  • Great job! I was wondering where did you get the parts until I saw the pictures. I was searching for a video like this, where the process is shown so I can learn how to do it by myself. Thank you!

  • you are an excellent fabricator. how did you make the fork;s and the frame?

the wheel's are really nice did you make them too?

    overall,,, really nice work.

would ask you if you would do another on a special basis

but I know this in one and only.

  • IIIII Wannnt one

  • best. bike. ever. could i buy that from you?

  • sorry, but if there was ever a bike made that required a helmet, this one is it!

  • @Darthbelal I always ride mine wearing my helmet. I've been told I have a thick head, but I don't want to prove anybody right or wrong on that!

  • This bike is a work of art.....

  • i will laugh so hard if these replace fixie's

  • Aaaaaaaaaaawesome. This bike is so elegant s2

  • Very nice job. Perfect craftsmanship!

I also started building; finished the front hub (flanges+axle). I soon will be starting with the fron rim, but in order to start, I need the rubber. Please be so kind to inform me the type- and dimension of the rubber.

    Thanks,

    Bas

  • Thumbs up if you like Penny Farthings and Tin Snails.

  • Do you sell the bicycles you make? If so, how much?

  • I just fell in love with these! A friend let me borrow one of his for some filming, and I've had it out nearly every morning since then for a short ride through my neighborhood. I don't want to give it back! I particularly admire that you BUILT your own Penny Farthing. You did such a beautiful job!

  • Well done. How long did that take ah!

  • upeaa menoa...ja musikki on just sopivaa

  • Why didn't the designer of the penny farthing make the seat lower and the pedals more in front than below you? - like a recumbent bith a big ass front wheel. It would be safer under braking, have better weight distribution and be easier to get on and off.

  • @TimpBizkit. Seat is close to bars cause you would like turn. If seat would be more on back front wheel would touch on your legs while turning. Believe me, they did think also back then. -Olli

  • @AzuSuper I did start to think about that a little while after I wrote the comment - the turning circle would suck and the wheel would rub abainst your inner thigh. I guess you could add a rack to the back wheel if you were carrying luggage and that would weight it down, or have the back wheel slightly further back if you wanted to avoid unnecessarry weight.

  • @AzuSuper nevertheless that was an interesting question :)

  • It has solid rubber tires ;)

  • Finding a puncture in that tube would take a while! Great wheels.

  • SUPER

  • Beaufitul machine,congratulations.

  • Makee peli, tolla kelpaa kruisaa ostarilla

  • love it

the tunes really make it cool

  • Fantastic Olli, thanks for showing us

  • A great vehicle to take a header!

  • such a beautiful penny farthing! Thanks so much for sharing

  • can you please tell me how you made your rim?

  • Beautiful piece of artwork.

  • im making one too so far i only have the pedals :-(

  • Congratulations. Welcome to Hungary.

Beautiful is the bicycle. Pretty demanding job. My hobby is my motorcycle restoration.

But I liked this bike and I want to make one of those. Only the first metal tire problem. Solid rubber is available. Can you help me how to make the metal tire? Thanks

  • that handle bar is as brutal as it is metal. metaphoricly and literally

  • Niiiice. Made me smile just to watch you ride.

  • can't believe you built that yourself! super-cool :D looks great.

  • This is a beautiful piece of art! Wow.

  • You what other type of bikes are dangerous? Fixed geared bikes! Just ask any fixie. Because they invented the brake for a reason.

  • How do you make the Big Tire?.

    Its Solid Rubber

or Balloon Tire kind like every common bike wheel?.

A friend of mine, told me that is Possible tu Vulcanize 2 Ordinary Bike Tires and vulcanize the inner Tubes.

And Bend and weld two ordinary rims, in order to make a big rim.

Please if you can tell me more about how do you make your wheel I`ll be greatful.

    Thanks in Advance

  • Totally gorgeous. All the little details really make it an amazing cycle.

  • My compliments, absolutely everything about your penny farthing is beautiful, the workmanship, the design touches, and you motivation for making one. I even like the little stand you made for itbrilliant

  • tht's no dangerous to ride, i would like to ride one like this on the road

  • Please read history - find out why, before you show more of your own stupidity :)

  • Its easy to judge now, when you know better solutions. Its called evolution, again read that history and find out why.

  • Correct ..Evolution someone came up with a better Idea.

  • This was before the idea of gear ratios and modern pneumatic tires. It is like mocking the steam engine because they exploded, and didn't use gasoline which was invented yet.

  • @MihiLibertas Do you even know why it was designed that way? The large wheel allowed you to pedal less while going further. This was made before gearing systems were implemented in bicycles.

  • @MihiLibertas dude, people wanted to ride further with less effort, so bigger wheels were added. Gear systems weren't invented yet, so go figure.

  • WOW, that's amazing, congratulations! And you build it completely on your own?! Not bad, R.E.S.P.E.C.T.!! :-) Keep on riding, greetings from germany!

  • Just guessing that you had to make your own tires.

Could you show more detail on that?

    Nice bike!

  • That homemade Farthing is beautiful! Keep the tradition alive!

  • manual that bad boy.

  • can you send measurements and info on where to get the wheel thamnks amazing bike

  • mad fabrication skills :D nice one!

  • do a backflip inot a foam pit!!!!

  • fuck the foam pit

  • I am making an equal, queria ponermo in contact with you so that me you can pass some data over measures, I wait for your answer, thank you very much, I congratulate to you! very good work, greetings, LEO.--

  • You're an artist in the whole sense of the word!

    My respects!

  • Yep very ordinary nothing out of the usual here! hehe

    Beautiful build!

  • Your Bicycle is badass! Awesome video!

  • the head stock is different from the one i have seen.

Is it your own design?? i hope make my own, but with a smaller front wheel

any advice ???? thanks and well done.

  • Very nice job on your bike. Could I please ask what you used for a tire? It Looks like O-ring material? I am going to try and build one.

  • My mate Carly Salter of Colchester in essex. She is an interior designer in ingatestone. she would like your bike so much she said she would do anything for it!!!! And i mean anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi my Friend!

Xcuse me, I want to make this bike for me, but I surfed the WEb without results, do you have a plan o sketch for make It??.

    Thanks in Advance!

  • I want one of those but, and I'm being honest:

    Are they expensive?

Does the average person on the street react with hostility to you?

I'm not going to lie, I really want one but I fear that people here in Dublin might attack me

  • I made my own by my self so it was "cheap" for me. I think you can get some replicas around 3000euros. Its ok to drive whit this here in Finland, people are clad to see you, so on.. Just sometimes there is some a****les using car horn when they see you.

  • What is the size of the wheel?

  • its 52"

  • Okay. Cool!

  • Excellent work! You've done a really nice job on it. It looks great!

  • What a great job you did making this - I bet truing the wheel was a tricky task?

  • I just bought a penny-farthing, but have been to nervous to

try it, thanks for showing how to get on and off the bike!

    now I will try it!

  • Ah! Thanks so much - i needed to figure out the composition of these these because I'm drawing one for an art portfolio. I am ever grateful!

  • I really like your aork. It´s real art to me.

  • That's a stunning craftmanship! Absolutely beautiful? Who´s doing your surface finish like chrome and such? / Mark in Mid-Sweden

  • Thanks! I did finishing for nickel plating for my self.

  • what's the advantage of the larger wheel? max torque with minimal push?

  • Before chains (gear reduction) were invented they raise up speed whit large wheel.

  • moiii...hieno viteo,,samat on huvit meikeläiselläkin...

    eero.jiii

  • hieno video

  • @vitse87 On ja hieno on pyöräkin!
