doesnt matter if theres nudity or not. his nudity is actually somewhat part of the story. he started with a costume, then progressively got rid of it because he was losing touch with his humanity.

some people complain that this movie has too much gore, sex scenes, and nudity. i disagree, i dont care much for it, why doesnt the audience pay attention to the story and not his junk?

  • Smashing Pumpkins theme on trailer.

Smashing Pumpkinds theme not on cd soundtrack!!!

  • I really could give a fuck less what some snoty mother fucker says so ill tell the truth this movie made no sence at all just maybe a little at the end witch happened to be my favorite part. Qustion Who's going to save us from shitty C class movies? One thing for shore This movie has definitely sucked it's own weight in ass.

  • i wasn't expecting to like this movie when i seen it, but for some reason i really enjoyed this movie.... really enjoyed it!

i don't know why this movie didn't make sence to Chosenbabyfrom1980, i felt it was obvious and straight to the point. I love the characters in this movie. I really was expecting it to be a bad superhero movie but it wasn't. I'll be buying this DvD

  • First of all it seemed most of the movie was the heros turning on eachother only captain blue balls was the only one who had any powers lets not forget night owl who looked like some hippy from the 70s or right out of a stephen king movie, than you head the psychotic ink block who was more of a threat than the people in person, narrated the whole time. than you had the retarted looking thing they fly in and nut case who belivied he was a fuckin pharoah, Stripperella, and a rapeist. great movie

  • lets see u make a better a movie

  • no one here though it was strange when half of the worlds major cities got destoryed??!!?!? no one seemed to care in the movie in fact they looked happy!

  • hummm sk8likeno1else all i can say is watch it again. I think u miss the whole 20mins of the movie

  • Honstly i don't understand why Morcridx1 doesn't realize everyone is entitled to there own opinion? Hmmm must be a false sense arrogances or something? Anyway the only thing that abortion went stright to was my garbage.

  • Well niteowl looks like a copy of batman in appereance

  • This movie was incredible.

It took two views to fully understand this.

  • what's this song?

  • the beginning is the end is the beginning by smashing pumpkins

  • the fknarsenic guy already wrote it.

  • Comment removed

  • looks badass

  • its awesome (:

  • I never read the graphic novel...but I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!!!! 5/5 stars and two thumbs up for me.

  • all you had to say was "i loved the movie" and we would have known you didnt read the novel

  • actually i picked up the graphic novel a week ago. Its nice and all....lots of stuff they didnt include in the movie but what i didnt like was the ending....wow....thank god Zack Snyder choose a different ending.

  • the ending in the movie kinda made it harder to understand why the comedian acted the way he did before death though

like the whole monster thing was a joke but Manhattan launching an attack(even though I liked it better too) didnt fit as well

  • Unfortunatly, i was dissapointed by this movie. This movie was so unessissarly violent and the violence replaced a lot of character development in the story! The messege is still there, but very watered-down.

If you liked this film you will LOVE the graphic novel!

  • this is my favorite movie ever made it has the most amazing scenes and camera work and not to mention story

  • Next time do research on something before shooting your mouth off and make yourself look like a dumbass SimMaestro.

  • Zack Snyder the director of 300 done watchmen he said that he had whanted to do this movie for a very long time so dont blame the move blame alan moore you pepol think that it was a terebel movie

so be it becuse Zacl Snyder he whanted to show the comic as it was whriten.

  • I think he should've changed the ending. It's amazing in the book, but it doesn't make a lot of sense until you flip back a few pages and figure it out. I mean a giant squid comes out of nowhere. Besides, the book is like, 6 hours long. Try making that into a movie? No.

  • First of all it's Dr. Manhattan. Second, this is 2009. I would think we would have evolved and matured enough so that we're not bothered by a penis.

  • 100% agree. To many immature laughing teenagers in the theater when I saw this movie. This movie blew me away. Literally changed my views on life.

  • Not a flaccid one, anyway,

  • haha...

nghianguyen2 I didn't particularly enjoy the movie but yours is the dumbest comment I've ever heard

  • like turning oxygen to gold, a therodynamic miracle

  • I suggest everyone here pick up "watchmen and philosophy".

