The word 'allah' cannot be translated. You can translate hand/leg/hair, but you cannot translate the word 'allah' because it is not a regular noun especially when used in the context of non-muslims.

Ask any muslim to translate 'They know god is a pig' into arabic and you will not see the word 'allah' in replacement of that word 'god'. Instead you will see the word 'ilah'. This is clear evidence that non-muslims have been fooled to believe that 'allah' is the arabic noun for the word - 'god'.

2. The GROUNDS for the command were not religious but moral. The Quranic jihad kills for a persons belief, not because of his or her immoral behaviour.

3. The SCOPE of killing for the Israelites was for a specific group of people (the Canaanites) at a specific time in history (in Joshua's day). In comparison, Jihad is for killing ALL unbelievers (infidels) at any time.

So, they are basically saying the same thing, the Islamic version just simplifies the message. As to your argument about the people being guilty, were the unborn children also guilty, and were the wives of the guilty men, in turn guilty. I'm no God, heck, I'm not even a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure they are not.

The Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, Maya, Aztec, etc. Why did God only punish the Canaanites for a polytheistic, sacrificial religion when the number of monotheistic religions was greatly outnumbered at the time. And to widen the debate, if God created Earth, why did he not seem to know of the American continents? I have seen no reference to them in the Bible. And I don't mean a vague reference, either.

There has always been evil going on wherever man has lived, but the books of the Bible chronicles a specific peoples' history, and thus their books focus on their saga.

Also, God has punished people and nations everywhere, in every period of history.

He seems to mask his punishments that you speak of with logical and non-miraculous, completely real catastrophes. He made us, so you say, so why should he punish humans at all.
