  • Tor has an awesome shirt.... i want it.

  • the irony - google demos on apple operating system

  • @lmpi16 Where is the irony ?

    Bell Labs made UNIX

    BSD is UNIX like

Mac is from a BSD kernel

  • good

  • Baby's things.

  • ok..thanks

  • nice

  • 0:37:40 :) you should be able to..

  • fuck, why the hell they emulate smartphones processors?

  • 我正在學習

    android

  • How can I install this tool in my eclipse?

  • I always thought all the XML was just hardcoded piece of.. that couldn't have any use on anything visual, this video has proven me wrong. Thanks Google!

  • I am trying to develop an application on eciplise and i find it very hard. to lay out the menu.

  • @QwolfChannel The UI editor sucks ... I still use plain xml to create my UI for android.

  • @patiencebear I am not every good with the XML is there a website that can show me

  • @QwolfChannel I used the book "Android User Interface Development: Beginner’s Guide" to get the basics right.

  • Where can I find the source code of the app at 0:07:20 ??

  • Thanks to Xavier and Tor for demonstrating this. It is a very fact intensive topic and the developer will have to put down some effort grasping things. But the video format is great for replaying stuff.

  • Roh j'comprends moins le mec avec l'accent français que l'autre xD

  • When will Android get an interface builder comprable to the iOS the one that comes with Eclipse is utter !@!@#... That is the biggest thing holding back android. When it takes an hour to layout something as simple to do in 5 minutes on iOS you know its horribly broken..

  • @Vlaxiti oh..totally france. IDIOT. Before you open your foul mouth, investigate your head and see whether ur brain is there. How do you speak france, duh?!

  • Comment removed

  • @Vlaxiti oh...i bet he doesnt like your grammar either, and neither do I. So the feeling is mutual, biatch.

  • nice job

  • he looks gay

  • @edikii I'm not a gay and wanna tell you smth....When you invite your friends to your house, does your mother come and say to everybody: Hi, I think my son is retarded, he has no job or a girlfriend, yesterday I caught him watching porno?

They are developers and you are only consumer (95%) so keep your expressions.

  • @ZyQux Wow that sounds like a bad dream....Could you imagine that!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @edikii how does sexual orientation matter in knowledge delivery? i guess it doesnt. to humans at least...i dont know with birds like you.

  • They're using an os created by apple and yet they're trying to compete with them LOL

  • @MrJoso101

selection of a personal laptop is a matter of taste. notice that Xavier uses Linux on a ThinkPad. Does it matter whether Tor has a Mac? I really don't think so. Besides, many good developers have multiple notebooks, so there's nothing wrong with getting a Mac and using it to develop Android. Google competes with Microsoft too, so what, they can't use Windows anymore?

  • SDK 14 has it beautiful feature?

  • too fast speaking, not funny explanation. this is not the worst lesson i have ever heard.

  • Great job guys!

  • Okay so now it's almost october...where are the emulator enhancements?

  • @theverylittleone I'm glad you've demonstrated that you know absolutely nothing about technology and the problems associated with making the emulator high performance.

  • I can't really describe how excited I am about the new tools that are being developed for Android

  • Why is the audio skipping?

  • what key shortcut do they use to open the search dialog?

  • Wish I could understand the french dude... very frustrating...

  • I've been working thru the talks from I/O 2011 and this one has to be one of the MOST USEFUL. My thanks to Xavier and Tor.

  • where can i buy the guy's shirt at @34:07? thanks!

  • Many thanks for creating this!! Really a time saver!!

  • LMAO. I have 20 tabs open and didn't know where the sound's coming from. Turns out to be this video.

  • @corianderthal 20?!?!?! You must have lots of RAM

  • @jehcrazyjehcmy Only 4GB for my e-mail/browsing computer. Checked Task Manager and Opera uses around only 1GB with 20+ tabs open. lol, right now I have about 50 actually. Nothing a modern computer can't handle really.

  • what langauge is this guy speaking ?

  • Comment removed

  • @Marrttttt 1984 MAC computer LOL ,this apple idiot got.

  • Way Kool! :-)

  • Lame audience and slow to react... I'd be all excited about this features...

  • got a big problem mwith scrollview when using this tools... it cant scroll down to see the elements below

  • Are there any chances that they will release a standalone UI editor which does not rely on Eclipse?

  • @aevndael I would have to second that. I seriously dislike Eclipse (it's too slow), I would love to do all of my coding in fast and awesome editors such as XCode or Textmate.

  • @ConnorAlves Do you use a 20 year old computer or something?

  • @Maarttttt Have you ever used an application that's NOT written in Java? There's a difference, regardless of how old your computer is.

  • I cant understend him... WTF!!

