Big shout to you all from 88/89 - Those were the dayz - convoying together, from one rave to the next..Best choon played just as the sunrised.. Goosebumps! Love this tune!
there must be 7 deaf people, this man is the master!! if you were there in 88//89 you know what i am talking about. peace and love not crack and heroin.
I'm a real good actor, this is a heavy road, Our love's a script and you carry total control. Like a clown, I've been smiling, whenever people are around. But when the curtain comes down and the circus is through no one is left but me you and all my tears, so many tears, my tears . One word can wash them away, one word could take their place, tears.2) Regretting nothing but the pain, my heart, my life my world is filled with rain, I'm drowning, when the curtain comes down and the circus .
So much soul, this track was the bomb in Tdot underground house cyphers. At 17 years old, I watched and learned how to dance to house and we mashed it up for the next decade. This one had everybody moving all night long. I was a houser forever.
One of the most important pieces of music in my lifetime. Thanks to Leisha the sexy raver for introducing it to me back in the day. Pills, good friends, kicking clubs and fantastic music. What a fantastic time to be alive back then.
Thanks for every thing you gave to me, thanks for being my inspiration to do good, just wish you could be here for the clam after the storm, thanks for always being there for me.
So many tears. I've been hurting for so long. Wash them away! Thank you my sweet caring husband. I Love You! You have neva left my side!! You are amazing!!!
The Club Choice in the Village was the Shit when Robert used to throw down there. and not many people know but bobby Conders was a monster throwing down house music at the club Choice. great memories of sweatin all night. thx
....in the early 90's My boy took me over to Rob Owens apartment and I remember we went over to Rob's place in the east Village and got nice, damn - what memories those were the days....
When Junior would rock this back in the day at the Sound Factory [Well before his wack techno days] we would go nuts! This track represents the pure essence of house music. It takes me back to a time when house really was a a feeling and people came to the club to dance, sweat and love!
The sound Factory was large but the intimacy of the the Choice was the shit . Real underground spot in Delancy. Free fresh fruit fruit punch and no drugs. just sweat.
I am just speaking from my generation of listening to house music and i've watched it evolve since the late 80's....i started out listening to more tribal beats and gradually moved towards underground house with vocals ie. Chris Brann, Roland Clark,Kenny Bobien, Michael Proctor, Tortured Souls etc.
Frankie was the center of Chicago and Ny HOUSE back then...without question. This song is pure classic, the energy, the freedom, the spirit of house music was soooo alive back then...SOOOOO MANY TEARS....DRIPPIN AND DROPPIN AND DROPPIN AND DRIPPIN.. :)
The time Frankie Knuckles was recording TEARS he was already relocated back home to his original roots of NYC learn the hiostory. He returned back to NYC in 1987 and was flying back to The Chi to do his weekend D. J., set at the Warehouse so learn it from a KLUB MUSIC OFFICIANADO Ya Hurd and he was not the center Ron Hardy, Farley Funkin' Keith, Marshall Jefferson was the center because they werew from Chicago and the South Shore (South Side), of the Windy Windy I know my Family are the Burtons!
I never said Frankie was living in Chi-town when he recorded this...lol..I DO know my history, i know about all of the Dj's you just named. I will tell you this house music was born in Chi-town..but became LEGEND in NYC...
The name HOUSE did become a LEGEND here in the MID 80'S, but not the MUSIC we have been on the MUSICAL GENRE SINCE THE 70'S and the &70'S preceeded the MID 80'S Ya Hurd it's just the name Chicagoans CALLED it WE ACCEPTED FROM THE CHI SO DON'T GET IT TWISTED. We are saying the same MUSIC GENRE, BUT WITH A DIFFERENT NAME I KNOW I LIVED THIS MUSIC SINCE THE EARLY 60'S WHEN I WAS A CHILD and BEFORE I WAS BORN I HAD RELATIVES SINGING WITH THIS SOULFUL MSIC. I grew up hearing them and watching them.
Not just the name HOUSE became legend here in the 80/90's...but the music as well....of course the 'sound' resonated from the 70's that is the era of Larry Levan etc...who paved the way for artists of today. I am just speaking from my generation of listening to house music and i've watched it evolve since the late 80's....
