I did it.....you can try this. Right click on the "Privacy Protection" icon on your desktop and choose "Properties". Go to "Shortcut" and click "Find Target". A window will appear showing the executable "Privacy Protection" file. DELETE this file. Please delete the Privacy Protection shortcut on your desktop as well. Go to Recycle Bin and delete both files which will delete them permanently. Restart you PC. Good Luck.
Holy smokes I think I can get rid of this. Uses the trojan killer to find it and just changed its name so that it can stop me from going on the net. Now I just have to uninstall it and the rootkit.
Somehow, it crashed on start up? Now I can open task manager, privacy.exe is in C:\ProgramData and j1Y7FB.dat hash.dat and ezsidmv.dat with ss.ini is in there... never seen them before. Did this come with privacy.exe?
@firefox7061 Just wanted to mention, I don't think so... hopefully. I downloaded it from CNet and it's pretty easy to uninstall. Also, you do have to pay for the version to remove it, but I checked on the Internet, and it showed how to uninstall it easily. Looked at difference sources and they mostly have the same procedure.
My eternal gratitude for this video. I was struggling with this for the past two hours until I found you video. It's gone and now I know how to get rid of it in the future. I appreciate the time it took to create this video. You do a great service. :)
198cvx...I love you...thanks a ton :) and yeah I got it twice in the same week too...but my first method didn't work the second time around so thanks!
You've really helped, it's good to see there are still people on Youtube who are helpful :) Thanks again!! I located the privacy.exe and got McAfee to shred the biatch!!
Easier way: You can switch compatability mode for that particular malware virus to an earlier version(windows 95) which it was not designed for thus stopping its ability in some cases to start up on login. Once you stop it from being able to start on log in it can no longer auto close task manager, the internet or stop deletion of its files due to being already open. Hope this helps.
It installs and setsso that it starts at boot 1more method 2 get 2 the task manager quickly is to press Ctrl+Shift+esc Sometmes if u press Ctrl+Alt+Del it goes to a weird prompt with some other things Anyways, it hides itself in the hidden folder, Application Data
DoCtrl+Shift+esc a secondorso after you log on
Stop privacy.exe in processes tab
Go to My Comp
Need to be able to see hidden folders, click onTools,FolderOptions,View tab, Show H-F-F.
OpenC:-Docs+Set-AllUsrs-App Data Delete privacy.exe
well, you could go to %appdata%, find the "protection.exe" in one of the files that are gibberish (liliads or something like that), then change ".exe" part to ".jar", log out, log back in. get it and delete it. (remember .exe= launches the virus. while .jar= can't do shit)
i dont know what to do this virus deleted every shortcut and way possile to delete it all programs are gone, i cant run .exe files i cant do shit cause of it when i try to do a system restore it shutdowns the installwizard WTF do i do?!?!?
@818Harut u should see it on desktop when it infects u but if not goto start menu type in privacy protection and well right click and select open file location......and so on
Also, there are other videos out there that try to get you to download their program..DON'T DO IT! They scan your computer for you, but guess what..they want you to purchase to fix the problems. Malwarebytes is FREE...and WORKS!
All you need to do is go to Safe Mode and download the Malwarebytes removal program. I also downloaded a nortons antivirus and the nasty ProtectP virus was GONE! Nothing else worked, I tried this method in your video, but it was too complicated, plus when I tried to open the file, it blocked me from doing that. Just get Malwarebytes in safe mode, back it up with a nortons or another strong antivirus program..it will be gone.
@11Skies11Fates That's exactly what I did, then I opened up "msconfig" to make sure it doesn't turn back on at startup and found the location of the virus and deleted it manually.
Thanks :D

i have and easy no brainer method i usually use cause i got this virus twice in just a week
when the virus pops up look for the shortcut on desktop, then right click and click on open file location
you should see privacy protection right on the list
now drag it onto the desktop(if you try to delete it wont allow you cause the program is opened)
now restart computer and the moment you log back onto computer quickly drag privacy protection into recycle
go to recycle bin and delete :)

I can't go to that website on the my computer part. What the hell
funnynesslol 4 months ago
@funnynesslol What I did is Ctrl+alt+Del for task manager..
Task manager should close itself, just spam it, try to click processes.
Next time you open it it should be on the processes tab, look for "Privacy.exe"
Click on it reall fast and press Del and Enter.
Now you should be free from the virus, but you still have it, it's just not activated.