  • Please, Google, introduce Qt Libraries in Android... A lot of apps will be ported and let's be sincere, Qt Framework is a lot more better. Android might receive some very good UI love with QtQuick/QML...

Qt Lighthouse only needs the libraries on the Android, the rest of the job it will do himself...

  • Google should do a web transfer. For Contacts,Google contacts, accounts, file transfer, android system updates and update apps and phone tracker for lost android phones and web messaging sms to tablet and phones (for android only).

  • The new emulator might even be too good. Imagine people playing games on the emulator :). They might have to open up the market so that people can buy and use our apps without a phone :)

  • The presenter is very difficult to understand....

  • Okay, I love Android, am impressed with Google, but please, give your staff some training on effective presentations!!! This presentation irritates the hell out of me: first of all, the speaker can't stand still AT ALL...secondly, he has to work on his pronunciation and tempo ... with such an accent, you should speak slower.

    Apart from that, good stuff

  • @MrFreemiel He s french..

  • @einc70 no shit :-)

The accent itself doesn't bother me as much, but it's the way he talks and moves...very irritating to look at and listen too... he should take a course on "Effective Presentations" (IBM used to have such a course...it was brilliant...videotaped you while presenting...damn confronting, but teaches you how to present something without irritating your audience :-) )

  • @MrFreemiel i can see how ineffective this can be....

  • @MrFreemiel I like the way he moves :)

  • Almost everything shown in the video is available in ADT version 11, which has been released (you can find it at developer.android.com/sdk/eclipse-adt.html ).

The new relative layout support is in ADT 12, which has not yet been released, but a milestone build is available. See tools.android.com/recent/ and tools.android.com/download/ .

  • Where can i get this program from? Is it free tell me please.

  • Where do i get it from to download im stupid on this so i need details.

  • Oh So good. but time is money. Ready or not?

  • Oh Good. Quich launched asap.

  • when will be available? i mean that layout WYSIWYG editor?

  • when will this "list preview" feature be unlocked?

  • @somegoodboy That feature requires *both* ADT version 11 *and* the new layout library, which has not yet been officially released, but you can download and install preview versions from tools.android.com/download/

  • IsItInEditMode() - bad archeticture. you should use attribues with method override. stupid google

  • 49:38 For QMU?

  • Thanks!!! I downloading it now! Thanks for the great tools!

  • 07:20 hooray and thanks! :-)

  • I like the Honeycomb app layout ui than 2.3 gingerbread.

  • Hiring Tor was such a boon for Android developers... this new UI builder is just wonderful.

  • how to get all those themes ?

  • i tried to download from tools.android.com/download/ and followed the steps but it says a new version is already installed and let me guess the new version is just nothing like the one running in the video above ? Can anyone help me out ?

  • Looks awesome!

  • MZ

  • We've just posted a preview build of ADT 11 at tools.android.com/download/

  • @tnorbye: Is V11 = ADT11 = r15? Because all I find for windows is the r15 release, is r15 is what this lecture talking about? I tried to update from within Eclipse and I tried to download and install the r15, both of course same results. If the V11 is different, where can I find it? I appreciate it, thanks. [Also thanks to all who contributed, great Job, Great Work].

  • Donde puedo conseguir el WYSIWYG???

  • quick question: anyone know when it will be available?

  • @dt9394 V11 update is now available for download through Eclipse.

  • @dt9394 v11 is now downloadable through Eclipse.

  • @dt9394 today!

  • @dt9394 its available now :)

  • @dt9394 its available now :)

  • @dt9394 now =) update eclipse and adt

  • @dt9394 They're available right now from tools.android.com and they're working on full releases but right now they're usable.

  • Great Work guys!

  • Just saw the new UI tools... OMG

The most frustrating part of Android development solved -- even made enjoyable? It's so beautiful....

  • @catapult37 Do you where I can download it? or where to find it? Isn't it by default with the ADT for Eclipse?

  • Awesome work..one of the best: Layouts to next level.. Relative Layout..

  • hmm...u use Mac for all ur needs, still bash apple. Thats not fair!. BTW, i m referring to keynote.

  • Nice, but it seems that for apps that uses Google API the tool is not working, there's no theme availables on the tool.

  • nice work guys :) awesome features ...

  • these guys are awesome..

  • where's the video of memory management for android apps?

  • @adityawi follow dubroy on twitter. he will post the video/slides soon

  • When are these going to be released?

  • @theoriginalmvrck they will be released next week i suppose..

  • Great stuff

  • Great to hear that the emulator is being fixed. Whilst it's cool that 5000 Android developers got a brand spanking new Samsung 10.1 to code on, the rest of us won't have enough willpower to continue development with the emulator in its current state.

  • great job guys

  • UI/Layout toolkit at 7:15

  • Very exciting stuff guys!!! Keep up the great work!

  • You guys rocked it today!