Oh so true. To some it's lyrics & unusual music, but to us who have been touched it's our "Life blood". You simply just understand & embrace it with or without the need to dance. But when you do dance.....You're gone. Drowin' in all those tears. Drippin' & Droppin' INDEED. Long Live House!
This song means SOOOO much to me, I like to play Classic Soul Music, I am a radio show producer for a Gospel artist, and no matter how FAR I go into ANY music genre once I hear THIS song(TEARS), I get brought back to my ROOTS, back to a time that I found my LIFE, my SOUL and all the LOVES in my life, whenever I was down, I would play this song then get in a ZONE, I pick myself back up and LIVE again...
the innocents of this style of house will never come back. djays took too much control of the scene .they all went to progresive, forcing ever faster tracks, leaving no time for mellody. bastards.........
There dripping and dropping and dropping and dripping...Damn I close my eyes and bring me back to that special place and time!!!A true all-time classic
this song is virtually 20 years old and still sounds great. I can keep it in rotation and never get tired of it. The cadence takes me to an area of complete uninterrupted solace. wow, that's beautiful....excellent post
It's the state of mind. A force that takes you somewhere. I even imagine myself at times on the GWB at night in the quiet rain, driving & feeling this thing...called house. I love it. You're not alone.
sO u know what i'm talking about...i miss those nights when i would just spin and dance the night away...during my 'club hopping' days...man o man....lol
This was the voice of deep house back in the late 80's and early 90's. Deep house is too techy, if you know what I am saying. Even old school trance can't compare with today's garbage.
This song makes me miss the Paradise Garage.Omg I am praying house music makes a comeback, because the crpa that passes for music these days does not even compare to the classic house music sounds.I met Robert Owens after he gave a performance at the legendary paradise garage back in the 80's,he was nice and down to earth.Drop it Rob.Tears! Work it out son!
This didn't come out until two years after the Garage closed...post Loft even(pre Sound Factory/Twilo, pre Shelter). I heard Frankie himself play this at "the Choice", which was also the last "Loft" used by Dave, on E. 6th St.
@alkh3myst that s what im talkin about. nobody knows about the choice. free food and bobby conders or robert owens on the turn tables. thx . that was the most underground spot . no bangees. i remember ppl in sweat pants and slippers with hand towels to wipe the sweat. thank u for mentioning that spot. i was buggin that nobody went to the old loft.
@alkh3myst the choice . the shelter , and the greekfest. no one knows about this stuff on this site . thats the real deal. underground and trendy all the way. u know ur stuff .
i,ve said it in 89, and i,ll say it again in 2008 - ROBERT OWENS has the best vocal delivery in emotional content i have EVER heard. Man can this guy sing!
As for *TEARS*...well its gone down in house history as THE song EVERYONE SINGS out loud when its played!
"Regretting nothing but the pain, my heart, my life, my world is filled with pain, im drowning.....
An emotion im sure most of us have gone through at some stage in our lives!
truly goregusssssssssss vocals real house music and how old is this now 20yrs im glad i was around in 1988 true days of freedom and fun respect robert owens dropping and tripping
...Robert Owens Was BAD Back In The Day...He Had Some Bad Jams Being Played "UnderGround" But This Play On The Radio...Why In The World Aren't These Classics Available On iTunes...It's 2008 Already!!! Every Thing Else Is!!!
For those out there who still cease to understand & embrace the ATMOSPHERE of True House...ain't no need. No need for me to explain...it's pointless. Just listen, & let yourself be simply an individual. Be one with the music...or else just leave it alone. Leave it to me & others who truly know THIS, & what THIS Marriage with THIS music is about.
AMEN BRO tried to say it myself but braincells ain't what they used to be lol well said people will never understand how important this change is the musical zeitgeist was
that is correct house is for the soul u have to feel it in u to understand it most people think its boring but when u put ur heart into it .....every house song has a meaning to it
2 words Thank You..another 2 so much...my joint right here .. I used to put the baby powder on the floor in the back room and get the foot work in..ol' club heads know what I'm talking about !

i,ve said it in 89, and i,ll say it again in 2008 - ROBERT OWENS has the best vocal delivery in emotional content i have EVER heard.
CLASSIC HOUSE AT ITS VERY VERY BEST!

Cause iTunes Sucks! Don't get me wrong, I love everything Apple, but when it comes to buying TOP Tunes, Amazon kicks their Butt!
