The Mig hitting the Skyraider is the first time I've ever seen an enemy pilot from ANY country in any war get a hit on a US plane .This show needs to get a little more real and admit that allies sometimes get hit as well .

That particular event, the F-105 would try to dogfight if the pilot is quite skilled and is not hampered by the main mission objective. The jet age made the two seater fighter, a true fighter vs fighter attacker due to greater thrust power of the jet power plants and in the 80s with fly-by wire systems made the aircraft more maneuverable.

The M61 vulcan fires 15 times faster than the migs 37 mm and with a muzzle velocity of over 300 meters a second faster. I would take the M61 any day.

You don't just stuff new equipment into a fighter and go into combat, whitesox889. The Weasel F-4's had to go through Research & Development before they could be deployed. Besides, the Thuds were already developed and in the theater. I doubt they would've pulled them out their designed role even if they had a better aircraft.

Missle suppression being as dangerous as it is, high losses were expected.

no but in a dog fight im sorry the Thud's just couldn't match a MIG. Thud's were faster but MIG's were 10 times more maneuverable. Pilot was crazy to take on MIG's with a Thud but if you got the skill you can do it.