  • it does for Adrian, it doesn't for Rorschach. maybe the real message is that everybody's got a different idea what the world needs and nobody's really got the power to fix it.

or maybe the message from alan moore is: buy my comic! support my snake habit!

  • couldn't have said it better myself.

  • Hmm i doubt alan moore thinks that, he didnt even wanted a movie to be made, but they pushed him til he agreed, so yeah, and well the message it depends in each person :) but i really felt it was more like Good and Evil is perception, And that humans arent different from each others, every body has flaws, the power in their hands dosnt correct their errors, such as Doc Manhattan :o

  • Alan Moore never agreed to let the film be made, he gave the decision to Dave Gibbons, the artist from the novel....Moore wanted nothing to do with either this or V for Vendetta, where he left the decision to the artist of V as well...

  • i think john just doesn't know ... like he said ... he can only see his own future ... when he is in another galaxy he will not see that the world will find out ... what means ... rorschach owned them all ...

  • Oh my god! Smashing pumpkins! WOOHOO

  • that's cause you're a fucking idiot

  • @mingy47333 - You won't see any genitals during the sex scenes, so don't worry.

In fact, the only full frontal nudity in the entire movie involves Doctor Manhattan(the blue guy) whos penis is actually very understated, like a greek statue. And you'd have to be incredibly immature to be offended by it.

I will say this though, it's an extremely violent movie, and you probably shouldn't watch it if you or your dad are squeamish at all.

  • ok thanks

  • Mingy, if you want to know what sort of mature content is in it, go to IMDb. com, search for Watchmen, and read the parental advice section. Reading the comic will give you a good idea of the type of stuff in there, too.

  • alright thanks

  • He had to. Rorchach can't compromise, and he was going to blow Adrian's plan, which would have eventually caused the world to sink into complete chaos and probably would have destroyed humanity. Jon had no other choice.

  • *spoiler alert*

hey im just wondering you know the way his journal goes to the news station dose that mean the world then knows that it was all planned by adrian ?

  • well, it never shows for sure, but I think that could be implied, and that's probably what happens eventually. But as far as Jon knows, the world will not find out.

Even if he did know with his expanded sense of time, he wouldn't act to change it. Remember his conversation with Laurie on Mars? He predicted she would tell him she was sleeping with Dan, but then he acted surprised when she told him.

  • cool thanks =D

  • Comment removed

  • Rorschach was John F Kennedy and he had to die, he was the only one who would speak the truth.

  • Bullshit, it is a liberal message that says the ends justify the means.

  • I always thought that was a facist message

  • indeed that is a facist message

  • cool story bro

  • dude what the fuck you are reading way too far into this........its a goddamn superhero movie

  • The Watchmen was a graphic novel way before it was a movie. You would have a lot of the question you are asking are mostly answered in the book and movie. It has nothing to do with the satan god of zionista or whatever crap you just said.

Trust me and pick up the book at your local Barnes and Nobles, Borderes, Waldens, or whatever book establishment that is in your area to know the truth about what this book truly stands for.

  • i can live with that

  • By the way, A little slow motion would be ok....

Zack Snyder filming style? maybe, if the entire movie is just like that, i think will be boring....

  • Comment removed

  • I'm actually kinda glad that Zack Snyder didn't use the squid. An atomic explosion would serve the plot just fine. pLus, withou tales of the black freighter, the squid would seem lacking.

  • yeah that's what i thought, in movie form framing Dr. Manhatten was the best choice

  • what is the song they use?

  • "the beginning is the end is the beginning" by the smashing pumpkins. great tune it was on the batman and robin sound track originally.

  • i remember a bunch of scenes in the trailer that were in the comic. SICK!

  • is it bright where you are?

  • watch close enough

and you can see what people are thinking about

  • Ha! Good luck Snyder. If you fuck this up, you'll probably end up like Salman Rushdie heehee. Worried about Peter Berg's new take on Dune too. If he fucks that up, it'll probably never get attempted again! Time will tell...

  • i hope they make it jus as good as batman or better which wuld be hard to top. i also hope people don't try to be rorschach and whore his figure out like the joker

  • wtf? did i say i have whole collection or anything like that? no, im just saying that i hope they make it better, think before u jump into things jiraiya718
