i own vista and xp i used both of them and the only thing that bothers me is if u go to task bar and go to performance on vista with out any program or any thing running even the theme is off it still uses more ram than xp with theme on and steam on for some reason idk why vista just more ram usage for no reason which causes lag in most games and programs
XP SP2 is out of support already. XP SP3 is out of support in less then three users. Also, I have a collection of 20 rogue antiviruses. Only 5 loaded properly on Vista. All 20 loaded on XP.. so there you go XP fanboys... have fun with the OS that looks like UEFI and BIOS now

It wasn't the hardware ( asus pc). Vista crashed because I pressed ctrl+alt+delete.
Start up time: 35 seconds to desktop...Shutdown:20 seconds for my PC...So opening and shutting down comes down to how good of a pc you,if you have a crap pc it will be slow of course...ctrl+alt+delete I won't even comment on how dumb that sounds,you're pc is a piece of shit man,time to get some ram,new processor and video card..It's 2010 not 1995..
Let's put it this way then,it's not vista..It's a hardware issue,don't blame an OS over faulty merchandise..I work on computers and ctrlaltdlt will never crash a computer EVER on ANY OS..Check if you can get your computer replaced because you got a dud if that happens when you push those 3 together..Can't bring it to a tech and say vista keeps crashing when I hit these buttons the guy is going to laugh and tell you to buy another piece of hardware..

windows vista is a unfinished rushed out buggy as hell operating sytem but it paved the way for windows 7 so it has my respect for that xp was an awsome os but its geting old now and needs to die but i think it will stay around for a while. i work for an it company and we still get the odd win 98 boxes so xp will be arond for some time yet

There is a bigger point of debate.... and it boils down to this: There is NO bad software, just bad users. I download alot, so my vista got viruses... I've seen XP computers completely taken over by rogue A/V's and by hijackers, and the only way to clear some of those is to reformat the hard drive... Vista is alot better than Windows 7 right now

I don't even have Antivirus on my pc, because its slow and a pain in the ass, however after more then a year of Vista Ultimate 64Bit running, no issues what so ever.
Seven is Faster, Windows XP uses less resources, however if you have the right computer hardware and know how vista ultimate can be as fast as seven and use only a small amount more resources then 7.

True facts. Vista is also faster than XP if the machine is recent. People that have tried it and say it sucks are those that have computers that are too old or tried it right when it got out.
Anyway, other true facts are about boot times, yes, XP took 3 minutes to load on my computer, then after installing Vista it took 35 seconds, and Vista is twice the sped xp ever was.
Vista will stay on my desktop until the desktop dies, but I've already installed Win 7 on the laptop, which is improved!

Actually, I've owned vista before, but I quickly downgraded to XP because:
1. Vista erased all my data and would not transfer any old files.
2 It's just XP with a glassy theme.

windows vista is a unfinished rushed out buggy as hell operating sytem but it paved the way for windows 7 so it has my respect for that xp was an awsome os but its geting old now and needs to die but i think it will stay around for a while. i work for an it company and we still get the odd win 98 boxes so xp will be arond for some time yet

So, although I didn't test the 7s in gaming, I guess they would be ok. I have the direct-x 11 now by the 7s installation, everything is looking fine. I observed few incompatibilities with some old programs in 7s, but this is solved when you get the new edition of the program. As a result I would suggest XPs and 7s.

I have tested the 3 OSes in the same machine. XP is good, and keeps high compatibility and speed in games. Vista was slower, has some problems like removable media, disk defragment is slow, program installations and uninstallations are also slow. Getting upgrades makes the system heavier. 7s are very good. They are almost fast as XPs, just do the proper cleaning, registry cleaning and disk defragment. Removable media, program install / uninstall are more than ok, they are very nice for daily use

There is a bigger point of debate.... and it boils down to this: There is NO bad software, just bad users. I download alot, so my vista got viruses... I've seen XP computers completely taken over by rogue A/V's and by hijackers, and the only way to clear some of those is to reformat the hard drive... Vista is alot better than Windows 7 right now

Ha, This does have some decent truth to it at last.
I don't even have Antivirus on my pc, because its slow and a pain in the ass, however after more then a year of Vista Ultimate 64Bit running, no issues what so ever.
Seven is Faster, Windows XP uses less resources, however if you have the right computer hardware and know how vista ultimate can be as fast as seven and use only a small amount more resources then 7.
7 and Vista are simular OS, and Vista SP2runs well. 7 is for slower pc's.

not true about vista being more secure than os x, researchers found 26 vulnerabilities in OS X 10.5 in 2008, and in Windows Vista 27. I have used and owned windows xp, vista, 7 and OS X Leopard (10.5) and here is what I would rate them:
Best: Leopard
2nd to best: 7

I must say honestlly I did not have any big probs with my vista that I used almost 6 months, but man that was slow after I put my progs on it. Simplly got buged. Windows 7 is my solution to this cause my PC hasn't got drivers for XP.

I know a few technicians,they admit to telling fibs to customers to make extra money...Sad but true...So yes in the end I still blame the user, technicians make money off people who know nothing on computers and bullshit to fix the price..It's all about money for the technician,not for care on the OS or it's up and downs. Oh did I ever mention most of the computers being fixed in the world are loaded with xp..only a tiny percentage of Vista users need help.

All windows can get the same virus. Just because you didn't get a virus on vista doesn't mean it's better. I bet if you did the exact same shit you do on xp that you did on your vista, it would be the same result. All windows operating systems get the same viruses, it all depends on what you do and what anti-malware program you have. All windows operating systems suck other then Windows 7. True facts. Vista is also faster than XP if the machine is recent. People that have tried it and say it sucks are those that have computers that are too old or tried it right when it got out.
Anyway, other true facts are about boot times, yes, XP took 3 minutes to load on my computer, then after installing Vista it took 35 seconds, and Vista is twice the sped xp ever was.
Vista will stay on my desktop until the desktop dies, but I've already installed Win 7 on the laptop, which is improved!
