Yaamoke, They aren't trying to be anything else, but African. There is some DNA evidence linking them to Isreal and if Islam could migrate through Africa, why not Judism. There is historical evidence of Judaism, Islam, Christianity, and even Hinduism in pre-colonial times. There also other Jewish tribes scattered in about in Africa. Finally, even if it is untrue, they have the right to pick any faith.

According to most current Jewish practice, you are Jewish if your mother is Jewish or if you formally convert to Judaism.

Reform Jews also accept you as Jewish if only your father is Jewish.

1) There are at least 30 million of Igbo people. There are too many people to even touch the name "Jew"

2) Igbos are not known to be strict observers of the Jewish law. We don't even possess the jewish talmud.

3) Most Igbo are culturally christian. To the average Jew, christian=gentile to be continued...
