I wonder if he'll disguise his British accent? Mind you it only seems fair as we have an American actress playing Margaret Thatcher. This transposition seems to be Happening more often, e.g, American character Dr House is played by Brit Hugh Laurie.
@jiopa I agree, the studio also knows that hiring a certain actor carries it's own set of risks, the actors nationality is sometimes one of those considerations. Cavil, although British ticks a lot of the other boxes that suit him for Superman. I can imagine some people being disappointed he's not an American playing the hero fighting for truth, justice and the American way! You and I can see past such confines. I'm looking forward to the film, I just hope Snyder doesn't screw up.

I agree, the red underwear made no sense and was ridiculous. This new outfit looks like something the LGM from Area 51 would have worn. First of all, this is the first actor to play the role that I can really believe physically is Superman! The suit however, NO. Some change and updating is good and needed; but this just goes way too far. I think the upgraded texture of the costume is terrific. Much of the rest of the design just doesn't work. I think a more restrained approach using the best ideas from both the previous film and this would have been the way to go. This is a VERY iconic character; so you DON'T go TOO far!

Film goers and the like want to see, more or less, the classic icon. How likely are you to see this version of the costume in an animated feature (who's viewers figure to be more likely to accept change)? Batman (?)--does not quite have the iconic history that Supes does, is much more of an urban hero, etc.

We have this image of superman being 6'5 because of our image of Reeves playing him in the classic role. I love the look of this costume. What's not to like? It's a cooler updated version of the traditional costume..perfect. Henry Cavill is hot and has worked hard to achieve a great shape. I also think as an actor he will do superman proud. @theblaquebaastid I see your point but superman needed a different look. Keep in mind superman in the comics was average height. We have this image of superman being 6'5 because of our image of Reeves playing him in the classic role. They repeated it with the actor in superman returns(He is 6'4)and it proved people are bored with the look. I think the new look is amazing and modern. They are going with the way he is in the current comics which is a superman thats dark, edgy and bad ass.

I love the look of this costume. What's not to like? It's a cooler updated version of the traditional costume..perfect. Henry Cavill is hot and has worked hard to achieve a great shape. I also think as an actor he will do superman proud. In his previous roles he has shown emotional depth in his performances and surely you will all agree that finally we will have a superman with a masculine deep sexy voice and a killer smile. Gotta say hes got a good overall body shape about him. I admire that these newer incantations of superhero movies r changing slightly, in look and getting more serious tones. At same time does this always mean we need "reboots" all the while in order to do this and show they r trying to do it differently. I mean Returns I thought was cool, it kept traditional, but it built on things and left things open for a new direction.
