These are the oldest terminal input styles, decades before shielded coxial cable was common. The later cable company signals needed coaxial shielding to preserve signal quailty over long distances.
@pannoni1 Actually, HDTV was invented in Japan in the early 1970s. The earliest article on Google's News Archive about it's prospects was in the March 12, 1981 issue of the Toledo News-Blade. It's almost as old as the Internet when you think about it.
